    Great review thanks 💡

    Thanks for the review. Side note: the reason the switch is labeled ON/ALT and not HIGH/LOW is because the ALT side of the switch is for some built-in effects like paparazzi and fire. Setting them up is not intuitive at all, (see manual) but they can be very handy in lieu of a Skypanel. Cheers.

      Ah, good to know! Thank you for the note.

    You can spot/flood those grids just by turning them around

    i thought the alt was for programmable effects, no high and low output. Am I wrong?

      I believe you are correct... programmable effects!

    What batteries will work on this unit? It's a 200w draw? I have some Granite Minis but wasn't able to get a clear answer from Litegear as to which v-mounts would power the 4 Plus at full power. Thanks.

      Hmm. Good question. I'm not sure. Just assumed a v-mount 150wH battery would suffice... just an assumption. I don't anticipate ever using a battery - one more thing that irks me about the LM design- paying for a battery mount I'll never use but no DMX. I suppose I am battery-averse after a few initial shoots with battery-powered Astras where the batteries died mid-take and I realized there was little to gain and lots to lose with batteries.

      Thanks Alan. I just bought a 4 Plus and I'll test it and report back to ya. My initial assumption is that two 150wh high demand batteries should power it at full intensity just not sure for how long. I also own some 6X Astras and they require at least 150wh high demand (10a continuous) to operate at full intensity.

    Litegear info page now talks about having DMX dimmer packs as an option. Alan's voice was heard! www.litegear.com/product/litemat-plus-4/

    Thanks Luke, I was wondering if you got any lux readings on the light by any chance?

      Sorry, that was more than a year ago, so I don’t have anything noteworthy to share😕

    Nice video. Thinking about ordering this for my TH-cam channel, but not sure if it overkill for me at this point. HMM

      It’s a quandary, right? In some ways the snap grid, or what I like to call, the soft crate, is an important component because you want the large, soft source in a light-weight, thin profile form factor, but you also want some control so that the light doesn’t go everywhere and light up the walls or too much of the immediate background. And when it’s for your studio, you may want to keep costs down more than if it’s for work on paid gigs:)

      @@meetthegaffer It is. I did set up these lights yesterday: th-cam.com/video/icTKnTx9ywg/w-d-xo.html, but I saw them on another channel and I said wow, awesome brightness. You think this panel would be too much for me based on how I am setup? Thanks!

      It seems to me you have plenty of light already. You may want to dial one back a little so there is some ratio between the left and right side of your face and the maybe use a edge light to separate you a bit from the background.

      @@meetthegaffer Thanks Luke. Maybe you just saved me some serious money :). For an Edge light, anything you recommend?

    • @meetthegaffer
      @meetthegaffer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could just be another of those units, if they are easy to come by, and mount it vertically on the camera left side of you frame and take down the intensity of the camera left unit so that the camera right unit is effectively the main source, the left the fill, and the left scratch provides a little separation. On just use one of you larger units on Cam right, let the ring light provide the eye lite and a little fill and use the second larger light vertically to scratch:) Lots of different ways to light you up!

    Luke which unit has more output litemat 4plus 200w or aladdin 1x4 200w? Color wise litegear seems a bit better

    Is it possible to gaffer tape this onto the ceiling or is it not recommended?

    • @meetthegaffer
      @meetthegaffer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending how tacky the surface of your ceiling is this might work, but you would want to keep an eye on it:)

    Do you have a preferred battery brand for powering these kind of LEDs?

    • @meetthegaffer
      @meetthegaffer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Justin, Alan would have to answer that one, as I don’t actually own any LiteMats. I like Blue Shape Batts and I have some IDX as well. I believe there will be more manufacturers coming out with V-mount and gold mount 24V batts to support the growing need for higher amps and voltage:)

    • @alansteinheimer4274

      See above answer - pretty only use batteries on Astras with a gun to my head! Bought the BtoB brand 150wH...have worked fine for me. I suspect one factory in China makes all the non-Anton Bauer batteries...
