People can have different opinions but I'd go with the Verna coz it's a sedan which has good performance and people who like sheer performance they would also prefer Sedan. Even though both are 5 seater, still Creta would have a little better space. People take Creta as an SUV but it's just a compact crossover. Anyways opinions will differ, if someone wants big space and size then they would take the Creta, if they want performance then they'll choose the Verna.
totally agree with your opinion. now, india has good infrastructure and highways, there is no need for suv if u usually travel in cities and highways, and also creta is not a real suv, it's jacked up hatchback. and about space, verna has better sapce due to high wheelbase (except headroom), so it's better to go with verna and get better handling, performance and space.
I also agree, and also the claim about turbo not giving mileage above 12 i didn't agree with as i saw a video the other day people getting 14-15, i have the new diesel creta and u don't get.more than 13-14 in city
space rear is better in verna than creta , 3 adults can sit in the backseat of verna but not in creata. the only problem is for tall person and it doesnt have adjustable headrest

I drove both cars, here is the mileage i got. Turbo dct was giving just above 11, even when I was driving pretty fast. But most of it was on highway. (So 10 to 12 in city conditions, without revving hard is about right imo). The ivt verna gave me a mileage of 8, without driving fast, but in city conditions with lots of speed breakers and low traffic. This I couldn't understand.. the salesperson also didn't have an answer to this..
Why is creta diesel so hard to get.. in surat they are saying a waiting period of 9 to 10 months, by the time the face-lift will also launch... They are not even sure if they can deliver the car, as they believe just like verna, creta diesel is about to be discontinued in the face lift.
I think your figures about mileage might be wrong as i had the diesel creta and it gives about 13-14 in city, and as for the turbo variant many videos showed it's giving about 14-15 in city, around 17-18 on high way.

I actually own BMW X1 but my personal opinion is creta as it is more reliable than verna...
Verna is better than Creta no doubt even best in worst road if you have good driving skills
