    Wishing you an even better 2025, and I hope you double your subscribers! I was looking forward to some back and forth banter between you and your boss like you do with Jacob!! 😊 But good video AB and schooling session for you minus the brain fart!

    I was gonna ask the same thing about why not popper being used, but I saw your response. Nice to know the popper can be unreliable at times, good stuff and happy new year broski

      Oh yeah i keep it in my bag to try sometimes but im very cautious about when i use it. Customer info (like when they say they kicked it to cool mode and it hasnt worked since) can normally point me in the right direction

    😅 I like they twisted the stat wire and tried to make it look good at the shitty wire nutted connections. Everyone’s diagnostic process is unique and it is helpful and interesting to watch others diagnose.

    When troubleshooting low voltage shorts get a Short Pro Tool. I've been using one for about 5 years and tossed by poppers away.

    I have questions. 1, did you have enough extra wires so you could get rid of the yellow wire? 2, why didn't either of y'all use a fuse popper or similar tool?

    • @AB_HVAC
      @AB_HVAC  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      1- there was enough wires on all thermostat wiring to change the Yellow to Orange, its a straight AC so we only had to change it at the Condenser, Thermostat, and Furnace.
      2 - I wasnt leading the service call so i let him do it how he does it. Ive had 5A lil poppers not trip when my low volt side was pulling 8A so sometimes i dont even pull it out. I normally just start checking low volt wires continuity to C before i add a new fuse.

      @@AB_HVAC if you ever scrap old RTU get the popper from it. Those work perfectly for me

  • @john7017
    @john7017 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Boss man sure takes the long way around to find a low voltage short. I use a 3 amp popper and a 24v test light, clamp one side of the test light to the R terminal, disconnect the common wires and start probing to see what wire lights the test light and finds ground. Data driven diagnostics.

    • @AB_HVAC
      @AB_HVAC  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He definitely does. Im 50/50 on the lil poppers man, ive had them recently not pop and blow transformers. 3A and 5A

  • @dipley3771
    @dipley3771 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I see eventually he found the low voltage short. Why not diagnose why the temp rise was at max ? Was static pressure on the duct work good with the cfms in range? Feel like this one may be a call back.

    • @AB_HVAC
      @AB_HVAC  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They never had a problem with the unit heating. The issue was the low volt short. They switched the thermostat to cool, it messed up, then would never cut back on when they cut it to heat mode thus the service call. Not to say there may not be something wrong with the temp rise (return seemed a bit small to me in my opinion for a 80kbtu) but it was his call to just not look into it. I didnt argue. Hell, he didnt even care about the temp rise im the one who pointed it out because it seemed weird to me 😅

    • @dipley3771
      @dipley3771 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ I give you flowers for noticing the temp rise but should’ve took advantage of being there and diagnosing why the temp rise was high. Hopefully bossman owns the company..

    I know you can't be critical of your boss, but he really should explain exactly what he's doing to make you a better mechanic. Also, videos are pointless because we can't see what he's doing.. When I go with my guys I let them troubleshoot while I watch and steer them in the right direction. I guess some guys are better teachers than others.

    • @AB_HVAC
      @AB_HVAC  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh no, im critical of him. I just do it respectfully. Hes not a good verbal teacher, and its taken me a few years to get that. Hes been doing this since he was a kid. Working for his grandad, then his dad, now himself. There are plenty of good techs that aren't good teachers.

      I only use my headlamp when im under a house or in an attic. Closets i have a little magnetic light that gets the job done just fine.
