I've been there numerous times over the past 4 years since moving to Scarborough. Sad to see them go after 50+ years in business, their MOJO Burger was one of the best burgers I ever tried. Much better compared to McDonald's or other fast food places. The prices have gone up over the years, sad to see it go, hopefully they reopen in the near future. Good luck to George and his family, all the best.
Just allowed the business to operate within the condo, we have few condo with convenience store attached in my town, just treat it as a condo cafe, talk to your local government for zoning and bylaws for ventilations man.. re-open that restaurant and charge a dollar more on the menu, I live in a place where they charge 18.99 for chicken Cesar salad, so whenever I’m back in Scarborough seeing the price local restaurants are offering it warms my heart
I had so many memories of the Real McCoy growing up in this neighbourhood. Banquet burger, fries and gravy, pizza. Delicious. It's been so long since I've been back. I hope to checkout the new place once it opens.
Yes we use to work right across the street at the ESSO Carwash in the early 1980's .... There was always a warning 🚧when ordering at the Real McCoy's their French Fries.... Never ever get the GRAVY ! lol haha True story 🚨🚔⏳🚽🧻🪣🪠 Cramps City !!! Hopefully things have improved over the following decades of service for this iconic landmark....
Im so sad!! I have gone there since I was a teenager in the 70's. I know George well, as I know his Mom and knew his Dad! Beautiful people all of them. Great Quality food!!
I've lived in Scarborough for pretty much all my life. Never heard of this place, but sad to see a long standing business be put out for condos. I wish the owner the best of luck and hope he can reopen someplace else.
How can you not hear about this place? This and Johnny's Hamburgers are Scarborough staples among restaurants (and maybe even Markham Station). They've been around for decades which is quite rare.
@@hasibchowdhury1742 I've heard of Johnny's because I live near there. But I guess it's because I don't frequent that area. It's sad though that good businesses are being forced to close for more overpriced condos
I agree. It was a good burger but not worth all the hype I heard about it. There are still a few places you can go for a good homeburger- T Bones on Eglinton near Midland, Johnny Burgers Vic Park and Sheppard, Sharmrock burger by the Highland Creek Overpass.
@@pacman3556 Ya. I never really found the Mojo burger something had to get everytime. I been to TBones Shamrock and Johnny's. And didn't feel any of them are really that much special either. Probably been back to Johnny's the most. Although I'm from Scarborough. I actually prefer Apache Burger in West end. But The Real McCoy was always good for a pizza slice I felt.

We were so spoiled having The Real McCoy within walking distance during my high school years at Woburn. Love those guys

Can you set up in a 53’ trailer (tractor trailer)? Can be moved almost anywhere.

Sad state of affairs for local family owned businesses.
Thanks Doug
Yes, they wouldn't be closing if NDP or Libs were in charge . Lol.
Development is absolutely necessary....housing is in short supply and more units are a very good thing
Doug actually visited the restaurant when he was campaigning in the last election. It's the City Hall people in the pockets of the developers lol
I can’t believe they are going to be shutting down too. This is so upsetting.
So sorry to see you go 😢😢
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
I’ve been going there since high school!!! Please no!!
I m living infront of that building. I can see store from my apartment windows. Now I can’t see 😢
This place was a staple of my diet in the 80's. Good times
I need to visit this place really soon! I’ve always heard good things about their burgers! Mojo burger will be the first for me

man i'm about to cry
George sorry to hear about real mccoy
They failed to mention that there used to be two or three curved apartment buildings that where adorable there and nocked down for those rich condos
* affordable
Great song in the 90s
Late night runs for a far slice are going to be missed. Grew up those…
And the "retail opportunities" in the condos are going to be chain stores/restaurants lol
🥺🥺🥺
MOJO burgers are going away...noooo
The place has been going downhill for the past 15 years

😬👈 YIKES
To be replaced by Chinese restaurant with zero English menu or Indian beryani house
no it is going to be replaced with condos. But nice attempt at being a closet racist.
@@mazessa1320 Doug Ford has nothing to do with this. Not everything is political. Stop being a little drama queen
so good food got it

@Mazes S A I'll be honest I didn't but what difference does a ccp takeover of business make to a ccp takeover of real estate, let's be honest

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
That place is filthy. Went there one time and while waiting for my food looked around, saw the fish decor and it was caked in dust.
Sad....i never are there but from reviews sounds great😔🙏
