The best speedrun i have seen so far in this AGDQ, and one of the best speedruns I have seen in general. Shoutout to the Speedrunner for an awesome performance, and commentary, also to the couch as well.
I wouldn't mind seeing that happen, but the problem is that the developer of these GBA games has not been made to create a game for Nintendo in a while, and the truth of the matter is that realistically only they could do a proper remake. Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages were basically Nintendo throwing Capcom the Zelda franchise (by proxy through Flagship) and seeing what they made of it. That collaborative effort would be lost in the remake even if it were to stay true to its original roots because every aspect of the game was made and designed by a third party developer. Also I think we can all agree that remakes are lazy and a waste of time and resources when we could be getting entirely new games instead. They profit off of nostalgia rather than their own merits--a strategy which is largely based in marketing as opposed to innovation and new ideas (both of which are sorely lacking in most games produced in the last ten years). The choice for a company to produce a game should be about the enjoyment of the game and creativity behind it, not based on how much it'll be projected to sell; at the end of the day good and unique games naturally rise to the top on their own with some help from marketing, not the other way around. Nintendo even continuing the Zelda franchise at this point is a testament to that considering its lack of popularity in their home market for quite a number of years--it's different now, but between the early 2000's and the release of BoTW (thanks to the Switch's portability), it was really not doing well in Japan.
Can we get a merged remakes please, I would like to not have to type in a giant password to connect my games to get the last boss. I'd like if it was a Wily Wars-style thing where you can use the opposite game's items in the other world, too, even if the seasons and ages only work in their respective world or in extremely limited bonus dungeon situations ala DX.
So happy I beat this game. No speedrun but enjoyed playing this over the course of a year. Wouldn't have thought of jumping hand to hand to beat the final boss. Excellent run n show.
Just after 41:11, AstrasEvolution says that the sound the magnet gloves make was sampled by skrillex for the Buoy Base theme for Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games. What? _What?_ Is this real? Was it a joke? It's funny and unexpected in the same way as a blatant lie for humor's sake, but strangely specific and out of place for a joke. The way the conversation follows this statement leads me to believe it was made up on the spot for an odd laugh, but everything else about it would suggest it to be a factual statement. This offhand comment sent me down an hour long rabbit hole of searching through credits pages for all the Buoy Base remixes I could find, and to no avail. Nowhere was skrillex's name to be found. Frustratingly, searching the credits for all the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games OSTs yielded the same results. Coming up empty and desperate for closure, I listened to hours of those same Buoy Base remixes, searching in vain for this sample of legend and never once coming across it. I have spent an unreasonable amount of time trying to validate this stupid claim, all for my own lust for answers, and what have I found? Nothing. If this sample doesn't exist, if it's merely a hoax, then never have I been more trolled by a comment with so little thought and effort behind it.
Growing up, I was stuck on the Tarm Ruins lost forest puzzle for the longest time (long enough that I gave up on it and came back after what felt like years later). I think I was never sure of the order of the months, and I guess tried winter, spring, autumn, summer but never the proper order until much later.
Ahh, my childhood. Very cool to see it finished in a fraction of the time I would take to complete it casually :D I never knew about the RNG stuff before this, either!
>A game on the NES that pioneered the adventure genre Hydlide was released in 1984. Legend of Zelda followed in its footsteps in 1986. So really, Zelda is just a Hydlide ripoff, and if that causes you mental and emotional pain, then this garbage-tier shitpost has served its purpose.
Being the first to do something is notable in the same way being the first to comment on a video is. That is to say, it isn't really. What matters is how it affects what comes after it. I have no idea what Hydlide is.
Reminder that Virtual Hydlide also did 3D action-adventure RPG involving annoying fairies before Ocarina Of Time ever did (1995 vs 1998), so OoT is just a Virtual Hydlide ripoff too!
But that's like saying StreetFighter didn't pioneer fighting games. Just because it was first doesn't mean it really did much. Also pioneer means "among the first" being second or third still counts

Watching this shows me how urgently we need the same Remake Treatment for Seasons & Ages like they did with Awakening.

