Hijab is beautiful and is compulsory for women to wear to protect themselves even I am a revert and accepted Islam when I was 18 my family are all non Muslim too. Please read the Quran that will give you strength and you don’t need a man to keep your Islam you just need Allah focus on Allah and remember Him and He will make it easy for you. I have been wearing Hijab for nearly 6 years now and it is very easy for me I cannot even imagine going out without it now. Sister I get you and what you are going through isn’t easy but if you remember Allah and come closer and closer to Him he will make it very easy for you In Shaa Allah as he has made it easy for me.
I'm a Muslim woman living in a Muslim country and I don't wear it (I don't believe it's compulsory at all). So, regardless of your belief about such details, keep your faith in monotheism, strive to be the best version you can, day by day, and take it easy. And please have mercy for yourself. We tend to forget that mercy is directed at anybody except us. You don't owe anybody an explanation since we know as Muslims that we don't have "clergy" (it's man-made), your relationship is personal, with God. Hijab is compulsory ..If you don't want to wear don't wear ...But calling it optional or not quranic will make you an indefidel ..
Don't worry, Hijab is very difficult in Western Country, So don't make your life harder, please pray to God to always guide our heart
