We called it the boom boom bus. We got married 20 years ago next year in beautiful Barbados. See you next year wonderful people for our anniversary trip. Bajans are the nicest people on earth. Ireland loves you ❤️. Greetings from the Emerald Isle 🇮🇪
I'm NOW seeing this! And I find it quite entertaining and funny. You made me laugh loud at the party hat comment! But thank you so much for this video.
Nice video, I love seeing Barbados through the eyes of visitors. The area you called "Mahogany Bay" is really "Paynes Bay" and the property you refereed to as Sandy Lane Hotel is really "One Sandy Lane" which is 8 private villas. From 8:36 - 8:55 in your video is when you were passing Sandy Lane Hotel.
I have frequented these rides, and they freakin rule the transport world. Never a dull moment (unless your reggae phobic) and if UK took similar action, we'd all enjoy , not annoy each other -hooray- with the charges we pay, we deserve something cool?
J. Chris Payne, please be informed that the drivers do not play regular FM radio. The amount of expletives heard on the minibuses are not permitted to be played on public radio. The minibuses play DJ mixes.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊bus 🚌 rides are great for picnic's over the weekend from a safe terminal 😊. ALL RUM BARS RESTAURANT'S WILL BE SAFE ONCE YOU GET TO OISTINS Fish fry Christchurch..!
i am really enjoying this video I am actually supposed to be on my way to St. James (the route in the video now) but im sitting here watching it!! haha
lovely island loved the "reggae" buses, transport is a bit safer than in trinidad, my fam is from speightstown many moons ago but now the descendants are all over. some in port of spain some in america and some like me in europe. even some in africa
Just thought I'd share some interesting geographical stats about this video with you all. Not surprisingly The top viewership of this video is in Barbados where 13,000people (about 3% of the population) have viewed it. Followed by the US and UK, each with about 6000 views, and Canada with about 2000. The US, UK , and Canada are the biggest tourism markets for Barbados. Germany at number 5 has about 500 views, and while you may not see German tourists as frequently in Barbados, you are almost guaranteed to see at least a few if you spend a week on the island. Interestingly enough, France which I would also say is a source of tourism in Barbados only makes it to number 15 with about 100 views. This video has been viewed in 168 countries. Four countries with over 1000 views, 13 other countries with at least 100 views. Among the top 25 countries, Guyana has the top average view duration at 4:11, and Canada has the top average view duration in a non Caribbean country at 4:06, and Ireland has the largest viewcount outside continental North America at 3:43. Bajans on average view the video for 3:43. (Are you guys telling me the video is too long??). Highest view duration in the top 25 countries tends to be in the North America and the caricom region, no surprise, except that most of the countries beat out Barbados itself. If it weren't for Bim, view duration in the caricom would average out at about 4mins. Next comes the British Isles at around 3:30, followed by Australia at about 3:00, followed by the EU at around 2:40, South America is around 2:20 and in most asian countries they can't stand watching the video for much more than 2:00. Now 3 dudes watch my video in Pakistan.. BUT it looks like all three watched the video in its entirety! One guy in Benin must have clicked the video by accident, and another guy in South Sudan watch the first 6 seconds and said "screw that!"
Word of advice from a Bajan living abroad. These videos are informative to tourist bro so when doing them, do a caption for points of interest that you may be passing by just incase a potential tourist may views it. Love the video and keep it up. I will do my part in sharing them for sure.
Hey thanks for the feedback and promo Sugarfree. I've done captions in my other videos which show more tourist destinations and landmarks, but I'll do the few that are here as well.
You didn't mention the amount of smoke that comes out the back of those things!! Still, that's not enough to keep me away! I go there every year and will be moving there in 2020!!
Cool video. Been a seeker my whole life, and we're thinking a lot lately of trip to Barbados, seems lively and different. How did you film this? Hidden camera?
Hey Billy, what have you been a seeker of? Haha no hidden camera here, I just used a regular HD point and shoot. People are pretty easygoing as long as you don't stick it right in their face without asking. They know that people's youtube videos promote tourism to the island. Barbados is a really cool place, it's a unique mix of cultures, activities and backdrops. Great shopping for the shopper, scores of unique restaurants for the foodie, some great nightlife, pretty easy to get around, pretty safe, lots to nature trails/botanical gardens. The island is large enough that you don't feel trapped on an island, but small enough that you don't waste 2 or more hours travelling anywhere, and believe me there is tons to do. The southwest coast is where the party is at, the west and northwest coast is luxury central, and the east coast is less developed and ruggedly beautiful. These buses are just one small unique aspect of a very unique island.
TdotSoul just so you know...that small pyramid you passed is a marker for the spot just off shore where a cubana airlines aircraft crashed way back. It's a memorial
Haha seeing this for the first time and I see one of my workmates on the minivan in he uniform lololol I have to catch them everyday to go to work in Payne's bay i didn't think the island looks this pretty from the window of a minivan but it really does nice video
love the video just hope that some people watch this dont think that how the road are from Holetown to Eagle hall that was shown in this watch. also very true in some ways
😊music is sometimes on these vehicle's 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊nice filming of all locations i know while waiting & paying the bus 🚌 fare of do you knock how many dollars i know per ride to get to your stop to enjoy beaches bar's restaurants! A bus ride is a tour too once you haven your map!
hey u would have to catch a number 6 zr if u want to go to Kensington the vans also pass there but since i dont ho that direction by bus much im not sure which ones go there
I like the mini bus system more then islands with ONLY the offical bus because the minibuses run more often but I remember the ones I rode in where a lote smaller then this kind of a minvan
Which of the other islands have official buses? Only ones I know are Bim, Jamrock, and T&T . The smaller buses you went on, depends which island you were on because Barbados has the small minivans that most of the other islands have (they call them ZR vans) but they also have the midsized buses featured in this video, and the large government owned transit buses.
Aruba has an official I think San Andres also and the Bahamas I missed the minibuses while in Aruba because the official bus only seems to run once an hour but in Barbados and the Caymans all you had to do was walk to the street and they would coming honking offering a ride
Fatelvis2 I wouldn't expect Aruba to go that way, I think the laws there are stricter about that kind of thing. I did know about their public bus service though. It is nice to have the choice though.
Oh wow :( I understand what they are trying to do, and fares have been very low for such a long time, but hiking the fare $1.50 overnight it going to hurt a lot of people!
Actually all buses (private and and government) in Barbados are required by law to stop at the official bus stops and could be made to empty their passengers or pay through the court if reported by the police. Not stopping at a stipulated bus stop is a risky choice they private buses take to get a customer.
Ooh I see! I guess it must be one of those laws where the police use their discretion. Like here in Ontario, the speed on the highway is 100 kph, but people on average do 120 kph.
Not really. Transport board more often stays on route but police do stop minibuses and ZR. Very often they get away with doing what they want and sometimes they check if a specific route is okay with the passengers
This whole issue of minibuses and ZRs not stopping at bus stops, harks back to the initial regulation which stated that they must NOT stop at bus stops, because those were reserved for the government run Barbados Transport Board buses. Then the regulation was changed to state that all buses and vans (ZRs) must use the said bus stops. But by that time, they had become accustomed to not using the stops! And it''s been an issue ever since. (At least, that's what I've recently learnt.) But contrary to popular belief, many of the drivers do in fact obey the regulation.
Oliver Dewar that's inaccurate on a number of levels. I'm not 100% sure about the yellow buses, but I'm pretty sure the chassis and motors are shipped in from Japan, but I believe the bodies are made in Barbados.
