Listening to this four years later. It's still beyond me how this didn't finish in the top 3. Absolutely amazing lyrics, great performance, so deep and honest.

You can't really see it on the video, but while kobi entered the stage and started to sing ALL THE AUDIENCE just GOT UP FROM THE CHAIRS AND WE WERE ALL STANDING FOR THE ENTIRE SONG!!!! it was AMAZINGGGGGG it was like standing for a the king that entered the room. It was amazing there was so much love in the air.

Aaah, yes, the well-known block voting where the participating countries forgot to collude against Israel in 2018 and accidentally crowned them winners and then they remember to collude again in 2019 so they made sure Israel got last place in the final. Maybe people just didn't like the entry enough to vote for it. It got bottom 5 in both the televote and jury vote, after all.
@@PhilipWester Both juries and televoters don´t like to vote for the country that won the year before. They want to have the winners switch around at least moderately. I predict that at some point people will even start to vote for Britain again, subconsciously just because they haven´t won for so long.
@@robertdegroot8302 Yeah, no. In 2016, Sweden got 6th in the televote and 9th in the jury vote after their victory in 2015. In 2015, the juries gave Austria 13th place after their victory in 2014. In 2014, Denmark got 13th place in the televote and 10th place in the jury vote after winning in 2013. And in 2013, the juries gave Sweden 3rd place after their win in 2012.
There isn't a pan-European conspiracy. People just like different music and songs from what you like.
@@PhilipWester I'm not arguing there's a conspiracy. I'm arguing for a subconscious bias that makes people reluctant to vote for the host nation. This would explain why the host nation always underperforms compared to their average results. I also think there's a subconscious bias against Australia, where a significant minority doesn't really want to see a non-European country win, causing it to often fall just outside the top-10 in televotes. Not everybody is (equally) susceptible to this, so obviously the quality of the song is going to determine the results more than anything.
Juries are a bit different: they also like to vote for Sweden because they want to associate themselves with that industry (since their names and voting records are public), and not lose status in the music scene for having voted for a quirky or kitsch song, like with Norway last time.
@@robertdegroot8302 What do you mean always? I literally gave you several examples where the host nation did well. Denmark got SECOND in 2002, Germany (GERMANY!) got 11th in 2011.

That means you can vote for a song, but that song get 0 points because 10 songs were more voted on from your country. I voted for Portugal this year but Sweden gave them 0 points…
