I watched hundreds of videos and TikTok reviews of both, and I think Sony wins. I have the Sony ZV-1 Mark I, while my friend has the Canon G7X Mark III. When using an external flash (MEDALight F1s) on the Sony, the pictures are comparable. However, we both prefer the Sony for its video and audio quality.
Cannon really screwed up with the G7X III. The autofocus is a disaster, Sony is sooo much better focus. I actually sold it though, and just use my iPhone 14 Pro. I was using my 13 Pro and realized I don't need the drama of a separate camera anymore.
I think I'm nearly to the point of investing in iPhone 14 and just using that ... How's the internal mic and video stabilization if walking while filming?
@@USJapanFam It's good. I use the DJI Wireless Mic though. I'm all about the best audio possible. Just make the leap, you won't regret it. Great audio is more important than the video IMHO.
I have owned sony alpha mirrorless for around a year and I have used Canon mirrorless cameras as well. I think Sony colors are better while canon autofocusing is faster atleast in their top range models. Nice video though gave me an insight into vlogging cameras from both.
i have the g7x mark ii but my cats have rly damaged it so i’m thinking of buying a sony (only bc the g7xs are discontinued and selling for extremely high). but i’ve never liked the sony video colour scheme. it’s tinted green whereas canon is tinted pink
Love your video! We currently have the canon g7x ii .... was thinking about the g7 iii but heard bad things about the auto focus. Love the auto focus on the sony but the internal mic on the canon is better. Hmm ... main thing im leaning towards the sony purchase is the 4k and better footage. Let me know if you decide to move forward with the sony=)
Nice!! I think that may be my next one, I really love canons internal camera and the way the way the viewing screen flips up and over is beyond amazing!!! Been so helpful in filming many things super high up or low, as well as selfie mode!
it's the biggest complaint you'll see about it! also the tiny screws on the screen start to fall out after a few years, i just bought a set of tiny screws and drivers for fixing watches and it's been keeping my screen functioning, i had been using a rubber band for a year before that LMAO! all that said, i love it dearly and have yet to figure out what i will buy next... this one is on life support at this point :P
@@USJapanFam that’s impossible ,in 1080p overheats in 10mins ?? I am not talking about 4K and mark iii.. . Sorry just find this very hard to believe thank you kindly
For me the ZV1 is a top mini cam for holidays 👍🏻 good quality 👌 for professional short films I use my FX6 🎥 thanks for the video 🙏 #filmmakingismypassion
My canon 🤩 in the end I returned the Sony and am still using the canon, dropped it so many times the selfie screen is taped on but still usable. Thinking about going for iPhone 13 next and no more camera but 😩😩😩😩😩
You neglected to mention that the Canon has a full touch screen, which I believe the Sony does not. Once you use that touch screen, and see how easy it is to make changes without having to scroll through a menu, it’s tough going back.
Mine doesn’t have a touch screen… or does it!? If it does I’m gonna feel real dumb I’ve had it for 6 years and didn’t know 😅😅😅😅 gonna confirm after getting home
ok so i checked and you're right LMAO!!! but not a fully functional one like our cell phones. touch to focus (i knew that) what i didn't realize is you could select / change a few functions (which I always do through regular menu buttons on the camera), but seems like screen controls are very basic - ratio size, timer, recording size? i can't seem to get it to zoom or adjust brightness, flash, play back etc etc.
@@USJapanFam Read the manual. I haven’t found much that can’t be controlled by the touch screen (well, except for zooming and the shutter). In any mode, touch the “Q” in the upper right hand corner and that’ll bring up all the options for that mode on the touch screen. I love that damn screen. Makes my life soooo much easier.
the internal mic just wasn't as good as the canon and i'm not at a place where i want to deal with an external mic. i actually just bought an iphone 14 pro and am using that for on the go stuff now, and the canon is still hanging on by a thread for shooting product reviews at home but it really still needs replacement, the iphone isn't as good as it re. sound or video unfortunately, i was disappointed as I thought it would take over and I wouldn't need a regular camera anymore :(
I think it's a matter of taste but I found the internal mics from Sony way better than Canon's mic
It may be, and playing around with settings perhaps
Have you used both for photos? I’m interested in who wins for photos

thx I have both tried the g3 too but i feel gopro 10 is better for me quicker easier..
Ooooooh should I invest in GoPro?! It has a selfie screen? How's the internal audio???
@@USJapanFam I have the gopro 11 and I use the media mod which makes audio significantly better
@@Kaiinnovations what is the media mod, what’s it do
Yea but these cameras have much better zooms😮
No Mike jack, didn't know that😢😢😢😢, deal breaker! Another channel showed the stabilizer on the Sony and it was rocky; what do you think?
Finally a very helpful video. Thank you a lot!!!!!!!!!
My pleasure!!

look at the deity d4 duo mic it is great for filming kids and vlogs

It was a hard decision but I ended up returning the Sony 😭😭😭 I'm just not ready to commit to external mic 😬
hi I have the g7x mark iii and there is no auto focus issues I love it so much
@@nicodevitaa The recent update supposedly fixed the auto focus issue. Thanks for confirming that.

@@USJapanFam Thank you for mentioning that--no other video has mentioned the high/low advantage.
Really great properties on both.
Indeed!
Canon G7X Mark II 2016
Sony ZV-1 2020
Obviously Sony is more quality, but the stabilization is terrible.
Thank you❤
Would the sony be good for sit down videos or only vlogging… but normally vvlog style need like a wiser lense
I think Sony is great for ALL kinds of videos, just note about the mic not being great
@@USJapanFam from watching the comparisons in the sounds of the sony in ur video it actually didnt sound too bad.
The Canon shuts off in 10 mins …what?? Never heard this for the Mk ii and if this is true than it’s a deal breaker for me. :( thank you for the review

You are right about the white Sony ZV-1 I own both. I wonder why you didn’t go with the Canon G7X Mark III?
Ive head the mark 3 isn't as good as the 2, has some issues? Need to research i guess
Curious what you decided!
The G7x mark 3 has a focus issue.
omg. this really helped me! thank you so much.💕
You're so welcome!
The Sony menu totally sucks!
You’re fun and cute
Thank you ❤️
