    Thank you for this nice instructional video. I just ordered the sealant and hope to have it Thursday. Anyway, I am now wondering if I need to buy a second one. My aquarium is approximately the size you had. Did you come close to using an entire 10oz of sealant? Thanks.

      Best of luck with your aquarium! No I didn't come close to using the whole tube. One should be enough

    Great video.. I also watch Joey too.. my 80litre tank has leaked a few days ago. I've fully emptyed the tank letting to dry.. the silicone on mine is coming and it's loss not a great sign hence it leaking.. Got all the peaces I need to do it.. this will be my first time sealing a tank I've been in the hobby over 8 years

    what is the purpose of removing the top trim and did you put it back on Did your reseal pass the water test? This is worth it in my area as even used tanks are priced high thanks for the video

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Donna, yeah I put the top trim back on and it passed the water test. The purpose of removing it is so you can reseal the aquarium all the way back up to the top. If you look at some of my other videos, I have a guppy tank and it is the tank from this video

    I’ve always wanted an aquarium. However I want it filled with octopus’... octopi... octopuses 🐙 Nice tutorial 👍

    Before i reseal my aquarium. Do i have to peel out my wallpaper background first..??

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the background is on the inside of the tank then yeah I would recommend taking it off first

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@muhammadalibaba7567 Oh ok, If it is on the outside I think it would be ok to leave it, because you will only be applying the silicon to the inside of the tank

    For the price of silicone and the work u had to do. I think a new aquarium would be cheaper and easier. Just my opinion!

      And time…

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I realized I didn't mention it in the video, but I ended up only needing to use 1/2 of one of the tubes of silicone. but yeah for this size of aquarium I agree with you, especially when petco has the dollar per gallon sale. However, I feel that for larger aquariums this can help you save money

    Takes forever removing silicon...but thanks for the tip 😬

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah for certain aquariums it will be easier and cheaper to just buy a new one, but when you get into the larger sizes or unusual sizes it may be worth resealing them because it can save a lot of money 😄

    your standing right in front of the camera as you are smoothing it out so we can not even see how you are doing it

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can pretty much just run your finger along it to push the silicon into the corners completely. I had this special plastic tool to do it, but I don't know what it's called and its not really necessary

    • @kylecorden4201

      @@TobiasHolenstein U can use a towel and lick your finger so it doesn't stick to your finger. Wipe access off finger with towel. Carpenter trick
      Idk because I never done it yet but 90 degree on the cut of the end of the silicon seems harder then cutting it on a slight slant. The reason for the slant is it helps keep an even bead and helps guide the silicon. Also a carpenter trick.
