I’m rubbish at skateboarding but I love it. Even though I can’t do any tricks I love the feeling of freedom of just cruising along . I have had old plastic boards in the 70s , pig decks like z flex z pig, currently got a new school no name complete in the shed and a mini logo deck but I gave up 2 years ago as I play guitar and was worried about damaging my wrists as I had been going to the park and rolling round and up banks and doing 180s and enjoying myself . I’m in my 50s now and am really missing just cruising along and being part of the scene , I have a home made Alva replica in the shed too and I always loved the art I have tons of stickers as I just love them , specially Santa Cruz and bones brigade . I am honestly thinking of getting myself a Santa Cruz cruiser like a roskop face or dot maybe for Xmas maybe sooner if I can find the spare dough . My next guitar is going to be Santa Cruz stickered up. So , out of interest , should I some 50 odd year old rocker dude who can’t Ollie, flip etc but still loves skating with a passion get myself a Santa Cruz complete cruiser so I can still enjoy both my passions of music and skating. Plus cruising along by the sea I am less likely to get mashed up on a ramp. I even dream about skating while I’m asleep sometimes. How many likes. An I get to say ‘buy that board’ ?
If you don't have one yet - try a SC cruiser or one of the old Reissue fat boards. I have a couple of big ass SC boards up on 60mm wheels, they ride like nothing else - they are stiff and responsive and the tails are shaped perfect for big guys like me.
his ollie into that overpass bank is one of the rawest things ever done on a skateboard. Its the only poster i Remember ever putting on my wall that shit still gets me juiced Every time i see it
Hearing him talk good about growing up/living in Santa Cruz makes me sad lol I grew up in a desert but Santa Cruz is probably my favorite place to visit. Good atmosphere & it reflects everywhere the ppl are friendly. I been a lot of places but something about SC is different.. can’t wait to skate those streets again 🤘
Used to get up at the crack of dawn in the summer to skate Derby when I was 10, 11, 12 years old. Last year I was there, we lived on Alta Ave and would come in the back way to Derby after cutting through Harmomy (I think)
THAT Santa Cruz cruiser he was riding is hella heavy !!!! Mine has some slime rails and THAT only added a couple ounces of weight but I KNOW how heavy mine is so his isn't much less !
For anyone wanting to know, the first and last songs are by Tallies. The first is 'Beat The Heart', the last one is 'Easy Enough'. They're awesome! Check them out here facebook.com/talliesband/
Skated derby ( had a swak sunglasses ad shot there ) tried ollieing the large gap at the end but didn't make it . Man you guys need some new parks , sure does suck here in San Diego ...lol. From Tijuana with tacos
Santa Cruz is the dopest place on the planet.
