- In this video, we invite a special guest in the form of Mr Neel Dalal, working as a middle grade registrar in Orthopaedics and about to be awarded his Mch soon. We discuss and compare this Mch to the one we know as a super-specialty degree in India. Hope you all find it helpful and please feel free to reach out to us with any queries.

Very informative videos clears a lot of doubt of an orthopaedic surgeon who wants to get in uk health care system. And also I am so pleased to see Ekansh whom I know from my postgraduate training days as a wonderful person. Keep growing guys and keep bringing more videos like this.
Thanks Ankur for the positive feedback. @ekansh debuka would be happy! :)
This video helped me clear so many doubts about this course. Thank You !!!
The MCh Orthopaedics in Dundee is for 9 months as said in one of their videos. Does it carry the same weightage as in Liverpool or Edinburgh which is for I guess 2 years?
You're absolutely correct.. the point here is what do you really understand by the term weightage ?
It's a matter of opinion, but the longer programs give you a chance to be a part of the system longer which gives you greater exposure but then takes longer
hello, very informative talk. i have completed my general surgery residency , looking forward for mch minimal access surgery program , can you help me with any leads/ contacts . also how can i compare or get information about various trust providing the same . it would be very helpful if you can provide me with some reference or way out to proceed.
thank you.
How much do we earn approximately during Mch post taxation? They say 45000 gbp per year but is that post taxation or what’s the in hand income?
Please have a look at the taxation policy on HMRC and you will find exactly how much you can expect to make.

Mch student can bring dependent with them as per new rules ???
Can this course be used a bridge to frcs and if yes after how long? With regards to using this course for UK work experience and satisfying competencies for FRCS
Hello sir currently I am in my third yr residency (orthopedics ) in India . When sud i apply for the course after completing my ms or cv has to be send in advance as they are accepting cv for the session 2023 sept ....I am curious that I will be eligible just after completing my ms or we need to gain experience before applying for the mch course
No harm in sending your CV in. But given the number of applicants, they might only consider you once you've passed your MS.
what options after mch? In UK .. Can we work after mch . Do we need mrcs or plan ?
Thanx ,its a nice informative video....i have 2 questions..this 2 year Mch is a fixed tenure,if i want to extend my training then without completing mrcs ,will i be eligible to work further based on my 2 yrs work performance???or i have to clear MRCS within these 2 yrs to extend my Mch training
My 2nd question is after completing 2 yrs, my formal Mch is finished...so under what designation i ll work there after that
Plz clarify
Thank you Pathikrit,
You do not NEED the MRCS to work further however it is helpful to have it to secure other jobs post your Mch.
You would work as a middle grade post completion of the Mch.
@@EkanshDebuka Hi so after MCH we can work as orthopaedician without MRCS indefinitely?
@@doctorabin If you can get a job sure but the odds of getting a good job are higher if you have the MRCS !!
Ohh and can this degree help in obtaining an st 3 position at a later date
No it doesn't directly.. we've spoken about it at length in our videos. It aids in getting another point on the interview .
can we continue working in UK after completing MMED/Mch or we return to home country after completing the course like MTI ?
Yes you may continue if you can secure a job outside of the course.
What are the fellowship opportunities after finishing this course.
Hi Joga, i would say the best possible answer is that not much. However, you can still land fellowships, based on your entire CV and the amount of work you have done in India, which should be well documented in the form of logbooks, years of experience of work, previous fellowships, publications and of course, if shortlisted, how you perform during the interview. Do not rely on the MCH course itself to get fellowships. Also know, the reason why this is, is because most fellowships cater to post CCT level people, or at least those who have completed the FRCS and are at the end of ST6 or 7, which is nearing a consultant position. Junior consultants in the UK are also considered for fellowships, so this course is quite far from these targets in the UK, unless you have 6 - 8 years of orthopaedic work experiecnce post MS, and documentation of all the work you have done. hope this helps. you can reach out to us on email for more information.
When you join Mch, do you join in as a ST1?
Secondly if you clear your MRCS and then join, is there a difference in stipend and course fees?
As an Mch .. you don't join on the training program. You work like a middle grade.
The MRCS doesn't change your stipend or fee but you could enquire with the course leads about the fee to be sure.
Sir please tell if this is a good option for a ms general surgery candidate who have already completed MS .. since it’s difficult to find a job in UK even after clearing MRCS
Good or bad depends on what you are looking for and your personal circumstances.. !!
But it is definitely worth considering as a serious option.. weigh up the pros and cons and at the end have to take a judgement call !
Do they pay any stipend during the Mch tenure
Yes .. you're paid as per the NHS pay scale.

@@EkanshDebuka Is it enough. to sustain there or do you need to depend on allowances from home
@@lemmeplz You might need a little money to start off but it is generally enough once your salary starts coming in. You obviously wont be buying yachts or luxury holidays if thats your desire :p !!
@@EkanshDebuka no just so that i don't have to rely on parents or loan. Plus is there provision to work weekends and earn extra money
@@lemmeplz Definitely, you can sign for locums on your off days and even on weekends !!
These guys are just trying to glorify a degree where you work as 1st yr PG and then a 2nd yr PG. The preference and teaching are given to their own traineess (UK PG). Along with the hefty fee your paying. Plus depending upon which trust you are working.
Sorry but So much attitude on your face sir blue tshirt
