I've been through the decom process on the USS John C Calhoun SSBN 630 in 93. Took us 2 days to take everything we could that would fit through the hatch, thankfully I left before they started cutting her into pieces.
My grandfather was a metallurgist who made the alloys for a lot of those old submarines after his time in the navy. I thought it was so cool but I never got to talk to him about it because his mind started to go when I was little.
You ought to get your facts right. There is no USS ForestCony and never was. The Forrestal was the first of it class back in the early 50 and the first carrier with an angled flight deck. The Constellation was a follow-on ship of that class commonly called the "Cony".
Your wonderful videos would have much more credibility if you would take a little time learning how to pronounce the names of ships and equipment. Your pronunciation of the Bonhomme Richard as Bohom Richard is case in point.
WELL I KNOW WHERE THE SAIL OF THE U.S.S. Trident IS! It is sitting in a park on the shore of the Columbia River about 5 miles from where I am sitting right now!

@@guadalupe8589 There is no problem. I’m just emphasizing that copper isn’t a disaster to use on a hull and it is still used. Did I say it was a problem?
I get that valuable information is gathered from sinking old ships, but not really.. they sink old designs, after they’ve already been in service for 20-30 years.. it’s like crash testing a car after it’s already been on the road for 20 years to figure out how to make future cars more safe, even though you’re already driving those future cars before the test is even done .. also, no one’s on board to actually conduct damage control operations, so you don’t really get a good idea on how survivable a ship really is, all you really figure out is how much abuse the ship could take .. another thing, 4 countries all launching rockets, shells and torpedoes in a free for all fashion till the ship sinks doesn’t really tell you anything .. to understand how a ship gets damaged, you need to assess after each strike to see how the ships defense held up, how many decks the shells penetrated, but you can’t really do that when you launch a torpedo at it in the first strike, snap the ships back and have it plummet to the bottom .. It’s not worth the environmental consequences.. yes, marine growth does find a home living on, and in it, and as the ship decays, it’s poisons everything around it .. many ships still in service today in the U.S. navy have asbestos on them, as well as lead, mercury, hydrocarbons etc.. I know they “clean the ships as best they can, but a lot of these chemicals still remain..
@@Loafin2010 Ok dork. If you would read the rest of the comments there are many, many people who are concerned with the pronunciation of a Navy ship. I guess there are lots of princesses out there. Get a clue. Navy people are proud of the ships they served on.

Exactly, where does this dude get the information from? Recycling subs is not scary, it was my job for several years.

Agreed… however, it’s an AI read script
Love watching these videos, I wonder if you ever worked on a Bulova from 1943

Good video except for the ships names that were all messed up.

Russians just leave the boat in a hidden inlet and let it rot lol
Copper clad hulls and seawater seems like a disaster waiting to happen
Why.??
The anti fouling paint people put on boats and ships contains copper.
@@Chris_at_Homewhat's the problem with that?

🤣USS “ForestCony”?🤔
Not in my Navy.
Everything ends at some point!!!
These AI narratives need to be better programmed to pronounce the names of these ships………😮
Looks like BWX Technologies in Lynchburg Virgina will be busy.
