I agree never been a coke fan myself. Mountian dew or Pepsi has been options with occasional 7up. But I don't drink alot of soda.
Well American coke is a bit different than other areas of the world. I had a coke from Greece and it tasted way better than American coke.
I did the Pepsi vs. Coke thing last night because of him. Not only did I prefer the taste, but I could easily identify which was Coke.
McDonald's Coke is on point though.

Some things that's true. Some it's not. Things like cheese, cereals, pasta, bread, milk. Those are usually made by the same companies as the brand name

You can have a product that is completely original but not the name brand. If your thinking of it as the very first product ever created then that is very hard to find the original product and Tyler would be spending a lot for his products for them to be the original product. well i dont think that's really the case but if you notice ,the video cuts and continues right before he picks up the cans,like in each part its cuts at that moment,well maybe am overthinking ,maybe not,who knows ,for ex 1:11 , 2:36 seems pretty sus to me,however these off brand sodas taste 99% same as the og one's for sure cuz I have tasted them.

I wish he sniffed as well rather than just hearing the cans pop since, that doesn't really give a good indicator, off brands to me have a more fake smell or a weak smell compared to the name brand
Something I heard years ago is that the main brands also produce the generic brands, with minor changes to flavor and color.

If you drink lots of something it tastes bland after a long time. So the real stuff might just taste normal to you. And the off brand is a new flavor

I agree, i think it’s called “going taste blind” it happens a lot to me when I have a bigger bottle of vape juice (100 ml bottle) the flavor just about goes away half way through the bottle but the next bottle/flavor I can distinctly taste.

Hey Tyler I think the next time you do an experiment like this that it might be pretty important to have a pallet cleansing ordeal going on, very hard to differentiate like-flavors when you sip back and fourth between them

I did the Pepsi VS coke, and I couldn't tell a bit of difference! According to my female roommate, it's because men have less taste buds than women. But she wouldn't do it, so I don't know how accurate that is

Some off brand companies are stricter in their manufacturing. My aunt worked at a Dole canning place where they also did Walmart brand cans and she said that Walmart had more requirements than Dole did on their products.

Mountain Lightning: Flat
Dr Thunder: Scuffed Cherry Pepsi

I heard that, since Coke was formulated before refrigeration was invented and Pepsi after, warm Coke tastes the same as cold Pepsi. Maybe you could test that by having a cold and room temp one of both and then sort which is which. It would really interest me, if that is actually the case.

Warm coke does taste a bit sweeter imo which is what I get off of Pepsi. There might be some truth to that.
Doesn't matter now since it's technically not made the same. Today's soda's are made with artificial flavorings, chemicals if you will.
My step dad only bought the off brand sodas growing up and it just brings bad memories now that Im grown up, I don't mind paying the small mark up for the real thing the taste is just a lot different.

Coke always loses tastes tests because it's not as sweet. But coke tastes better with more food, which is why it's preferred. More sugar isn't always better.

That's what the Pepsi challenge did way back. They gave you 2 small cups with pop in, wouldn't tell you which was which and ask you which one you liked better. Pepsi won a lot more than coke did, even by avid coke drinkers.

plot twist: most of these knock off brands are in fact made by the name brands. My uncle who lives in Jacksonville works in a name brand manufacturing plant and he says that the company also makes a store brand of the same products. I'll give ya a hint, this place is often mentioned on youtube a lot .

Most off brand products are actually the exact same product made in the exact same factory with different labeling. A lot of the companies that make the off brands have deals with the companies that make the originals. I think it's a way of avoiding one powerful trust company.

I think getting Coca Cola wrong isn’t surprising because there are so many off-brands that they start fighting each other and trying their best to be as good as possible and that’s what I think makes them so close

My theory on why you got Mountain Dew wrong is because if you drank it when you were younger the formula was different. They changed it to not include Brominated Vegetable Oil anymore as it became a controversial ingredient. Mountain Lightning still uses BVO in their formulation.
That explains a lot. I used to love Mountain Dew it was my go to and now I can’t stand it. I always get cheap brand.
