This is little different from our actual story...this is wrong...Mahabali was not arrogant ...He is the symbol humanity unity and only king who ruled without any discrimination among people..He is kind and loving ruler..He treated his subjects as his own children...So we consider him as our most lovable king...The God's become jealous of him as he serves his subjects so lovably and caring manner that people started to workship him instead of God..So mahavishnu was forced to end his chapter and due to his very loving nature and kindness ..he was blessed with a boon to visit his subjects once in a year... Don't try to manipulate the real story

You might have a point but there is a lack of clarity on some things , I'm not trying to be oversmart or rude just want to state a some facts ,,gods can never be jealous first of all because they are gods ,, you confused god with devas ,devas are different than gods ,,asuras and devas are brothers but because devas chose to help humanity and favour earth they were worshiped but asuras used their power only for themselves and their community, only one Asura which is varuna he is worshipped because inspite of being in asura's clan he favoured humanity so he is worshipped as Deva ,,, varuna deva ,,and the Mahabali was a king ,good king no doubt about that , he was very generous towards everyone but he gathered ego over the year that's a nature of lakshmi ,,,it influences mind on so many levels so he became egoistic about his wealth and power ,he didn't needed devaloka or swarga for himself but he won those places to prove his power and intellect so out of His egoistic pride he promised Vamana that he'll give him anything he desires,,,so vishnu showed him that only his three foot land when he is in a form of a dwarf is equal to all his wealth that he gathered over his lifespan ,,so mahabali surrendered and understand that wealth is nothing compares to bhakti and real true achivement is mukti ,,so after giving everything to Vamana he worshiped Vishnu for all his life ,so it was a story of true knowledge and true wealth i hope you get the point,,.

With due respect, Bali was depicted kinda differently here. Vishnu took the steps by request of other gods. Bali was devoted to Vishnu from the beginning, thus he was so strong and when he realised the Baman is the Vishnu himself, he offered his head for third step with respect that pleased Vishnu and awarded Bali with a Boon to visit his kingdom once a year.

    Best version of the tale:
King Bali (Asura from Patal Lok) and conquered every land in the 3 realms, this caused all the devas to seek Vishnu's help. Vishnu knowing Bali was his great devotee, he took the form of Vamana and went to kingdom of Bali and asked for 3 steps of land. Since Bali was a extremely good king to his subjects, Vamana forgave him for his ego of thinking of him being the "Most generous" and on the touch of his 3rd step sent Bali back to his home in Paatal lok, allowing him to visit his kingdom once a year which is the time of Onam still celebrated to this date in Kerela.

Myself a keralite..story is somewat misinterpreted here
The story goes that the beautiful state of Kerala was the capital of the Asuras King Bali.. The King was greatly respected in his kingdom and was considered to be wise, judicious and extremely generous. It is said that Kerala witnessed its golden era in the reign of King Bali. Everybody in his kingdom was very happy, there was no discrimination on the basis of caste or class. There was neither crime, nor corruption. People did not even lock their doors, as there were no thieves in that kingdom. There was no poverty, sorrow or disease in the reign of King Bali and everybody was happy and content.
Looking at the growing popularity and fame of King Mahabali, devas became extremely jealous. They felt threatened about their own supremacy and began to think of a strategy to get rid of the dilemma. The main reason why Devas felt threatened is that Mahabali was treating everyone equal which means he was against caste system.
It was said Mahabali was very generous and charitable. Whenever anybody approached him for help or requested for anything he always granted.Devas thought of exploiting this generous quality to kill the King.Lord Vishnu disguised himself as a dwarf and a poor Brahmin called Vamana with this plot. He came to the Kingdom of Mahabali.
Disguised as Vamana, Vishnu said he was a poor Brahmin and asked for a piece of land. The generous King said, he could have as much land as he wanted. The Brahmin said that he just wanted as much land as could be covered by his three steps. The King was surprised to hear but agreed.

After King Mahabali agreed to grant the land ,Vamana began to expand and eventually increased himself to the size of cosmic proportions. With his first step the Brahmin boy covered the whole of earth and with the other step he covered the whole of the skies. He then asked King Mahabali where is the space for him to keep his third foot.

The king would not go back on his word and so asked him to place his last step on his head so that he could keep the promise. Impressed by Mahabali’s generosity Vamanan offered Mahabali the kingdom of Patala( underworld). He accepted that with pleasure, on one condition of allowing him to visit his beloved people once a year. Onam is the festival of welcoming the ancient ruler Mahabali.

so you mean to say:- "Devas" are frightened of "Caste abolishment" and Asuras are good/righteous people who believe in equality of Human beings and Vishnu is an idiot who fell for Devas' plan.
I prefer the version of Sri Sri where "Abolishing of Ego" is the message.
But your message is Devas (evil people) always get things done their way whereas Asuras (good people) cant even defend. Caste angle is really good imagination.

@@benhursudheer5799 Mahabali is described in early Hindu history as a benevolent and generous king. He ruled without discrimination, and his people were honest, healthy and happy under his rule.[6] Mahabali also temporarily possessed the amrita (nectar for eternal life) obtained by the asuras.[7] The amrita allowed his associates to bring him back to life after his death in one of the wars between suras and asuras.[8][7] Mahabali was, thus, immune from death. After many wars, the invincible Bali had won heaven and earth. The suras (Devas) approach Vishnu to save them. Vishnu refused to join the war or kill his own devotee Mahabali. He used a tactical approach instead and incarnated as the dwarf Brahmin avatar, Vamana. While Mahabali was performing Ashvamedha Vedic sacrifices to celebrate his victories and giving away gifts to everyone, Vamana approached him and asked for "three steps of land".[8][9] Mahabali granted him the gift. Vamana then metamorphosed into Vishnu's giant Trivikrama form, taking all of heaven in one step and earth in second. Mahabali realized that the Vamana was none other than Vishnu and offered his own head for the third step.

This is a very simple yet profound video on the subject of Ego. Though Mahabali was such a righteous king, it is still this component of ego and pride that make one lose what they already have. While Lord Vishnu equally rewarded Mahabali more than he actually punished him, it is still to be noted that pride goes before fall, if the snatching of heaven and earth from Bali need to be considered as a fall for his ego. We have covered both the good and bad aspects of Bali in our channel. My KG child has presented the story taking up the typical questions that one would get hearing this Onam story. If interested, please watch ours too.

Good animation. But I guess the backstory needs bit of tweaking. The Devas were jealous of King Mahabali's rule, prosperity and Lord Vishnu took the form of Vamana to show the magnanimity of King Mahabali & being a man of his word, his heart bigger than it's weight in gold. Thus Onam was celebrated to mark the return of King Mahabali to rejoice the humanity and unity in Kerala.

    Sir, you are mistaken.
    The story is different.
We, the people of Kerala celebrate Onam expecting the return of Mahabali. Because before sending to paathala Mahabali asked Vamana to allow him to visit the people of Kerala once in a year. And that day is celebrated as Onam.
It is the rememberence of the prosperity and equality provided by Mahabali during his ruling period.
During Onam , we are expecting Mahabali to come, and see his people living happily with prosperity.
Here, he was the victim to Devendra's greed, and lord Vishnu stood with Devendra to end Mahabali's rule (only because he was Asur king)
And Mahabali was a great Vishnu devotee. So he was happy to do anything for his beloved lord, and showed Vamana his head as third step!!!
