As a woman, the chest strap is quite uncomfortable at times since it's in the same place as where my sports bra ends. I think I'll get this one since my Wahoo Tickr X (1st gen) died days ago. Thanks for this review!
Really like everything about the Verity Sense, expect the tab closure. The velcro isn't great quality, the tab is too small, and after just a couple of months of daily use, it barely "sticks" together. Any suggestions for a more secure strap? I've emailed Polar, but still waiting for a reply.
I have the same problem after just a couple of longer runs (~3hrs). I sweat a ton, but i didn't expect that to be a problem. I ended up just stitching it together (so the Velcro can't be opened). No issue with the sensor, even when I took it swimming. Using it with my Garmin 245.
I have a polar H10 but it rips my chest apart 😢 Looking for an alternative because the AW sucks as soon as it’s a bit cold. What’s your opinion on this in “cold” weather (under 15°C)? Thanks!
With the OH1 I find I get slightly better accuracy when I wear it on my upper arm rather than my forearm. I’m guessing the new strap is meant to be slid on like the original but it gives it more of a quick release to remove it?? I saw on another review that it’s far harder to flip over with the new mount. This is a big plus. Glad I’m not the only one who puts on a long sleeve baselayer and then realised they haven’t put this on!!
So we tried on both areas between the three of us and i think higher up the arm is generally considered to be better for accuracy if you feel comfortable wearing it there. Polar did relay to us that it's designed to make sure it doesn't flip over and that's definitely something we noticed in our time with it compared to OH1.
10:21 I've heard this a few times but it got me confused, if you pair it with your watch, wouldn't it start recording data just as a chest strap whenever you start the activity itself and discard data from before the activity? I mean technically a chest strap is also recording data the moment you put it on 🤔 I'm thinking about buying a Polar Verity Sense but this bit gets me confused every time I hear it.
Hi Juan, are you wondering if the Verity is good for all day tracking? It's very much workout based whether you pair it to a watch or start recording using it as a standalone.
@@TheRunTesters I've seen many people saying that the device records additional heart rate outside of the workout because you have to turn it on and put it on before you start a workout, so it will record a bit of your "resting" heart rate as part of the activity, does that also happens if you pair the verity sense to a watch and record the activity using the watch?
I have changed 4 chest straps, I used conductive gel but I always get wrong reading from time to time (especially when is cold). That's why I search for alternatives. I know that optical reading has a little lag, it's normal as the blood veines are a little slow to pickup the increase of intensity and might even not pickup some extreme increases by a few beats. My question is would you switch from chest strap if you cannot rely on chest strap readings?
The chest strap generally offers the most accurate readings. We find the opticals are more prone to errors. So we'd advise sticking with chest strap. Our top pick would be the Polar H10.
I just dont get it, if you can buy a hr chest strap why would you spend same money on a slower/riskier hr device? Comfort? I dont even notice I have a chest strap on, using the garmin hrm-run.
The main benefits are comfort and convenience. Some people just can't get on with chest straps, or need to have the HR sensor out of the way for different sports. This will also store workouts which lots of chest straps don't. The swim features also set it apart. But it's really down to wanting a different design to the chest strap.
I find forearm and upper arm optical HR monitors 99% as accurate as chest straps and more so at the beginning of runs and in winter where chest straps require wetting or gel and even then may suffer drop outs. Comfort for me is much, much better than chest straps.
I received Polar Verity Sense for Christmas. As this is unwanted gift (it's really crappy) I am trying to reurn it since then. Customer service either does not bother to reply or they do everything they can to not give you instructions how to return products. Then after 3 weeks they deman packing sleep in order to accept the return. What an anti-consumer greedy corporation. Guys, check trustpilot, don't buy their products.
I wouldn't use a Polar OHR if it was given to me. Went through three OH1's, due to abysmal battery life. They barely lasted four hours of activity and seemed to drain while just idle between runs.
They've taken the OH1 and made it better. It's certainly the same sensor setup, but there's some nice new features that we think make it worth paying a little more for. We imagine going forward it will end up replacing the OH1/OH1+.

It’s a good option if a chest strap isn’t comfortable for you.
Thanks for the different opinions! I got mine last week and already started testing it and it seems quite decent tracker!
Thanks guys! I’m buying one now.
Glad it was helpful. Let us know how you get on.
Nice review!!! Very nice indeed!!!
Thanks very much. Don't forget to subscribe to get more of the same in the future. 👍
Where do you see the heart rate while running?
Is the Verity Sense sensor the same exact size as the OH1 sensor? Can it fit in the OH1 strap?

Hi Steve, do you mean one to use on the Verity?
@@TheRunTesters Yes. Wish there was an aftermarket strap I could use. Polar strap "popped open" again on my morning run today. Annoying.

@@SteveSpeirs I wonder if Polar would send you a new strap for free? Garmin sent me a free clasp for my watch.

Actual duration of the battery oh1 vs verity?
(Sorry for my eng)
Hi bwhat happens if yr in the gym and you are doing bicep curls. Does this drop out?? Thanks
We've not been allowed in the gym for months here in the UK! Oh for the chance to find out!
@@TheRunTesters Ah of course! Thanks for reply pal ☺️

Can it connect to your polar beat app on mobile phone to record the session? I carry my phone when I run usually.
It can. And it'll now connect straight to Polar Flow too. Though Beat is the way to go for audio updates, distance tracking etc.

Cool weather is a chest strap killer lol

@@TheRunTesters but in terms of the accuracy of the heart rate, it is basically the same with OH1 right? No difference there eh?
