This is of course the sumptuous "Merry WIdow Waltz." Beverly here is unsurpassed; we will lover her always.
It just doesn't get any better than this!
bravo Beverly A clip to remember forever and ever
How utterly romantic!
That happens to most of us in middle age, including Bev. And she remained a very attractive woman throughout her life.
Magnifique!
It's 30 years later. But I'll bet he's still gorgeous.
The New York City Opera was always daring. No other opera house at that time would present operetta, considered an inferior form, when the main difference was only spoken recitative. Operetta was written for trained voices.
P.S.--the Met did Fledermaus shortly after. LOL!
Alan is here singing The Flying Dutchman now! What a jump!
Right! The Met would have the big name singers stand around like statues. Singing beautifully of course, But the NYCO would direct the singers as if they were actors in a play, as if their acting was as essential to the impact of the production as their singing, which of course it was.
That would be Alan Titus. He was sooo hot in his younger days :-)
Is this the performance she made on PBS in San Francisco?
NOt really! He's big but he's got a big belly now...not attractive at all...unless you're into that type ;)
When Bev says "I won't say it till you do," I'm so touched. To me, she IS the merry Widow. I can never watch anyone else in that role again. What an actress!!! I've just been heartbroken since her death.
