    +Mark Pollack - Thank you for the feedback Mark. Yes, we did not mention the metering (refrigerant restriction) device at the evaporator entrance such as a thermal expansion valve in an effort to simplify the process. You are absolutely correct that a metering device is an important part of the central air conditioning system.

    We had a malfunctioning condensing unit and we called a HVAC engineer. He thought it wasn't running because of a faulty board. It was until then RepairClinic showed that the problem was either a faulty condensing unit contactor, a wire cut, or a blown fuse. We had to rewire all connections onto the board that the HVAC engineer removed and replaced the condensing unit wire with a new wire and it *started working again.* We *definitely recommend RepairClinic over a typical HVAC engineer*

    The compressor does not have its own fan. The fan in the unit is called the condenser fan. It comes on as soon as cooling is called for. We recommend using the repair help section of our website to help diagnose your AC problems (link in the description). Have your model number ready for best results.

    First let me say, I love your videos. Professionally done, simple and direct to the point. I know you are trying to simply the process, but your video describes the compressor as the component that turns the refrigerant back into a liquid at 3:12. May I suggest that you revisit that portion of the video. Thank you for listening.

    • @stephensnell1379
      @stephensnell1379 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's because the video is totally correct the compressor is always changing the refrigerant from liquid to gas and then from a gas back to a liquid,the refrigerant also flows through the condenser and evaporator coils too
      It's similar to Refrigerators

    Question I always wonder the difference between an attic set up or basement a/c heater set up...I have it in the attic...does it use up more energy since the attic is hot in the summer compared to one that is in a basement...

    • @Bendigo1
      @Bendigo1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Since hot air rises, the air reaching the unit will be warmer than it would be in the basement. If the return vents are set up right it shouldn't make much difference though

    Hello, so, at 11:30pm this Saturday night, my ac decides to give up. No cold air coming out of the vents. Checked the filter, could use replacing, but still wouldn't work with the filter temporarily removed. Went outside to check the fan and it's not moving. Noticed a coating of frost on the line connected to the compressor as well as part of the compressor. Out of curiosity, I checked the air handler in the attic and noticed water collected in the tray (which I don't recall seeing before). Where should I start? Capacitor? This is all new to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both of the fans should be running. If the condenser fan is not running I would check the capacitor first and replace if necessary. You should not be getting frost on the compressor lines unless the air handler fan is not running, not enough air is blowing across the evaporator coil, or there is too much refrigerant. If the inside or outside air temp gets too cold it will also cause frost to form on the larger suction line on the compressor. When the unit is working properly the warm air moving across the evaporator will melt the frost on the coil and it will drip into the pan and go into the condensate drain.

    Hey just wanted to ask a question... the central ac i got is working fine in some parts of the house but my room and living room etc, doesn't seem to be blowing that hard... my house was built brand new in early 2016 so basically a new house... is there any reason for this? I've tried opening some windows for better air flow and stuff but nothing seems to work and my vents are wide open. ty in advance

    • @JPTinioMedia
      @JPTinioMedia 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      opening your windows is a terrible idea, it allows outdoor heat to come into your home. You can close vents in rooms that don't need cooling such as the washroom, closets, or partially close rooms that get good cooling. Up the fan speed on the furnace, most likely requires a technician to do this. If none of that works unfortunately the house was built with a terrible duct design, where the hvac rough in work wasn't connected properly or poorly designed.

    One of the better videos on ac fundamentals. I was looking for a video that was about 15-20 minutes long that was more detailed but this is the longest video I found so far. Its surprising how hard is is to find a good video on the ac process and a good explanation of how the ac works and its fundamental parts. Obviously disappointed that there was no mention of the expansion valve. It would be great if there was a mention of the temperature of the gas/refrigerant at the different parts of the cycle. Keep up the great work, I hope you strive to improve this good video. Thanks!

