I'm not nearly as good a musician as either Kevon or Jayden, but I can relate to Kevon's reaction to Jayden. Back in the 90's I was honored when I was asked to play at a friend's wedding. I practiced the songs he requested and I received a lot of compliments on my playing at the ceremony -- I started thinking I was pretty good. Then I went to the hall where the reception was being held and I saw a kid about Jayden's age at the time there. He had just set up to play some background music. He sat down at his Suitcase Rhodes, pulled out his fake book, and tore into the Crusaders' "Street Life". He played tunes that put my repertoire to shame and showed me what a hack I really was. I went back home feeling like a kid who had just mastered "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star". So I definitely know how Kevon feels.
That is, hands down, the coldest organ solo I’ve ever heard. And, I grew up around musicians. Just his use of color, phrasing, and placement. WOW!! Thanks for sharing, Brother Kevon. I appreciate your gift and unselfish spirit. You share your amazing talent as musician/composer/arranger with sincerity and comedic timing. Peace Love Music
i'm more impressed with his MANIPULATION of the organ (moreso than actually playing)... there's a lot going on: - volume control with the foot - tone/timbre selection (he clearly has a couple of favorite settings memorized; and this is the most daunting part of organ playing and the part i dislike the most, lol) - chorale/ensemble/rotary control (nice timing for mood and effect) - improv playing and overall coordination (because all of this on the fly isn't easy when done manually) overall, excellent organ player... would love to see him play Blues or Jazz~ :)
When he walks into the room, he creates a problem that only he can solve by sitting at the organ. If he ever decides not to sit at the organ, God help us ...
Don’t you feel down, Kevon. I’m just over here, in my little corner, practicing my little scales. I have never heard of young Arnold, talented though he seems to be. You, though, are the one who inspired me to pick up piano again. So, harrumph I say to to feeling down! Harrumph!
Jayden is a child prodigy, he started playing at 4! Even when he was younger, his approach to playing was always cool and calm. I love watching the evolution of young musicians, like Corey Henry (keys) and Tony Royster Jr. (Drums), you just knew they would develop into super beasts!!!
Wow! This Kevon Carter is simply the best musician/humor channel I have ever seen! He can FEEL the Music in a way that conveys the same feeling to me as I'm watching the video! The two times in the video where Kelvon felt goosebumps I felt it here too, just by seeing Kelvon getting up from his chair, at 0:49 and 1:10! Kelvon manages to convey the emotion and feeling of each chord! Here, from Brazil, I send a big hug and thanks to Kelvon for the excellent work he does on TH-cam, transmitting healthy humor and also musical techniques!
