I test rode one and Thought it was as comfortable a bike as I have ridden. The way I think of buying a new brand like this though is to give it a couple of years, it will be 2 grand cheaper, problems will become apparent if any and you'll still have 2 years warranty left. Lots of people only keep a bike a couple of years even if they are brilliant, we all think the next bike is our forever one. Used with 2or 3000 miles I think is always the best value for money.

Great review Steve. I think if you get one and accept what you're getting, the it's probably a bargain. The spec levels on them is amazing. That fuelling is a common problem with them apparently. I'm interested to see the Voge DSX900 when it arrives over here.

I bought a new Kawasaki few years ago and it was delivered to me, the left mirror came loose after 3 miles of riding, at that point I checked all the nuts and bolts I could to be sure. Cfmoto have hit the market with amazing specs for less than the competition and only time will tell on reliability. The only thing that would stop me buying one of these is that the Suzuki vstrom 800re can be picked up for around £1200 more.

Another nice honest opinion there Mike.
It's a twin, so now we have a Chinese bike with twice the number of parts you won't be able to get for eight months when something breaks. Sounds like progress to me ! 😂
I suspect that you might be right about the manufacturing tolerances not being up to other brands' spec. The Chinese are still finding their feet with these things. I'm sure that they will improve the quality of their motorcycles significantly in the next few years.
Many of us wouldn't consider this bike, for the reasons that you mentioned.
With an entry level MT 800 costing eight grand, depreciation becomes a REAL concern. I think that somebody could easily buy one of these, ride it for a year, not really get on with it and then have to drop the price to five grand or lower to get rid of the thing. Losing three grand in one year is a BIG hit.
I still can't change my opinion that Chinese bikes are currently really only worth considering at the learner end of the scale. If you need to buy a 125 for a year or two until you pass your test and can get something bigger, then by all means buy the Chinese 125 that takes your fancy. Because of the low initial price, when you sell it on in a couple of years, you won't stand to lose much money. But the more expensive these Chinese bikes get, the more concerning the depreciation becomes !
I'm sure that this is another capable bike and one which many people would be happy with.
But you have to ask yourself, is buying one of these a WISE decision ? Probably not. Like you, I think it is a risky decision. Eight grand takes some earning and I'd rather earn another two grand and go out and buy a Honda, knowing that a large chunk of that ten grand is still going to be in the bike when it is a couple of years old.
Cheers Mike, thanks for taking the time and as ever, for being totally honest with everybody !

Hi Steve, Thanks for coming to my channel, I hope you will subscribe if you like what you see.
Depreciation is always a issue with these bikes isnt it as it is with many other brands. infact even with RE in recent years tbh
You are right for the learner end with limited budget they make a lot of sense, In your country with mainly dust roads and desert like terrain it would be a good test. Someone made a relevant point the other day where they said for another £1200 you can get a Suzuki RE. I know what i would do.

It's comparatively cheap for a new bike, but for 8k you can get one hell of a bike just a few years old from other makes. The other bonus with buying a quality used bike is that the teething troubles have usually been sorted and very often has quite a few add on accessories that we all spend a fortune on.

Interesting review mate, after my Sym 125 which is not a Chinese bike but made in Taiwan had issues but after i got those sorted i really liked the bike. Its really sad they dont sell them here anymore but i think that's one of the points you made. We dont know whats its going to be like until a decade down the line. With so many fly by night brands from China area ive got no confidence or would buy a bike like that, but have heared they are moving production to other countries to get sway from their bad inage. One point that i think deserves a mention is the resale. After getting my 3500 ish 125 after 6 months i was offered 800 quid. I don't imagine much resale value and people potentially taking a loss. I would never touch a Chinese bike, prefer proven reliability and when a dealer says 'its a cheap shit bike what did you expect' and fobs you off im put off for life. Free Tibet 🙏

Valid points raised in the video, it being made in China wouldn't necessarily put me off buying one, but I wouldn't buy new. Funny how we are unsure about some Chinese products whilst surrounded by them in every day life, probably in part due to the endless amount of Chinese shite on amazon, TEMU etc and we've all seen the dodgy adverts with the AI voice telling the story of Jack the college kid or the ex employee of "X" big tech firm that reverse engineered something which is causing a stir and you can buy one for £19.99 or that DJI Mavic they show in all the shots for £99 and when the poor mug buys one it's a £5 knock-off.

I suppose you’d be slated by others if you gave a glowing report on a machine that was notoriously problematic even if it didn’t present any problems when you tested it.
A truthful review is what the punter is looking for. It does not compel him to buy or reject the product and only offers an opinion.

And various other manufacturers make bixe in other countries. Here's the thing tho. There was a time when a camera, tv or whatever you care to mention wasn't only made in China. There was a choice but in the end most of what we buy is made in China. That is a fantastic and very well balanced review. Credit where due Exeter Rider. Beautiful bike and a brilliant package. Also the flaws are there so people know exactly what they are signing up for. I also love the length of your videos. They cover just about the right stuff and keep the interest irked on. Must be hard yakka making these so kudos to you.

