    A very charming video, the little wooden box is so lovely, what a kind dad. Very impressed you got this well-loved toy sewing so neatly!

    Great video! Thank you.
    I Loved watching this … I have a collection of these little Vulcans made in Poole, UK. This is commonly known as the ‘Dumpy’ … I have two of this model and one is chain driven.
    Love these little beauties.

    When ever i resvue a machine i let the owners know i have a channel they can watch to see it come back to life , that way they still have a connection to the machine , 80% of the time they are family owned machines and i always ask is there nobody in the family who wants it ? Like you i feel it should stay in the family but if its moving on then i will take good care of her ...👍👍

    The best feature of this machine is the needle auto stop position which you control yourself (:

    The solution to just keep screw and nut in place by the cover is a pretty neat idea and avoids drilling a hole into the machine. It would've been nice to get rid of the rust, especially on the needle plate to have a smooth surface again for the tissue to glide with less resistance and finally oil the moving parts to make it run smoothly. Keeping the rest of the patina is a good decision.

      Thanks. The needle plate appears to be painted and the rust is definitely something I will deal with. This video was really only to see if I could get the machine up and running, not a restoration video. Thanks.

    P.S. you also have me wondering if this could maybe be an easier-to-find needle I could use with my toy sewing machines… the Singer 20 ones.

    Greetings! some expertise wanted if anyone got the time :D Basicly, i got a old Husqvarna Viking Opal 650, it was a old school machine that had some needle clamping issues and some other minor stuff wrong with it, they were gonna toss it out, friend of mine rescued it with the thoughts of fixing it, newer got to it, then dumped it on me :D
    Now i've managed to solve all the issues except one, the Needle clamp. The screw for it was completly striped, so i tried to get a new clamp. but APPARENTLY! those aren't available around here.... so i had to get the entire Needle rod, no worries there, got the part, realised its been changed a bit so i had to replace the entire needle bar+clamp, not just the clamp...... and i think i might have goofed :c
    The needle bar is obviously meant to be in a certain position, its held by 2 clamp's that are screwed so i can adjust it up and down, but it just don't want to play nice :c Either it doesn't seem to want to catch the bobbin thread, or it does, sweeps around the bobbin case then gets stuck and rips the bobbin case out of its place, with a nice lump of tangled top thread under the fabric ;-;
    Its a bit of a wild shoot i guess, but Repair manuals also seem unavailable (Or expensive) so i've been scouring the internet and came across this lovely place ^^ so yea, any expertise on what to do about it would be greatly appreciated. i've done to much to toss it out now D:
    Kind Regards

    There's no need to drill and tap all the way through the whole machine if you were going to drill and tap and put a screw in it..😂

      There's not enough thickness there to drill and tap so it wouldn't last five minutes. I wanted a more permanent solution. Thanks.