100%. Now if Nintendo doesn't fumble the bag like it feels like they intentionally do some times, THEN the Switch will start to feel complete
Nah. What we need is a new original 2D Zelda game
Totally agree, those two were my first zeldas and I’ll always have a soft spot for them
Can we get a merged remakes please, I would like to not have to type in a giant password to connect my games to get the last boss.

FINALLY Seasons!
I relate to this one so much. Excited to watch
As a kid this was easily one of my favorite games. The items were awesome, I spent hours in subroisia farming ores, god I loved this game.
I love Seasons. One of the best of all times. It is nice to see how technical the run is and how it is executed very well. Thanks.
I had the pleasure of watching this on the live stream. Was a real treat to kick off AGDQ 2022!
Awesome. Excited for this one.
Oracle of Seasons and Ages are my favorite classic Zelda games, so it's super awesome to see at least one of them get a run in GDQ!
I'm glad they ran all essence instead of mcnugget% lol
it's more interesting to watch/run imo :3
So happy I beat this game. No speedrun but enjoyed playing this over the course of a year. Wouldn't have thought of jumping hand to hand to beat the final boss. Excellent run n show.
26:40
"Good new everyone! It's a suppository!"
This was a really funny and interesting run, thanks guys!
1:04:30, fun fact, the "cross" button is the official terminology for the X button.
So glad that was ran! Love this game
Childhood nostalgia LETS GOOOOOO. My brother and I had seasons and ages, we loved these games

You were completely trolled lmao, the strange specificity was part of the joke
one of my favorite games when i was a kid. very nice to watch it
Never got to play this game,, you made it look fun!
Both are on 3DS
After the fits that Seasons (and ages) put me through when I was a wee lad right when it came out, I can't wait to see someone rip it to shreds.
1:33:20 Ah, might as well jump (JUMP!)
Might as well jump
Go ahead and jump (JUMP!)
Go ahead and jump
I Loved It! 👍

when i was a kid i thought the little seasons bubble was a bus and i kept trying to catch it before it zoomed away
WOOO AGDQ 2022
great playthrough!!!
Legend of Zelda: Rondo of Blood. This needs to be a thing.
This is the first zelda I ever played it was on game boy advance sp the little square one man what good memories
back to my childhood
I was wondering where that Daily Recap was!
I wonder, which animal and which order would be faster for a Linked run?
I like how CAPCOM zeldas are probably best games in series.
Holy crap, Flagship is a Capcom subsidiary? Apparently Kirby and the Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad are Capcom games too!
Nice run and a remastered version would be nice but Capcom would have to be worked with.
played the game as a kid but i didn´t get Ricky got some kind of flying bear or something as a mount xD. Are the mounts set for each savestate ?
It depends on how you acquire the flute.
Wonderful
1:22:03 I would say those skeleton pirates have poorly aged :D
I would like seasons to come back in the Sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
The Legend of Zelda: Link Stops Eco Terrorism.
Also, Sword on A? What barbarism is this?
This isn't the only game that a main character gets trapped in a Rupee, Zelda gets trapped in a 50 rupee in Ocarina of Time!
The four jewels are the PlayStation face buttons? MIND. FUCKING. BLOWN.
that was amazing
All these sans and papyrus jokes... what year is it?
Din is best girl
Lol giant evil traffic cone
>A game on the NES that pioneered the adventure genre
Hydlide was released in 1984.
Legend of Zelda followed in its footsteps in 1986.
So really, Zelda is just a Hydlide ripoff, and if that causes you mental and emotional pain, then this garbage-tier shitpost has served its purpose.
Nooooooo Zelda would never rip off Hydlide I'm shaking and crying fr right now bc I stepped in shitpost
Being the first to do something is notable in the same way being the first to comment on a video is. That is to say, it isn't really. What matters is how it affects what comes after it.
I have no idea what Hydlide is.
Hydlide did it first
Zelda did it better
Reminder that Virtual Hydlide also did 3D action-adventure RPG involving annoying fairies before Ocarina Of Time ever did (1995 vs 1998), so OoT is just a Virtual Hydlide ripoff too!
But that's like saying StreetFighter didn't pioneer fighting games. Just because it was first doesn't mean it really did much.
