Видимо, стало тяжело содержать этот дом, вот и начали распродавать вещи. Жаль!Но Фредди все это оставил Мэри , по доброй воле и она вольна распоряжаться имуществом, как захочет.
Thank you for posting this beautiful video that Sotheby's did when they were chosen to handle the sell Freddie's things. I only wished they hadn't put a filter on the lens to make it old-looking. Garden Lodge is as beautiful today as I'm sure it was during FM's life so why not celebrate all the colors of the magnificent items he hand-picked to decorate his home? He had exquisite expensive tastes, that's for sure! I know from pictures I've seen of an article that Mary did not long after he died, she was standing by the piano and it was full of pictures. Not sure if they were pictures she had placed there specifically for the pictures in the article or if they were put there by Freddie, but I noticed they were no longer there in any of the Sotheby's photographs.
An absolute pleasure to watch this video. It brings the house to life in a way that pictures cannot. When I saw Freddie’s baseball shoes, my heart skipped a beat and I felt a profound sense of loss although I obviously didn’t know Freddie on a personal level. I fully understand why Mary sold his “clutter”(his words)and is now selling his(or should I say HER ) house. She faithfully kept it for over thirty years, and it is now time to move on. Good luck to her and best wishes.
Es un buen video, pero me produce tristeza...que todos sus recuerdos estén desperdigados...😢 pero Freddy, NUNCA!!! Lo llevo en mi corazón. Como MILLONES de fans en el planeta. Querida REINA x SIEMPRE!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

This is precious! As crowded with 'stuff' as any Edwardian parlour, and very much reflective of 1980s opulence too. I can't help but think that were he still with us, Freddie would quite likely have embraced minimalism by now and thrown the whole lot out! As it is, a snapshot of a decade or so in Freddie's life, or at least, of the environment in which much of it was lived..
Opulence and excess of the 80s? I thought 8os were about post-modern lofts of brick and chrome. This house is classic and timeless, in my humble opinion. Freddie was minimalist in dresses, that’s true. No accessories like wristwatch, jewellery, ties, scarfs, etc. It very well may be that he would have sold out much of his stuff by now anyway.
I wish they had filmed his bedroom and bathroom too. I am also trying to figure out where the staircase that goes up to his bedroom is located. It looks like when you walk into that main door that to the immediate left is the door to the Japanese room, no staircase to go upstairs. I see the dark staircase that leads to the minstrel gallery.
When you enter, the staircase is straight ahead. It takes you to the second floor and then a short flight of stairs to the bedroom which is over the main large room.
I hope the house doesn't go to some billionaire or oligarch, but somebody who will cherish it and cherished Freddie. Maybe Elton John could buy it and open it up as a museum and raise money for AIDS charities.
It immediately made me calm about his death as he was given to admire the charm of that place and find here his place. Also i began to understand why he has chosen to die in that place instead of abywhere else
That was my thought. It would be nice if there was some kind of essence of the person left behind on their belongings. But, that’s not how it is. When they’re gone, they’re gone. They just leave behind empty stuff. I have perfume that my best friend who died used to wear. Still to this day when I smell it, it’s like she’s right there. But more so, It just leaves this feeling of longing that they were here. I really hope there’s an afterlife. Because this is some bs.
