We almost never got this on TV back in the 1970s, the distribution companies couldn't cut deals for ballet unless it was classical ballet. Unless you were in a big city, these were shown from 16mm film reels in libraries that had the budget to rent them. Back then, you had to be a professional dancer to even recognize these as ballet. Now, it's 2023 and everyone here is blown away by the skill and power of those artists. From the set design, to the composer and orchestra to the makeup, costumers and the dancers. They just fucking nailed this to the wall. The dancers managed to perform a really tight and clean performance, clearly in tune with what the choreo wanted here. And yet each dancer owned the whole ballet, they made it their own in a way we just don't see in this era street styles. This is a street style ballet, because that sweet disco was the street style back then.
Saw a clip in a reel on Instagram and now I can’t stop listening to it. This song playing at 4 AM while you and your buddies talk in circles in the kitchen is such a vibe lol.