    • @teamkillmonger445
      @teamkillmonger445 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marvin Jones Jr. Check the power to the compressor and your refrigerant. Make sure the wiring of the capacitor and contactor are good for the compressor. Check air filter also. A bad air filter can affect the refrigerant which affects how the compressor works. Is the fan not working also?

In december 2011, the apartment Maintenance replaced some of them with heat pumps and then did the rest of them in probably August/September 2012. Also, isn't a central unit thermostat just a knob with numbers all around it?

      do you have inverter technology, it's rare though but if it doesn't, CHECK THE OUTDOOR AND STOP COMPLAINING IF IT STOPPED RUNNING, OF COURSE IT WILL DRAW LESS ELECTRICITY IF IT ISN'T TURNED ON

    Somebody help me please ‼‼ 😑 Does an HVAC system need to be Serviced/Tuned on a Yearly or so Basis ?? My first 2 yrs electric bill somewhat reasonable but the past year bills have been No less than $400 monthly . I'm in a 2 family that used to be a 1 family and I'm wondering other than the rates per khw , Why is bill so High Now and must I ask for a Service/Tune Up ?? 2016-present Higher and higher my bill goes ‼‼ Oh and is the Unit supposed to be blowing out cool air once it reaches set temperature right after heating the place ??? Thank You for advice .

      @STO21NE 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Serenityafterall not sure where at in the country you live but for me personally my gas and electric bill has been higher during months where we had extreme cold simply because the furnace has to run more often to keep the house up to temperature. You should have it serviced once a year to make sure everything is ok, techs may be able to see potential issues before something actually goes out and are able to save you from having to go without heat. Also check to see if your filter is clean, a dirty filter can also raise your electric bill. When the furnace satisfies the thermostat the burners shut down and will just run the fan for a short while afterwards to cool down the heat exchanger so you will feel some cool air coming through the vents at the end of a heating cycle

      @@STO21NE Ok Thank You ‼ I live in Pocono Mountain PA and I appreciate your help . I change my filter every 3 months and I use to buy the ones to change every 4-6 weeks . I know for sure to get this service because I shouldn't have an ice block in the unit during the summer that comes crashing down behind the filter . I just like when landlords care enough to know when certain things need to be done but it will be on him just Respect the Tenant that cares . Thanks again ❗

    Here. I saw an old aircon in one restaurant. Really really old. The condenser coils is turning to dust when someone touches it. What is the solution for that? It can be replaced? Or buy new ones?

    • @brlinf06398

      why don't you clean them with water or compressed air, or ask the restaurant owner that you don't like the look of the ac and give the restaurant 1 star

    I'm waiting on heating and air technitions to come over and look at my central air unit right now. It's not working. The thermostat will turn on but the outside unit doesn't work at all. It's kinda ironic I just had an electrician over to look at out lets that weren't working he checked the whole house made sure the wiring is good. He said the wiring is new and this house was renovated before I moved in. it's an old house but it was totally gutted out and updated with new appliances.

      They also mentioned that the compressor converts the gas into a liquid, which is completely false

      @@morgoththekingcodm5990it is actually CORRECT
      THE COMPRESSOR IN AN AC SYSTEM IS EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE FOUND IN FRIDGE FREEZERS AND IT IS ALWAYS CONVERTING THE REFRIGERANT FROM A LIQUID INTO A GAS AND THEN BACK TO LIQUID FORM

    How many filters does a furnace have??

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      skater78207 A furnace has one air filter, which should be checked monthly and changed every six months or more frequently, if you suffer from allergies or have pets Some homes also have an electronic filter. You'll find our How It Works: Furnace video to be informative: th-cam.com/video/zaT-gcEYpvs/w-d-xo.html

    I am about to get a new hvac system. If the AC reduces the humidity in the home, would having a humidifier on the furnace unit be adding humidity that isn't needed when running the AC?

    • @brandon9715
      @brandon9715 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      srabchun a humidistat should be installed with the humidifier. This, along with only giving power to the humidifier when the furnace is on, prevents humidifying with cooling.
