Omfg this is great
This feels like such a different story from LA by night. LA by night feels like a political drama where the players are powerful and influential kindred who’s decisions could effect the fate of the LA kindred community, while the players in this game feel like young, naive kindred trying to find there way in the world and having no real power outside of the corner of the city they’ve been given. Both great games and the story teller knocks the ball out of the park in both stories
Hey thank you very much! And yes, you are right: I chose to try for a very different kind of story and tone with NY by Night. I think of this story as more of a street-level, grittier situation than the LA story. I love both, and Vampire is so good at offering us many different kinds of stories!

After Rey killed an Innocent already in Episode 3, Jason Carl showed them what happens when their humanity drops to zero ;)
Funny thing is... i all my... 15(?) years as a vampire player, this is the first time i saw that... Everyone treat the humanity 0 monster as a boogie man, some telltale to scare children, and nobody ever thought of using it for real in a scene... I JUST FUCKING LOVED IT when JC decide to use it.
1:38:30 - Some people and gamers don't understand this action, but I 100% LOVE it when players have their characters do a "freeze" action, where they know their character would have a lapse of judgement and do nothing. Huge props to Aabria, that's how you roleplay.
I was honestly surprised neither of the other players had their character react to the fire, or that Jason didn't call for them to react in their distracted states. I'm not sure with Rey's physical intervention or Issac's manipulation that either would have noticed the sudden flare was from her, but that's a big nitpick and I loved Fuego's pause
IKR, specialy because they're very fresh fledglings and it's the first time in their lives (and no-lives) they see something as alien as that.
I absolutely love the voice Jason Carl uses for Fuego's beast and the way Fuego responds to it. Just adds so much to the character.
Edit: 'Make me proud' is becoming this show's 'Victor my boy' for me.
How much Alex clearly enjoys delivering the Lore dump in character gives me (Un)life.

Lol pretty sure she's 90% playing herself. Which really just makes it better.
God the dynamics of this coterie are amazing. Every character contributes something essential to the narrative and immersion. Honestly I find Fuego the scariest --- there's just a simple lack of remorsefulness in her that makes her just that little bit more comfortable being the monster.

Isaac's final speach and Fuego's personality makes me want to play as the chillest Brujah ever. Unbothered and moisturized even if some Ventrue mentions Carthage.

I get advised to give into the stereotypes all the time while playing but I love it when players create interesting well rounded characters and don't fit them in a box.
I really like his Ghoul Angela. I hope that she might appear someday on the show as a player character. I do wonder if Isaac is planning to embrace his two ghouls, them being former friends. I think Angela as a Kindred would be interesting.
with the clan of the dragons, eeeeh that's iffy, atleast at the point I am at right now. they like their, to quote, horde, their things. He takes care of them better then the usual Tzimece but they're still part of his horde so, is it possible? Yes. it's his character. however I don't think it's the most standard thing. of course I could be absolutely wrong so I am up for discussion

I love to play a game with Jason Carl as the Storyteller. His voice is so calm and I love how deadpan he talks about the vampires.
If there would be a top list of Dms around the world he would pretty high.
Also his quick in story thinking is insane

Even though Rey seems like a typical Ventrue, his temperament is definitely Gangrel. He is also fierce and resilient, and that reads Gangrel to me much more so than a Brujah either. Also, one of his Convictions is never to become a beast, or something along that phrasing, which to me resonates with the Gangrel clan's Bane. He must have known on some subconscious level that if he doesn't quell his temper or fights against anything or anyone that threatens his survival that he might forget he is human/humanoid and become an animal much like most Gangrel have done in the past.

I mean, after he got turned he got aggressive. He repeatedly points out that it's new for him, his attempts to control his aggression are very much conscious actions on his part. It fucked up his life to the point he can't go back. Being fierce and resilient is also a pretty common trait but one I would especially apply to the Ventrue with Dominate and Fortitude. He's a very social animal, unlike standard Gangrel. He's well groomed, dressed to impress, and he strives to make connections and deals such as laundering money for Richter and becoming "Partners" with Drezzler. Nothing Gangrel about him except the Curse.
Is it just me, or did Cat barge in on a fight the coterie was handling perfectly fine, in order to dupe them into believing they owe her?
And then acting like she actually had power to watch their backs? XD

@@rachelisham5415 Part of the clan (I don't think the bane). I think the player just decided to make that Cat's reaction to getting that knowledge.

- Hecata (her lineage) are the on duty Necromancers among the clans. Getting-of off death is kinda what they do.
- Hecata have Auspex and Oblivion as disciplines. The 2 main "mystical sense" type of power. Meaning: They're basically on magic mushrooms at all times. Like "the 6th sense" meets "wazzaaaaaaa".
So who knows what she was "perceiving" while Seris told her story.

