Jared, thanks for the approach you take in all your videos. It’s nice to hear your approach on all things bowhunting without the direct or indirect references negative references to others on TH-cam
Thanks Kevin, I appreciate the comment. I don't really watch other hunting videos on TH-cam but I know that stuff is prevalent, never really understood that take though. Anyway, thanks for watching as always!
great video and explanations Jared. a lot of hard work done there. no wonder you haven't posted much lately. thanks for time you took us outside on your new farm.
Congratulations Jared on your turkey season, shooting them with a Bow is alot of fun. Can't wait to see how the deer season turns out on that Awesome looking Farm. Keep up the Fantastic content. So looking forward to seeing more from you this season. BEST OF LUCK .. 🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
Thanks Sean. And yeah, I have nets on most of them, but there was one day I forgot them at home so I need to go pack and put those on the tubes at that end.
So many great improvements in a short amount of time owning the farm. It will be cool to follow along and see how things continue to improve. Thanks for the tour!
Brother I love all of your videos, just excellent in your expertise of filming and a great big buck hunter,I learn from every video. I am after 2 monsters here in ga and I mean monsters . I don't do cameras or bait just wait till weather gets right but i seem to never get a crack . Very smart animals
very nice lay out and creek through the property always a bonus. your farm reminds me of 120 acre piece i use to permission hunt in switzerland co indiana that hunted like a 250 acre farm. people that don"t do tsi have no idea how quickly the desirable timber improve. can't wait until season
Looking good man! keep up the work, gonna have a ton of cover and food available! One of your tips gave me an idea on my spot for a stand location, light bulb went off after you were talking about trails lol. See how it works this fall!
Thanks for the tour, Jared. I have a similar property in south central Iowa with 20 year old CRP trees, portions of former cow pasture and a creek traversing through the middle of the property. I have also struggled with the "good tree" removal ---but I absolutely hate those locust trees! I am just starting year 3 here and have also made significant progress. I appreciate the planning, challenges, and off-season work that pays off in the fall. Keep up the great work!
Awesome! Glad it was relatable, and congrats on the progress. As you know it's a fun and challenging project at the same time, but it's very rewarding to see the improvements. Best of luck on yours and reach out anytime.
Dang, you have that place looking great! Always cool to see a thorough explanation of what you did and why and how it’s doing. Keep up the hard work man!
Great content! Love seeing the TSI and other projects. We just sold our QDM farm in Cincinnati IA after 17 years of mgmt. Was out during turkey season to burn some switch grass for the new owners and got to hunt some turkey... I love iowa, sure am gonna miss owning property out there. Is switch grass no longer a thing? 15 plus years ago we planted a bunch per the recommendation of Steve Hanson and others. Both for cover/plot screen and I believe there was some financial incentives by the government at the time. Anyway, best of luck in the off season, looking forward to seeing trail camera pictures.
What program are you with for the trees on your property? As I just got a property and am Going to do some removal and management and would be curious about getting in touch with the folks you use? Great tour and love your content Jared!!! Keep up the great work sir.
You and Mike still own river bottom farm? And hunt together.... ? You the man, always great content... tuck that shiny wrist watch away... magnet for a turkeys eye...
No sir, we don't. I sold my half to him to buy this farm. And yeah I noticed it shine in that video too, usually it's underneath my sleeve but not then apparently! Thanks dude
You’ve done some excellent planning here Jared. Maybe the best I’ve ever seen but the land lays perfect for it. You’d do great at picking up some clients for planning. Thanks for sharing the tour with us. I don’t think I’d be selling anytime soon.
Thanks Jay, I appreciate that. I think it'd be fun to do that at some point. Especially for pieces like this where there is a lot of opportunity for changes and improvements.
Awesome video, Jared! Thanks for sharing! How large is your property? I'm trying to find something here in Ohio to get started. What is a good size for one person to manage just starting out as a land owner?
Hey Jared - I'm a Wisconsin resident who has hunted in southeast and south central Iowa multiple times (whenever I can draw a tag). I absolutely love hunting Iowa. Just curious if you can tell us what county or general area that your property is in ? If not, no problem but I am always trying to learn more about hunting land in Iowa. Thanks Jared.
I assume that you are familiar with our State of Iowa Foresters that can write up a free plan for your timber and apply for cost share for TSI, earn some money for your hard work. I've done it several times and have zero complaints. Lots of programs out there that can be utilized.
Yep, for sure. They've been great to work with. Although, for my TSI this year, I wasn't able to utilize any cost share funds because the previous landowner used it a couple years ago.
Thanks Scott. On this property I found a few but mostly good 2 and 3 year old deer, I didn't come across any that I thought were older than that. But it's good to start building that history regardless
Thank you Jared! What variety of annual clover did you frost seed with the intention to plow down to brassicas this fall? Also, what variety of clover chicory blend?
No problem! The annual clover was a mix of two reds and a crimson. The clover chicory blend was a mix of 4 different clovers and a chicory. These will all be available within the next month, I'll plan on doing a video as soon as they are for anyone that's interested in getting some. Thanks for watching!
Hey Kevin, here you go: www.treepro.com/miracle-tube-tree-shelters I got the 60" ones with white oak stakes. And I actually had a distributor near me so instead of ordering online I went and got them from him to avoid shipping costs
What’s up Jared ..planting season is here! My question is when u said u we’re applying to make fields crp I know couple people from mw mentioned that to..what exactly do u have to apply for? Or y do u have to have row crops for certain time and then “ due your own thing” later years just trying to understand what u guys have to do out west!
What's up Mikey! So there are different versions of the program that you can apply for but for most of the CRP, or Conservation Reserve Program, you're essentially entering into an agreement to take row crop acres out of agricultural production. So in order to do that, obviously it has to be in production in the first place, which is where the crop history comes into play. In exchange for taking those out of production, the FSA pays you a yearly payment. Of course, I could just plant those acres to native grasses now, but I would lose out on an annual income opportunity. Hope that helps, feel free to let me know if you have other questions.
I’m not getting notifications when you post. I saw your ads on another hunting channel I’m a subscriber Weird I’m not getting your new videos been following you since you parted ways with Midwest Now having to catch up on past videos you already pasted
Pleas disregard my comment below as it was meant for a different show. I'm old and not proficient on keyboards somehow ended up on Jared's video and didn't realize it.
I keep hearing about the severe winter weather experienced out west and I wonder how can this be. This goes completely against all this global warming propaganda.
Jared and Bill Winke are my favs.
Same here 😊👍👍

Thanks Brad, it definitely takes time. Thanks for watching though, I appreciate it!
Great video! I love habitat improvement project videos. I'm looking forward to seeing how this property evolves (if you decide to keep it for awhile).
Thanks Randy! I'll be sure to keep updates coming when I can!
So much fun to make it yours!

Also think about adding nets to the top of the tubes, birds tend to fall into them and ☠️
Thanks Sean. And yeah, I have nets on most of them, but there was one day I forgot them at home so I need to go pack and put those on the tubes at that end.

About 100
Have you thought about planting a mini apple orchard

are you putting in fruit trees?
I'd like to, I have a couple areas that would be good for those so maybe in the near future
Might as well cut all the ash. Once bore comes theyll be dead. In mi it destroyed habitat
Yeah it's definitely a bummer. Pretty crazy really how many millions of trees they've wiped out
