    He served a one of the first Navy Seabee's (construction battalion) during WWII. In this video he talks about growing up in small town Iowa, the great depression, his life in the South Pacific (Guadalcanal, Bougainville, New Caledonia)

    My grandfather was a part of the 40th Seabees in WWII. Real men.

    My Grandfather was with the
    75th Seabees New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, Bougainville.. I’ve got all of his photographs he brought back from the war. Their all from Bougainville.

    my great uncle was a Seabee in the 105th. I've learned so much about this brave, resilient men doing research on them for a family history school project.

    My grandfather was part of the 1st Seabees…. I have his albums…. And great trench art. God bless everyone of these men for what they all saw and went through…. Truly, the bravest and greatest generation….

    My grandfather was too. Served in Davisville in 1943 and then assigned to the USS Pentheus. Quartermaster

    First Thank You for our service. My dad signed up Dec.7 1944 at 17 and spent 2 yrs' in NCB 147 in japan then got out, then my uncle told me dad sold a rifle to him and hitch hiked to ca. and joined ACB 1 and spent almost 5 yrs. and saw action in Korea.

    I came recently came across my Uncle's scrap book - He was Seebee 58th Battalion, Company B, 2nd Platoon. Some great stuff
    in there.

    Dad was in noumea, new caledonia with the 20th ncb. Camp seabee was established at Noumea, 20th did a lot of prep before
    NCB 53 arrived.

    my grandfather was one of the early seabees as well, I don't know what unit he was in but I do know that he was deployed to Okinawa

    Dengue fever, boils, malaria, scrub typhus, stinging centipedes, snakes...the pacific was hellish, many died of bad water, combat, and disease.
