"If you don't know how to take the wheel off, you should stop now." Brilliant. Thanks for all the top tips. I'll be replacing both sides and would've probably snapped the height sensor off by not being careful.
Worth mentioning this is a later L322. I've just been changing the struts on a 2007 3.6 TDV8 and they don't have wire in the top, rather a round balancing weight which unscrews with a 14mm hex - best to get one on a ½"drive socket so you can put a decent leverage on it as mine were quite tight.
Hi, Great videos John Paul and very informative with numerous top tips for the amateur mechanic but why don't you pressure wash the inner wing first so its nice and clean and when removing the plastic inner wing (at 3.33 minutes) once you've unclipped and dropped the inner wing down slightly why didn't you just disconnect the outside temperature sensor wire at the plastic connector terminal rather than taking the whole sensor/mounting frame off the inner wing, isn't this possible?
My front suspension went the other day and I just took the front wheels off and noticed a massive gash on the front left similar to this one. Do I need to replace 1 or both? Neither sides will raise when I start the vehicle but the back tires are both raising. There is not a gash on the front right just the front left and the front left is the only one making a leaking noise as well when it's trying to lift. Thanks!
Hi, there is no need to replace both at the same time. If it is just the front left air spring that has failed, you can simply replace just this one. Depending on your specific vehicle you may be able to replace the air spring separately rather than replacing the entire shock absorber. If you need any assistance please feel free to give our sales team an email at: sales@rimmerbros.com with your VIN information :)
Hey. Can you please share information how to use these small orings/washers? I'm rebuilding the air spring using my old shocks, and somehow I can't make them air tight... They are leaking air... I had 2 problems.. At first, I couldn't put the lower part of the air bag over these big orings... I used air compressor but eventually it sits properly. . Small orings I put on the shock rod, over the big shiny metal washer - this was the only place I saw that these washers/orings fit... I put everything back to the car and... leak is bad... Front goes up and then down within seconds... What do I miss??
Hi Prorok7878, thank you for your comment. We would suggest you get in touch with your local garage or land rover specialist who would be able to take a look and advise/ repair
Misses the weather seal on the top strut mount and just bypasses it. The owner of that car will have an electrical short that can't be traced because you missed that.
Jean-Paul, this is really excellent and informative information, I think it will be a good idea to give the underwing area a good pressure wash before doing this job, do you stock the new units? Chris B.
Hi Chris, thanks for the feedback :) We do stock both the complete strut assemblies and the air springs separately, let us know if you need any help with part numbers.

Absolutely brilliant ,thanks
Great video. Must we depressurize the EAS system before starting the job? If so, how do you do this?

Hi Raymond, thank you for your feedback. The weather seal was reinserted into the top strut mount off camera.