You have issues with this bike because you have heard from other people ...? It seems that you follow other peoples comments and really can not discern for yourself. I have owned many other brands and depreciation is terrible on them all. Look at your initial investment, what they offer, 5 year warranty (Canada) and do your math again, they absolutely make sense. If you are buying motorcycles as an investment, you need a better financial advisor, these are for pure fun/enjoyment. YOU have an issue with it being Chinese, you go back and forth, you liked the bike but keep circling back to it being Chinese, a poor investment, and MAY have reliability issues, lol! People in the comment section, get out and ride one, look at it and talk to owners before you blindly follow this review.

Nope not true....this engine shares the same engine as the KTM 790 which has notorious camshaft snapping issues which at one point KTM wouldn't offer the warranty work for.....having friends who have had that very KTM and CF motos before now ( 5 people) they all had issues and no way will go back to cf moto or KTM. They ALL had issues and got rid.
CF moto here are very new importers and its not good so far...the CF450 has sold out when this video was made ...but there were only 15 in the country and none now until April 2025 so if you think I can recommend a bike that you can't get parts for (even if you could get a bike) then no chance.......as you can see I liked the bike as far as it goes but there is more to it than that! And I'm not recommending a bike that has no backbone of dealership here and previous underlying issues.
No point having a 5 year warranty if they cant get the parts for at least 3 months or till 2025.

@@exeterrider Again you have failed to advise me or your followers correctly, all of the affected 790 engines were manufactured in Austria by KTM. CF Moto was not and is not included with that camshaft issue. As for parts availability in your country I can not comment, but there is a positive change coming for consumers. All other brands better pay attention or they will find themselves with dealerships full of overpriced bikes that the masses can not afford or justify when compared.
I can purchased a used 2022 - 2023 BMW GS 1250 Adventure, fully optioned, with 6 - 10k KM in Canada for $25k, when it's new price was $40k OTD .... is this a good investment? And yes, all other brands suffer the same fate.
Waiting 3 months for parts has happened to every motorcycle brand and is only fair when you mention that fact. If it's a common part, (i.e. clutch lever, oil change kit, handle bars, etc.) they are readily available, but if your transmission piles up yes, I would expect some wait time no matter the brand. I have a new GMC truck that has been waiting for 10 weeks now for transmission parts, still no resolve and a dealer update claiming another 2 weeks out!
If 15 bikes, in an entire country is the market, this won't be of any concern - even if all 15 had massive failures, but I suspect a great deal more than the 15 lucky people are looking at this purchase and are hopefully waiting with deposits for 2025's to roll through the doors. And that BS about the bike being loose, really, were you riding on a gravel surface, lol! Check your tires or tighten the steering stem bolt but it's not a bike design flaw as you lead people to believe.
All I suggest is that you try to be fair, cost effective options for this sport should be welcomed as they help open the door for enthusiasts. Chinese manufactures are shining a bright light on dated, overpriced offerings from their competition and those owners may be getting concerned/worried about their investment and/or choice (with respect).

The KTM 790 engine is made by cf moto in China to my knowledge...
When I said about it being loose I was talking about the engine not the bike sliding around..... Tolerances seem looser than a Honda for example.
There is no excuse for waiting for parts, again if one of the 15 fail and they can't get parts for 6months which is when the next big shipment is to the UK. It's not good enough.

@@exeterrider You are going to dig your heels in on this and that's fine, we are all entitled to our opinions through experiences. I have not heard of owners waiting 6 months for parts (sounds a bit dramatic to me) but there may be increased wait times for very specific parts, this could be a reality for your region (15 bike market may not be a top priority or dealer's risking $$ in inventory that may not required - makes good business sense). But motor parts are KTM and hopefully available to you if required. But I for one can not justify the additional costs associated with any brand name manufacturer charging their overinflated prices knowing the Chinese are manufacturing many of their parts and claiming it as their own (KTM, BMW and Triumph specifically). Just wait for the Voge DS 900 X to start making it's mark too, they will take another small piece of the new market segment ...
I guess my many trips to "Tim Hortons" (coffee shops in Canada) will eventually add up to some reliable mileage and eventually I might trust it enough to attempt crossing the continent of Africa, lol!
Thanks for your response, I enjoyed the discussion and your perspective.

In America, we tariff commies. I seem to remember the English also disapprove of fascist regimes. One should make efforts to be consistent in life. Either you approve of the Commies and therefore trade with them, or you dont and therefore shouldnt do business with them. Your integrity is in question. Example, unsubscribing, because now by helping you im helping them and thats not ok.

What an odd opinion. You don't like commies and advocate not trading with them, but America does trade with the Chinese and makes a bit of extra cash at it by applyiong tariffs.
The Chinese have their fingers into everything and unfortunately there's nothing anybody, including the USA, can do about it.
Exeter Rider, as a reviewer, was giving his opinion on the bike. He does not influence UK government trade policy nor is he a sales representative for Chinese companies.
