Winter is a time for introspection, for self-care, for slowing down, having a coffee or tea and settling down to read a book as it snows or ( in the UK!) rains outside! Just savour the moment....

For those wondering, I believe this photo is taken in The Manor House, Cotswolds, UK.
You’re right, but to be specific: it’s “The Manor House” in the village of Castle Combe (which is in the Cotswolds region of England). There are many hundreds of manor houses across the Cotswolds, so it could be a bit confusing without the specific village name as well.

Very lovely and cosy for a winters day! For those who may be interested (and I'm sure some others have noted this as well) this building is The Manor House, a hotel in Castle Combe, UK. It's just round the corner from my house and every Spring I like to take my mum here for a mother's day cocktail on the green lawns that are under the snow in this video! 🥂✨

You shouldn’t listen to dark music in the winter simply on principle. You should be listening to the brightest sun soaked melodies such that you nurture and keep alive your inner summer.

Very Beautiful music to listen to inside a very warm huge mansion
as this with a very warm fireplace going and relaxing in front of the
fireplace and drinking hot coffee or chocolate and reading a book
while listening to the soft music and you forget that everything outside
is nearly covered in snow but you just sit there and read and listen to the
music and the rest of your family are upstairs asleep in their warm beds
but you always get up earlier than them and you spend hours in here
just reading and listening to the music have a great day and stay in

Winter, or any dark moment in our lives, is a good time to "Make friends with your demons!" as James Hillman cried before he died.
He'd learned it from Jung and his own encounters with his soul. Ancient Greeks knew long before to honor their Daemon.
The learned women and men of Spiritual Alchemy, the scholars, scientists, physicians and academics knew this.
Edgar Allen Poe did in his poem "Alone." CS Lewis gave us what conversations we might have with Screwtape.
But we have the benefit of beautiful Dark Academia music to enhance knowing our vice, vanity and iniquity.

The Light House
I watch enveloped in envy as the winds continued their expedition through the overgrown coffee hair of the man I had chosen to spend the rest of my life with secluded away.
It was already past the usual time for his haircut but I’d been pushing it back for my own contentment.
He’d let the birds use his hair as a miniscule playground. Speaking of birds, I think they liked him more when he had longer hair. I make this mental note as I watch Rio hop and land onto his head, a free estate of theirs. He knew he’d have to detangle his hair some time later but for now he enjoyed the additional attention, moving as little as he can.
I was itching to approach the fence and just join the birds at playing with his sun dyed coffee hair. But- “coo”; Bobo had just gotten cozy in my lap and it would be a crime to have to move him. So I let Bobo continue to use my muffler as a blanket and he continued to nibble at my finger. He was trying to eat any leftover rice crisp treat leftover from earlier from my fingertips. His rose tinted beak nipped gently against my thinning aged skin.
Bobo’s nibbles had interrupted my knitting. I was working at making Archie another scarf for the nearing winter but from the looks of it this one was going to Bobo too; just like the other three. The white color of the scarf looked cozy on the milk tea Bobo it was tucked around and into. Bobo had a particular habit or if I may say; courtesy: to kiss my hand before taking food from it. A bird who could stabilize any racing heart.
Archie on the other hand was resting his chin on his arm against the century old iron railing, petting the grey-white feathers of Lulu, while the other thirteen pigeons shared rice krispy treats among themselves. From the back he still looked like the man I’d come here with; not a day older than sixty-five. I wanted to shout to him about being careful and not leaning too much, but I knew it would disturb Bobo who had just shut his orange eyes. Bobo’s velutinous little chest heaved up and down gently with both his wings tucked in. I pulled the scarf so it covered a little more of his little cashmere head.
I had to fight off the urge to turn Bobo over so he’d lie on his back and I could give him belly rubs. If a bird bares their stomach to you, rest assured they trusts you with their life.
Instead, I tucked Bobo further into the scarf and shifted so I could rock him from the sun.
A sound of wings against the winds and Archie, my husband turns around eagerly about to tell me something. As the sun fell on his face, you could tell apart the places where time had kissed him on his face. The eyes and smile lines of a golden retriever, with an everlasting grin; the one of a happy man. Streaks of grey hair visible in the sun, falling over the only part of the face that still held its youth; his dark almond eyes. He had Woonal on his right arm and had frozen still at the moment when his eyes caught Bobo napping on me.
He willed himself to relax first, before approaching me slowly and taking off a note from our chestnut pigeon’s feet; a letter had arrived from the other side of the sea. He handed it to me wordlessly, still a fool’s smile playing at his lips.
I took it with trembling hands….it’d been exact fifteen years since the day I had run away with someone’s father.

I just want to fall asleep while listening to this song and never wake up again and i feel so selfish and dramatic because of that, but I truly fall asleep every night hoping i dont wake up and wishing i had a will to live.

I stared out my dorm window at the woods too far away.
Memories of the fall before and last summer picked at my brain like a nasty scab.
Dancing with a ghost, joining a group of lost boys to help souls find their way to the other side.
I couldn't remember anything after that. Something happened. But I don't know what.
They had let me go, I'd returned to the academy with only my memories of before things went wrong.
What did I do wrong? Why had they left me behind? It wasn't fair when I couldn't even remember the reason behind it.
But each time I tried to remember, one of two things happened. I would get a head ache, or I'd remember one thing.
A lost boy, and me, deep in the forest, with a kiss between our lips.
But that was all, I could never remember more than that, and it hurt so badly not knowing why he left me alone now.
I'm in md. The weather has bipolar but that's GOOD. It's january. I think it 'should' be like 30 degrees. It's like 60something. The snow is nice to look at. That's the only GOOD thing about getting it in winter. I don't have snow most years where I am. I wanna live in florida for 30 million reasons. I'm gonna get fake snow and cover my house

What is dark academia?
It's an aesthetic related to books, library, school but with dark or moody overtones. Not as harsh as gothic. Not as mainstream as nerd. It's a popular dressing style. It could be considered a subculture.
