She's so cute 😍 Just a heads up, litter mate syndrome is very real. They do not have to be related, the same breed, the same sex, or the same age, for it to affect them. It happens when you have more than one pup that grow up together. Please do some research about it, because it can be really devastating and damaging. Good news tho, it's 100% preventable when you're aware of it, and do the nessesary work 😊

Common effects are that one of the dogs become basicly a nervewreck, can't be alone or without the other dog, they become anti social, difficult to train, etc, while the other dog becomes a normal, stable dog. People often think it's genetics since they raised them the same, while the issue is in reality, litter mate syndrom. Badly explained, one of the dogs, or both of the dogs, get "addicted" to the other.

I think its wonderful that you got two of them, they need each other. You may find that the older puppy will teach the younger what to do when it comes to potty training, playing, etc. I hope Penny calms down for you as time goes on, right now she has all that puppy energy to work out. We found a product in the USA called Adaptil that helped our two mixed breed dogs, it is the same hormone the mother dog produces to calm her litter and makes them feel safe and calmer. It made all the difference in our two dogs, the destructiveness stopped within hours of setting the diffuser up for them.

I'm thinking I need to rewatch this so I can count how many times Jesse kisses the pups! He obviously has a very tender heart for them. I've also noticed Matt kissing his horses, which is hilarious. People always used to make fun of me for kissing my horse, but how could I not? I just loved them so much!
Two puppies are a lot of work in the beginning, but its worth it later on in my experience. As you said, dogs should have company just like people. Its healthier for them mentally and socially. Good decision!

Why a frenchie tho? I mean yes, they are super cute and sweet and everything but the french bulldog has so many health issues. They very often cannot give birth to their puppies but need a c-section as the puppies are too big for the mother's birth canal. Would you consider a breed healthy if they can't reproduce in a natural way? Moreover, they are a brachycephalic breed, meaning they have short noses combined with a long soft palate. The shortness of the nose reduces the surface size of the mucose membrane the incoming air streams along, which is needed for warming, moisturizing and cleaning the air. Therefore, they are more susceptible to respiratory diseases like pneumonia. The longness of the soft palate often hinders the air from entering the trachea as it can get stuck under the epiglottis. That's where the typical "cute" snoring sound comes from that frenchies have a lot. It's actually a difficulty getting air into their lungs, just like breathing through a pillow or with someone suffocating you. Penny seems to have a slightly longer nose than Maizy, which is probably why she is more active than Penny. Puppies are supposed to be hyperactive and you normally have to teach them to relax and calm down. The "calmness" that is associated with brachycephalic breeds like the frech bulldog or the pug often stems from their inability to get enough air! I don't want to say nobody should buy a frenchie, but I think people should know what they are buying before they come to this decision. There are some initiatives to breed for longer noses which should be supported, but many frenchies suffer all their lives. Maizy and Penny certainly are great dogs and you will have a lot of fun one day. I'm sure you will also have the financial means if one of them grows to need surgery for their nose or palate, but please keep in mind that not everybody has! You are a role model for many of your fans and some of them will now want to get a frenchie, too. Please help raise awareness that getting a french bulldog can!!! mean getting a dog that will need veterinary care all its live. Please only get such a dog if you are certain you will be able to provide for it, even if it turns out not to be as healthy as you thought. That beeing said, I wish you all the best with your great puppies! And I highly appreciate your work with your horses!
laura ok, I understand you felt the need to type out this longggggggggggg comment about Frenchies. However, this was all said a million times over when they first announced getting Maisie. They already have the dogs, let them be happy. Everyone already knows about Frenchies and their health concerns... go look at their other video (when they announced Maisie).
Of you look closely, they have a good nose for the breed. Somewhere around 1/3 Of the skull, wide nostrils, they have quite long legs, and a decent length of back and neck. I get your point, people should think before they buy. Backyard/commercial breeders dont often health test and give a damn about health. If you choose a responsible pedigree breeder, you can have an amazing and healthy frenchie...
I appreciate you do your research. But for the breed, these pups are very healthy and responsibly bred. Ive seen horror stories in frenchies, these dogs will be fine for the most part. Responsible breed dogs are just as worthy as shelter dogs. Its backyard breeders and puppy mills that give purebreds a bad rep.
Some frenchies do have health problems but this doesn't mean you should let the breed die out completely! They are amazing dogs!! Not only looks but they really have an unique personality aswell. :) Just find good, responsable breeders and only buy there! They test on health before breeding and continue healthy lines ;) German shephards have as many health issues as frenchies when comming from irresponsible breeders!!!! Our frenchie lived to be 15 years and until his last day he was still running up the stairs.. when younger he could easely go on long walks in the heat of summer. His daughter goes on 10km walks and keeps up with my big wolfdog! XD Don't always fall for the common critique. Its more nuanced than that!

Good luck boys you have double the trouble now....Mazy is so sweet and placid but little Penny is going to be a live wire she just doesn't want to be still and is so inquisitive. She is going to keep you and her sister on her toes...I think she may well be the instigator of mayhem. I adore this dog breed. I worried about breathing issues until I saw one on a trail run, flying down the trail at top speed after its master who was on a bike. Totally fine and loving it. I have 2 dogs now, but in the future, for sure.

