Normally, the word “Haru” would mean “spring”, but in the title and the lyrics, they use “Ha” from the word “Hare”, so the meaning would be similar to “Hareru” which mean “to be sunny; to stop raining; to clear away”. If we try to relate the lyrics to the story of the anime, maybe we can translate “Haru” as “clear sky”. The name “Himmel” also means “sky” in German, so the word “haru” or “hare” in the lyrics could refer to Himmel. Raining implies that clear sky (or Himmel) could not be seen. Also, Yorushika also usually use the flowers as metaphor for the remained memories. I’m not sure that Fern’s name which mean “Far away” is related to the lyrics or not.
My son is half Japanese and my husband and I chose part of his name to be Haru because we want him to have a new happiness like spring despite any burdens he bares in the past. This song when I heard it I cried because it captures the meaning we wanted to convey with his name. I’m so happy Frieren brought me this song.
A recommendation if you like peak writing and world building: Ascendance of a Bookworm. An underrated isekai that is actually good and have no self-insert characters
I could recognize that voice from anywhere, and then my excitement sprang out when I knew that it was Yorushika who did this opening was the best. Especially when it's paired with the beauty of Frieren, just creates the perfect mix
I had no idea the new op was gonna be by yorushika and I pretty much screamed when I heard suis' voice. I've always thought Yorushika songs would fit the anime's vibes so well, I'm so happy it actually became a reality
I just caught up to the anime’s latest ep and I had the exact same reaction, I follow them on Spotify so I heard this song already but that first note hit I was so hyped.
Finally came to Japan. Had always been a dream of mine to come here. Heard this song at a DonQuijote and it’s been the anthem for my trip now. Gives me a sense of adventure as I continue my travels here!
Bro, I understand that Yorushika deserves more attention but in no way are they a "hidden" gem. They've on been on the top list too many times ever since say it.
I've only watched clips from this anime, but from what I've seen Yorushika was such a good choice of an OP. Her songs really specialize in a sense of what could've been, or what was. Such melancholic stuff.

4:01 Fun facts from Japan🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵 I would like to write some trivia and thoughts about some of the lyrics, ``Oto ni kiku''. As a Japanese person who loves classical literature, when I heard this part, I thought, ``This song she wrote, she uses the seasonal word Haru and the archaic word Haru well, and it says things like otonikiku, so it's just like... It's like Hyakunin Isshu.'' I thought. By the way, Hyakunin Isshu(One hundred people, one poem each ) is a poet from a samurai family who was an acquaintance of Fujiwarano Sadaie (also called teika by changing the sound of his name. He was from an aristocratic family) who was Japan's leading poet at the time in 1235 A.D. and was called the "Saint of Poetry." ``Select one song at a time read by poets from various eras that you think are excellent, from poems composed in ancient times to poems from today's era, and compile them on 100 pieces of colored paper. Once completed, I would like to decorate the interior of my newly built villa.'' This is one of the most famous collections of Japanese classical literature. It has been established as a traditional card game in Japan for quite some time, and in fact, it has been loved by people as a traditional game for far longer than it has been appreciated as a collection of poems. In Japan, it is common for children in elementary school to memorize this card game instead of introductory books on classical literature and have fun with each other while memorizing old Japanese vocabulary and grammar. Also, since it is a card game played when relatives gather together as a New Year's game, many children remember all the poems that appear in this card game before entering kindergarten. From the time when poems were copied onto seashells and placed in buckets decorated with gold or silverwork, Japanese people, both adults and children, have been playing this card game for more than a thousand years, and even now. It was around 1573 to 1593 AD that it really took shape as a card, so it must have been about 400 years ago. Haru, one of the words used in this song to mean clear, is also one of the old Japanese words that Japanese children have become accustomed to hearing. Now, let's get back to the topic. Oto ni kiku is a phrase that appears in the 72nd poem of the Hyakunin Isshu and also in the Tale of the Heike, a war story and epic poem that represents Japan. From a Japanese perspective, the true meaning of this word is slightly different from the English translation written in this video. Oto ni kiku means, "Is this the place (or thing) that people often talk about? I guess I finally got there." or "It's famous for rumors," and is a word that expresses emotion or excitement. In addition, this word has been used since ancient times when warriors stand at the head of an army and declare the start of war, when they encounter an enemy on the battlefield, or when they encounter a rude person in town in their daily lives. It was considered etiquette to loudly proclaim the history of one's ancestors to one's opponent and then begin fighting again with swords. Also, when using this word not for yourself or your family, but for someone such as a famous scholar, poet, warrior, merchant, or craftsman, add it in front of the person's name as a sign of respect. It is an old Japanese etiquette to first greet someone by saying, ``I'm glad I had the time to meet you today. Thank you.'' Therefore, this word has been used frequently in Japan for quite some time by Japanese people of various classes, including aristocrats, warriors, and ordinary citizens, with different meanings on a daily basis. However, in Japan, where peace and equality have permeated throughout society, there is no longer a need to show off military force, so very few Japanese people use this word in their daily lives. Nowadays, it is often used in historical dramas and traditional plays based on classical literature. The only exception is when students use cheering time at sports days or sports games to cheer on their friends. I feel like it's very rare to hear this type of lyrics in modern music.
This song & the anime are so close to my heart. As someone who speaks both Japanese and German and hearing the reference to the characters names in the song really filled me with so much joy. Apart from the reference concerning Himmel (sky, heaven) and how it relates to "sunny" in terms of the weather, it also includes Heiter, which also could be translated to "its sunny, / no clouds" . Whenever I listen to this song it reminds of this spell Frieren that creates a flower field and all of her friends being together with her again.

