Hey, good video. On the cost, it can vary soo much. We just got home from a 9 day trip last week. 🤙🏽 If you decide to retire in Hawai’i and you have major health issues, stay away from the Big Island. The healthcare on the island could be compared to that of a second-world country. Many medical procedures require at trip to Oahu due to the lack of Specialty Physicians or equipment. Basic medical needs can be obtained but if you have an ongoing conditions, cardio or pulmonary, you may find accessibility to those Specialists challenging. Also, the wages a Physician is paid in comparison to that of the mainland detour many from having permanent positions here. This is true for most primary care Physicians as well. There’s a pretty high rate of turn-over with them due to the reduction of salary and lack of qualified administrators as compared to the mainland. Patient care is almost an oxymoron here. To sum up the answer to the question, it may be a good place to retire second only to a good place to die.
Thanks for sharing. I know that Hawaii is in need of more physicians in rural areas, like the neighbor islands. Hopefully we can attract the doctors to practice here.
@@HelloFromHawaii About the only way to attract Physicians here is to base their salary on CA like-similars. Unfortunately the hospitals use compatibles salaries to those on Guam. Queens pays the President of their North Hawai’i five-times that of a quality Physician, what sense does that make? The administrative staff under the President is about as qualified as a rubbish collector. This is one of the many reasons QNH is losing Doctors and Nurse Practitioners so rapidly. Okay my $0.02. Best luau Smith's on Kauai. Do locals hate tourists. . Depends on the island and neighborhood. Not a Hawaii issue it is the same in many states. Lowest property taxes is a lie. They give locals some serious deductions that non locals do not get. Also the inflated costs make it appear low per thousand but look at the average tax bill not the per thousand number. I love Hawaii for it Beauty and the people I know are amazing. The tax structure and the political system is not a fair or reasonable system. Regressive.
Mahalo for the comment. Maybe not the lowest property tax, but one of the lowest. And there is a deduction for locals, but still, because the property taxes don't go toward education, I think they're relatively low compared to other places.
Taxes on our Washington house are $2900 year. Taxes on our Hawaii island condo are $4450 a year. Both are within 8k in assessment of each other. Not lower from where I stand. But our sales tax is more than double the GET.

Dangerous feral pigs on the Big island especially Mt view, paradise Park
This guy is not telling the Whole truth, he is skirting around questions
Legally Hawaii is a country. Check International laws
As a mainlander, is getting a tiki tattoo frowned upon?
I'm not sure. Some people might be offended, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.
@@HelloFromHawaii since you’re on, I wanna say thank you. Your channel is actually soothing to me. It’s not political, it’s not angry…..it’s heart felt & informative. I’m a New Yorker but visited Hawaii back in 07. Will never forget all we experienced.
🤣🤣🤣 Some babooze ?s
:)
Miss tourists... At least their MONEY~ Lol!
We do. More tourist spending is good for the economy. But in recent years, the average spending per visitor has gone down, which means we aren't getting as good a return on investment in tourism than in the past.
Don't be wearing matching Hawaiian attire unless you want to stand out in the crowd
We were actually going to buy matching clothes for a family picture. I'll let my wife know. lol :)
@@HelloFromHawaii if it's for a family photo, that should be up to you since it'll be for memories, so if you do, I suggest wearing soft/light colors, nothing bright. But that's just my opinion.
You forgot scorpions. FBI
Growing up here, I have yet to see a scorpion.
@@HelloFromHawaii Big Island is pretty rustic lol! Love your channel! Mahalo :)
Bruddah Iz Kamakawiwo'ole found Hawaii
Hawai’i is NOT a state.
Haole is slang for 'white people' its almost like the N-word... Malihini is a nicer Hawaiian term for tourists.
Lol it is not "almost like the N-word"