We need WOD novels! Like we used to get in the late 90s. Walk Among Us and the comics were awesome. Would love to see more media like that. I was a huge fan of all the novels. Even Changling which had some amazing fan fiction back in the day. Im a book worm I read a ton. Always have. I have a WOD sized hole in my heart that needs to be filled with novels. 😁

There was a recent VtM comic series that had a werewolf spinoff.
There's those interactive books that came out recently; VtM Coteries of New York, VtM Shadows of New York, VtM Night Road, VtM Out for Blood, VtM Parliament of Knives and VtM Sins of the Sires.

Afaik, since Paradox takeover WoD material has been more focused on comics, visual novel games, and obviously more "mainstream" rpg-like games (and that weird battle royale that I havent heard anymore about lately), outside of the material sourcebooks for the traditional tabletop game.

In terms of the World of Darkness if you are interested in other Vampire the Masquerade Actual Plays and you have a ton of free time then can I suggest McStabber Studios’s Windy City after Dark a 7 series VTM Chronicle, I found the series recently and am really liking it. Discovered Vampire the masquerade not too long ago, stumbling onto this show is like a gold mine. I am dying for a chance to play vtm. Love that Aabria is on this, she was great with EXU and is brightening up the night with Fuego. She is living my dreams lol

But seriously, well done everyone! We’re getting a bit more background on each of the coterie and it’s making the characters richer for it, I’m liking them more and more! Cat was an unexpected surprise and delightfully unhinged.
Loved how the ghouls are characters in their own right and share their experience of being what they are to the Coterie.
Love the pure lust on Cat's face at 2:15:56 as Serif starts talking about her death 😆
The Hecata's bane makes the embrace painful, so that must be why she gets excited.
The backing track on this episode is ON POINT. Im just constantly head bopping. Its like sitting on the Bloodlines menu screen all over again.
When Serif described the mural on her room, I got SUCH Toreador vibes. And I mean that in all the best ways possible.

I love how Isaac/Alex turned into Data from Star Trek for a bit 😂 looking forward to seeing more of his Tzimisce traditions with respect to gifts, houses etc!
Jason Carl's easy abilities with NPCs is Masterful. I love what he does with them.
What an excellent episode. A great set of new and returning players. Aabria fantastic fun, she knows how to play with the role and bends her actions in unique ways. Joey is excellent at causing trouble and speaking his mind, I enjoy how little bullshit he can take, but am also interested in seeing just how tough Rey can get. Mayanna is a bit mysterious still, Serif is still forming into what the character will also be, but her willingness to go along with things always leads to fun. Seeing this playful side of Shayne, who was very tragic as Katya in LA by Night, has also been great. She plays an excellent Guido-esc Italian hooked to the Mafia and the pleasure she conveys about death is funny, yet disturbing.
Honestly the biggest treat is seeing Alex play such a different character and it fitting so naturally. He was fantastic as Jasper, but seeing him play this more direct and powerful clan is awesome to watch. Watching Isaac's back and forth with Cat at 2:04:00 was so fun to watch. He tried being polite and then his clan came out and he demanded 'Who told them?!' and he dominated an older vampire. It was so different than Jasper. It's good to see him play with this more forceful character and open character.
Also, Jason is an awesome storyteller who also seems to be having a good time with the new setting up and surroundings. Cannot wait to see more!
this is the first time ive watched a non dnd tabletop play game and i gotta say im loving this story style. It feels like there is no difference between player and character. like i can imagine these vampires sitting around this same table while an elder vampire is running them through scenarios that could happen in kindred society.

I wonder when we'll start to get the vignettes at the end of episodes, looking forward to them! Great episode overall, encountering a shovelhead Wight as the prelude to a Sabbat invasion is fantastic stuff!

@@PseudonymX vignettes first started around season 2 of LA by night, the first streamed chronicle VTM did. they mostly showed what the larger cast of side characters were up to-stuff like a protagonist’s mortal girlfriend trying to solve his “mysterious disappearance”.

Such an awesome cast of people! Truly love this whole group. Everybody in it is so talented. This is like the HBO prime time of TTRPG streams! Plus it uses the best TTRPG system ever made. With the best source books ever written. Ok enough brown nosing. Just love the WOD streams! Would love to see official streams for other things Hunter, Werewolf, Changeling, Wraith and so on. Then tie them all together in one big WOD stream.

Could be from a rival family, or could be a new embrace from another composite bloodline of the Hecata such as the cappidochians or samedi, who would have a less than stellar opinion of the Giovanni

I'm happy to be here from the beginning and not months after the episodes have released. I feel I'm a part of the story... okay, that's in my head, but still. I want to know Rey. I love the characters being portrayed, but there's just something about a Gangrel 1%'er that draws me in. He's so atypical and I'm here for it.
Oh, another new-old guest wearing new clothes :> The mystery, the action, the reveal about the monster, the characters' bonds, little bits of knowledge being fed to us, it's great.

Same, for a fledgling he actually powers up every time he goes into a fight. Like he knows he will take damage so he always activates his armor like discipline to reinforce himself and cut the taken damage in half before the fight even begins. Fuego is suppose to be the tank of the coterie, as venture, but she has not yet grasp her abilities, at least not on the same level as Rey.