I recently spent the month of March in Japan and this song was playing everywhere! I loved being able to go anywhere and hearing this fantastic song from an anime I adore
晴る Haru (晴れ Hare, in usual) = sunny, clear sky = Himmel (in German) = 貴方 Anata (you) = 春 Haru (the same sound as 晴る) = spring, which melted her frozen (Frieren's) heart. There may be many word (Kanji) plays. For example, 目を閉じては青色 目を閉じては (the two middle lines of 目 are closed into one line) and changed into 日 (the sun) , which is then combined with 青 (blue, Himmel's color) to give 晴 (日+青).
Might be a controversial one but this OP absolutley slaps over the first one. The first one was ok but this is just such a vibe and so much nicer to listen to. Honestly I always skipped OP1 but I listened to this every time.
sousou no frieren is my favorite anime from winter and spring season. I am so happy this anime is a 28 episode's one. Honestly for most op full versions for me I still like the 1 min op version, this is an exception especially the rhythm / tempo change at the end and the vocal only part as cherry on top.
Did anyone else just wake up with this song in their head? I'd never heard the full version all of the way through, the imagery of the lyrics is really beautiful!
Bro ngl this song is much banger than yoasobi i feel the vibe of adventure just by listening to this music also it is so addictive like i cant stop playing this song
I really love how n-buna's lyrics reflect Frieren's journey thus far, but he also conveys it in a way that's also really relatable to real life. It's really touching
Every op and ed and soundtrack from this anime is top tier. Animation and detailing is god tier Story is freaking unique and perfect. This anime is already ny top 5 of all time. Its been a long time since i felt such refreshment from an anime. Nearly about 5-6 years
This song is a continuation of the first one. The first one was abt HImmel and how he changed her life, and this is abt her looking forward to life even after his death.
My favorite singer is yorushika and my favorite anime is frieren Word can't describe how greateful I am. For me Frieren is the best anime of the decade.

Good sir get your ass back here
My favorite band and one of my favorite anime. I'm so grateful for this.
Man... this song, it's just stuck in my head.
one of the best opening I've ever heard
Honestly for most op full versions for me I still like the 1 min op version, this is an exception especially the rhythm / tempo change at the end and the vocal only part as cherry on top.
The intro guitar riff is crazy greatw
first yoasobi and now yorushika, hot damn I'm loving this series more and more
that a cappella in the end slays me every time...
Please remind me this everyday, every week, every month, and even a decades.
One of the only songs to this day since it came out? That I haven’t gotten tired of.
Both Openings were fantastic
They should continue animating them.I LOVE IT SO MUCH❤❤❤❤
I miss frieren 😢
Just finished watching frieren it's was absolutely amazing, this anime are just relaxing to watch. I hope the season 2 came early.☺️
When i heard yorushika i literally cried
Did anyone else just wake up with this song in their head? I'd never heard the full version all of the way through, the imagery of the lyrics is really beautiful!
I binged this series and never skipped the opening once.
Yorushika never disappoints
Bro ngl this song is much banger than yoasobi i feel the vibe of adventure just by listening to this music also it is so addictive like i cant stop playing this song
Imagine hearing this 50 years from now.
there is full version already, let's go
The quiet parts with the vocals are my favorite
People are talking about which is better Yoasobi OP or Yorushika OP but for me its Millet ED that made my day. 😊
If this is your first time hearing of Yorushika, I am green with envy. Do yourself a favor and go listen to their entire discography right now.
Don't mind if I do. This song completely blew me away. I hope to find something else from them that can match it. I will report back!
@@bridgethings4225 any reports?
@@bridgethings4225The song that is most similar to Sunny (and as good as) is Matasaburo. Would really recommend that one if you like this.
This op is really perfect!🤟😆😊👍🎵🎶
That last part without the music opened my eye flood gates-
Man.... Great song to open up my new journey for 2024
That was awesome, really good song !
After finishing the series like months ago and then listening to this song again for the first time in a while.. I just can't stop crying🥹
In love with this opening 🥰
I really love how n-buna's lyrics reflect Frieren's journey thus far, but he also conveys it in a way that's also really relatable to real life. It's really touching
Every op and ed and soundtrack from this anime is top tier.
Animation and detailing is god tier
Story is freaking unique and perfect.
This anime is already ny top 5 of all time.
Its been a long time since i felt such refreshment from an anime. Nearly about 5-6 years
ts is ethereal 😭
Yeah, channel comeback 🎉😂
This song is a continuation of the first one. The first one was abt HImmel and how he changed her life, and this is abt her looking forward to life even after his death.
Yourshika music is awesome always in her language japanese