I'm thinking I need to rewatch this so I can count how many times Jesse kisses the pups! He obviously has a very tender heart for them. I've also noticed Matt kissing his horses, which is hilarious. People always used to make fun of me for kissing my horse, but how could I not? I just loved them so much!

Two puppies are a lot of work in the beginning, but its worth it later on in my experience. As you said, dogs should have company just like people. Its healthier for them mentally and socially. Good decision!

BTW I hope that you are getting them both fully vaccinated esp the new pup and that you advocate getting puppies from reputable breeders and checking that you see the pups with their mother. There are far too many horrendously cruel puppy farms around at the moment.

Why a frenchie tho?
I mean yes, they are super cute and sweet and everything but the french bulldog has so many health issues. They very often cannot give birth to their puppies but need a c-section as the puppies are too big for the mother's birth canal. Would you consider a breed healthy if they can't reproduce in a natural way? Moreover, they are a brachycephalic breed, meaning they have short noses combined with a long soft palate. The shortness of the nose reduces the surface size of the mucose membrane the incoming air streams along, which is needed for warming, moisturizing and cleaning the air. Therefore, they are more susceptible to respiratory diseases like pneumonia. The longness of the soft palate often hinders the air from entering the trachea as it can get stuck under the epiglottis. That's where the typical "cute" snoring sound comes from that frenchies have a lot. It's actually a difficulty getting air into their lungs, just like breathing through a pillow or with someone suffocating you.
Penny seems to have a slightly longer nose than Maizy, which is probably why she is more active than Penny. Puppies are supposed to be hyperactive and you normally have to teach them to relax and calm down. The "calmness" that is associated with brachycephalic breeds like the frech bulldog or the pug often stems from their inability to get enough air!
I don't want to say nobody should buy a frenchie, but I think people should know what they are buying before they come to this decision. There are some initiatives to breed for longer noses which should be supported, but many frenchies suffer all their lives.
Maizy and Penny certainly are great dogs and you will have a lot of fun one day. I'm sure you will also have the financial means if one of them grows to need surgery for their nose or palate, but please keep in mind that not everybody has! You are a role model for many of your fans and some of them will now want to get a frenchie, too. Please help raise awareness that getting a french bulldog can!!! mean getting a dog that will need veterinary care all its live. Please only get such a dog if you are certain you will be able to provide for it, even if it turns out not to be as healthy as you thought.

laura ok, I understand you felt the need to type out this longggggggggggg comment about Frenchies. However, this was all said a million times over when they first announced getting Maisie. They already have the dogs, let them be happy. Everyone already knows about Frenchies and their health concerns... go look at their other video (when they announced Maisie).
Of you look closely, they have a good nose for the breed. Somewhere around 1/3 Of the skull, wide nostrils, they have quite long legs, and a decent length of back and neck. I get your point, people should think before they buy. Backyard/commercial breeders dont often health test and give a damn about health. If you choose a responsible pedigree breeder, you can have an amazing and healthy frenchie...
I appreciate you do your research. But for the breed, these pups are very healthy and responsibly bred. Ive seen horror stories in frenchies, these dogs will be fine for the most part. Responsible breed dogs are just as worthy as shelter dogs. Its backyard breeders and puppy mills that give purebreds a bad rep.
Some frenchies do have health problems but this doesn't mean you should let the breed die out completely! They are amazing dogs!! Not only looks but they really have an unique personality aswell. :)
Just find good, responsable breeders and only buy there! They test on health before breeding and continue healthy lines ;)
German shephards have as many health issues as frenchies when comming from irresponsible breeders!!!!
Our frenchie lived to be 15 years and until his last day he was still running up the stairs.. when younger he could easely go on long walks in the heat of summer. His daughter goes on 10km walks and keeps up with my big wolfdog! XD

I knew it wouldn't be long and I wasn't at all surprised. Good luck boys you have double the trouble now....Mazy is so sweet and placid but little Penny is going to be a live wire she just doesn't want to be still and is so inquisitive. She is going to keep you and her sister on her toes...I think she may well be the instigator of mayhem. I had several dogs at a time , at least four most of my life and they all have very different personalities and characters and I wouldn't have changed any of them. Here's to happy memories and chewed furniture and shoes.

You 2 are the most enjoyable trip, you brighten my day and make me laugh. First congratulations on your new puppy Penny, Matt take a chill pill kiddo it's just a name lol. Either way it's beautiful and so is she. Mazey has really filled out nicely. You're right on making sure you watch them while playing and limiting their time. It only takes a second for something to happen. When training it is best to do it one on one as they will get distracted if the other is around. So glad to see you 2 are feeling so much better, Jesse you still have a little of the cough make sure you allow yourself time to rest as well. I adore this dog breed. I worried about breathing issues until I saw one on a trail run, flying down the trail at top speed after its master who was on a bike. Totally fine and loving it. I have 2 dogs now, but in the future, for sure.
