The fact that Exceed got another chance after MW19 is quite surprising in itself. Then has a not great performance last year. I just feel like there’s other better options. This is why I would prefer expansion and open brackets. These guys talk like “if I got in the league I’d run shit” and I wish there was a better way to prove that.
Especially given one of the excuses was “I played on a bad team, that’s not a fair shot” which I guess I can see? However that’s still a chance that you could’ve shown you were actually good at the game because reality of the situation is, no good team is gonna pick him up and he should’ve been grateful he even got that extra chance and he still wasn’t looking promising.

I’d like to see the CDL experiment with hosting the challengers event before the main lan and all 12 CDL teams start in winners and the top 6 challenger teams start in losers

Gunless ain’t wrong. Arcity has done nothing for 3 years yet was still in the league with a superstar contract.
Mid players like felony and assault have spots and gunless hasn’t even been given a shot.
I think it was his attitude and work ethic that made players not to play with him

Right now the league is so top heavy adding 4 more teams prolly wont make things more interesting if they r only in it to get slammed by the top 4
yeah i honestly dont get the hype around padding out another 4 teams to play pointless series noone is going to be interested in watching.
until the league can get 12 teams to be somewhat competitive i dont see why it should even look at expanding, as we can see its clear the talent pool is either not there or the top 4 teams are the only ones with the ability to put proper systems in place to get the most out of its players.
It would make it much more scrappy with the lower teams, also more options for different combos. Paper may beat rock but not paper.
Although challengers lans are good too, I think young rooks need a place to showcase their talent including bottom teams. 2 of Gwinn Lynz Estreal + Attach & Ghosty would be T3-5 team, Huke iLLeY Abuzah and a decent 4th could've been a T5 team as well. We might see gross young guns next season too, so expansion is never bad. It also introduces/brings back cities like places in Canada, Phoenix, Columbus, Chicago and (I know it won't happen but) London, etc.

No but let’s take the Exceed example he’s had multiple chances and squandered them. Therefor Gunless gets the same treatment. Yes he won in the past but he was awful in the CDL era. Just cause he won a challengers event doesn’t mean he would be any better than anyone in the league. Not to mention with his temperament he’s got a bad rep amongst the pros
Gunless was pretty good in mw19. That huntsman team was gross at the beginning and if they didn't butt heads they could have found another level above what they were. He was pretty good in VG too he just got cut at wrong time and unfortunately the guy below him had the event of the volk where he was the one who was ahead of the curve and wasn't able to recoup what was before injury.
Yeah, maybe I’m heartless but it’s hard to feel bad for gunless after seeing him butt heads so frequently with so many players. And literally bench himself a couple (?) times.
Gunless was very good during Cold War. Before his injury he was LAG’s best player with ZERO complaints of his behavior during and after his tenure from his teammates. The only reason he didn’t get his chance back was cause Spart used an OP gun and won an entire tourney with it, but was never the same player when it got GA’d.
His time during MW19, his reason for toxicity and benching himself is COMPLETELY WARRANTED. He was complaining that his teammates (Formal & scump) wasn’t putting in the max effort that Gunless was putting in and saying how the org is turning a blind eye to it cause formal and scump are undroppable. And we soon find out during Optic documentary that formal’s interest of cod over the year has waned and he couldn’t put in the effort he used to. Could Gunless have voiced his opinions in a more constructive manner, maybe, but who’s to say he didn’t voice them to his teammates at all? He probably did voice it and it wasn’t reciprocated. If I were in Cod I’d want my teammates to be as driven, motivated, and obsessed with cod as he was.
His history of toxicity during his peak years is very unforgivable, however, his latest years wasn’t plagued by ignorant toxicity.

what about if they add the 4 teams but they also add a hard salary cap (kinda like the nfl) which will force top teams to split due to not being able to pay everyone top dollar!
top players will either sacrifice a lot of secure contract money and try to win a lot of tourneys or go somewhere else and secure the bag while trying to stay competitive
I think the more teams we add, the more competitive the bottom gets, and it’s just going to make more games interesting to watch. I’m not a fan of the franchising, but if they can make it huge, and make it work, it could be sick. Like NFL size, use divisions as pool play, idfk. There’s an opportunity for someone smarter than me to make something awesome.
I think there can be 16 great teams. The biggest problem is they don’t play enough. Match counts need to be at least 1.5X or so, especially on LAN.

