I bought this router ( tool only ) it didn't come with the trimmer guide. I ordered one through you guys ( tool nut ), and you delivered! I got the right part in about three days at a fair price. Thank you!!
The bare tool XTR01Z comes with a 3/8" collet in addition to the 1/4" collet. I don't know if that was added more recently or if it's always been that way. It also includes 2 wrenches, an edge guide, and a dust extraction nozzle for the fixed base. The two wrenches are for people like me who prefer that method over the push button collet method.
Mine as a bare tool only came with the guide, 2 wrenches and collet. I had to buy the plastic dust extraction part. The first use it seemed ok, but having had minimal router experience I wasn't certain about anything. That was a few months ago, this past week I have gotten more cozy with it and today I was attempting a 1/4" depth of material to be removed, and the first pass, I set it to approx 1/8" using a 3/4" bit, before I had made much progress, I noticed the that the area that I had begun was shallow, around 1/8", but a few inches along, the entire pathway grew to beyond 1/4". I looked and sure enough the clamping system had allowed the tool to sink from 1/8" to +1/4". I reset and watched carefully as I tried another area and I realized I was actually feeling the tool slide down, and the locking clamp was in place. Removing the battery, and the taking the base from the tool I am astounded at the marks and blemishes along the entire smooth and tight surface. The tolerance is sloppy loose and for a Makita product I hope there is some warranty coverage. I own many of the LXT brushless tools, the 10" compound sliding miter, and drill driver (the first 2 of my change to this platform) as well as 3 additional drill/drivers, the impact driver, an impact for full on sockets, sawzall, angle grinder and several others as well as a couple older rock solid corded tools I've used for easily 10+ years. This little router is really upsetting and while I know it only cost me $130 or so, that's 130 it appears perhaps for something that literally has under 8 overall hours of use.
Does anyone have an issue with the guide bushing it comes with not being centre to the bit or collet and know how to fix it? It goes off centre when i clip the lever down it looks like
When the tool or battery is overheated, the tool stops automatically and the lamp blinks. In this case, let the tool and battery cool before turning the tool on again.

The clamp is adjustable to make it tighter

I should have added, it did come with both collets, two wrenches, and a edge guide. Just not the trimmer guide.
Appreciate the order, James! Enjoy the new router.
Any one know what it means if tool stops and then work lights blink? Heat/ overload protection?

I love my router I put it to work on an bedroom door it is purfect.
From their website it states it can run 1/4" and 3/8" bits
Correct! The bare tool that HD sells actually comes with the 3/8" collet, and perhaps that's the case with other retailers but I can't say for sure.
Nice router and nice review. Thanks.
Has 2 lights.