The issue is that each team only has 4 players and the difference between the top 10 players and 40-75 players is massive. If a team can and chooses to afford 3 out of 4 members to be top 10 players, they’ll piss slam the bottom 75% of the league 90% of the time. 4 players isn’t enough to have a competitive league
We need more teams!!
Expansion would be great for giving more challengers players opportunities but it would just make 5-12 even more of a logjam than it already is lol. Just more teams for top 4 to feast on
honestly the only way to make it less top heavy is to bring in some kind of salary cap

Potential solution:
All the challengers teams pool together money for two slots, winner of a challengers event and the winner between 2nd and 3rd place play a best of 7 series against the bottom 2 cdl teams. Essentially the bottom two in the cdl is a timeshare until teams can consistently prove it. Overtime if teams from challengers are coming up and producing then the league could address and implement expansion once their is data supporting the challengers teams are not dogshit.
Obviously theres more to it and its easier said than done but I think this atleast gets the foot in the door
The answer is pretty simple for people like Gunless and Exceed...
Get rid of this dogshit Franchise Model, go back to Opens-style sponsored events on LAN with players earning their living from prize money and personal sponsorships.
You would have to be visually and intellectually impaired to not look at the CDL and think that a lot of these guys are happy earning a paycheque from their contract and if they had to do the grind of opens, creating content, and generating interest in them and their team to get sponsorship money, they'd likely be working at Walmart instead of being the 22nd best SMG in the CDL on minimum salary.
The CDL enriches the top 20% of CDL pros, puts the bottom 80% on something akin to a barely liveable wage, and prevents the amateurs/challengers players from being able to compete for a living at the eSport.
The economics of franchising is broken. It's why about 4 CDL teams can host events and there are just 4 or 5 competitive teams.
Like Zero said on Dope check. Exceed has had two chances in the league. Plenty of deserving players haven’t had a go yet. He hasn’t been hard done by.
Sometimes you hit your limit. Sometimes your limit is at the top of the am bracket. I also think some of these former pros now ams have a behavior or atitude problem and they cant accept that people dont want to deal with their shit anymore

Companies aren’t going to want to invest into new teams in the league and get a pick of the challengers players
With 16 teams the middle to bottom pack of teams will be much more interesting/enjoyable to watch, and the league will get a little more competitive I think. Unfortunately Microsoft/Acti will probably not add 4 more teams cause they are fucking idiots.
Could be wrong but from my memory kis was on Paris and they weren't good but he made a finals in a home series, grinded thru challengers teamed w havok in vg and ran 5 straight Ws to where havok offered a spot he turned down cause he wanted to bring the kis. Kis then joined in his place. Brought the passion to a chalked roster and develop a relationship with the players and coaching staff, the rest is history. Exceed said he's gon keep his head down and grind.. 3 days later was crying on stream about deserving a spot. I understand it's gonna be so frustrating but can't help but think that's not helping his chances. Gunless does 100p deserve another shot imo but him going crazy on Twitter doesn't change his reputation that he was a hot head, doesn't show the most growth. Feel bad for Pierce

Gunless might better than clay, felo, Lamar, Alec, assault, priestah, wake, maybe even slasher (right now) I think he’s just talking about the old head AR players. Those are the only ones I can think of that he COULD be better than. They’ve been recycled with young talent to no avail. Big P deserves one shot to team with young talent and try to lead them, he literally hasn’t had that yet.

The difference between kismet and exceed getting their second chances is that kismet shouldve never even been out of the league. He was like 1 of 2 bright spots on that original paris legion roster😂 he was genuinely good and when he got back into the league, he showed why he shouldve been there the whole time, you put exceed on that same NYSL team and hes still getting fried

A lot of these players put on a great team may show different potential. If you are placed in a terrible team even if you are a great player affects your moral, check at Huke on seattle vs optic, was he the best optic player? Nop but still performed way better.

Right now we can’t pick up/scout from challengers when pros say “they’re playing a different game” and scrappy is saying all of challengers is ass (he’s wrong btw)

I can see how playing on a game (MW2) that has no red dots and Arcitys on your team would be pretty hard to get positive looking stats all year. I still want Gunless back in the CDL
16 teams in the league should have been non-negotiable. When there wasn't 16 organizations interested in League spots that should have told everyone involved that the $25 million price point was not valuable. Activision should have reduced the price to build a 16 team league. Those spots aren't valuable enough for 25 million because there aren't enough organizations that can buy it in. Thus, the league is not worth as much as they think it is. Activision gutted the call of duty community.
