I enjoyed this. I've just been trying to do the same job on my girl. Started out with a 'quick' change of the fuel filter...12 hours later, blinded by petrol and close to flicking a match at the whole sorry mess I came and watched you having a bash at doing yours. It's good to know that other people have the same struggles. I just wish I could stay so calm as you! These cars are just awesome though and well worth the effort. I hope you've got her on the road now!
Thanks Nic, I have the luxury of turning the camera off to shout and kick it! This thing is ever so close now (latest video is quite positive!), how's yours doing?
@@furiousdriving I finished at 9pm today and she is back on the road, Waiting for my new fuel pump to arrive but at least she's mobile in the meantime just very noisy from the pump. It's on its last legs I'm sure.
There's supposed to be a blue sleeve on the fuel filter as well but for some reason new filters dont come with it. The fuel accumulator is used to mainitain fuel poressure when hot, so if it has failed it would result in poor hot starting. It wouldnt affect cold starting.
You seem to be ignoring the fuel delivery to the pump. There's a fuel strainer in the tank that might be blocked and that elbow joint is the pressure damper, which also might be faulty.
Did you ever get this car going I am having the very same symptoms with a 1980 280ce new pump new injectors fuel to injectors but not going true injectors
Is it not possible to bypass the fuel tank and supply system? ive seen mechanics gravity feed fresh fuel from a petrol can on carbureted systems to prove an engine ignites when the fuel tank is compromised with old petrol.
Where you located bud? (General area that is), if you're not too far away I wouldn't mind dropping over and giving you a hand to get the old girl running :) I'm not convinced it's a blockage as there wasn't as much fuel coming out that pump as I would have expected.
@@furiousdriving The midlands, but I'm sure I could take a ride out. But BEFORE you do anything, get more fuel into the tank or level the car off as it's struck me all the fuel will be thrown forwards with the car being up on the stands at the back. I have a feeling its a supply problem from the tank. Also, if you can, prime the fuel filter and lift pump to help get the fuel up to the rail. If/when I do take a ride down, I'd suggest we replace ALL he fuel lines to eliminate the existing lines being a problem.
i have similar luck trying to fix my w123. i try to fix something and then end of finding something bigger needs fixing and ive knackered something else!
Wait till you see the next one - no update for 2 weeks as I found EVEN MORE problems with things I thought were sorted, maybe I can get some progress tomorrow...
haha, that would be useful, but probably just vanish over the fence like my car covers! If anyone would like to crowd fund me some Wickes vouchers I could put up a car port and stop the cars dissolving (it is Christmas..)
fuel system does not need to be primed. I would see if fuel is getting through the hard lines to the fuel distributor as a next step if it was my car. See at the about 2min mark in this video th-cam.com/video/_0vhImRd-v4/w-d-xo.html where he is unscrewing the fuel line. There is normally another filter at this spot too, most people don't know about it.
Thanks, I had no idea about that second filter, Ive just watch his video and Ill go take a look later, if that's all thats stopping the car running it would be fantastic!

Gutted, I was genuinely thinking that this would be the video that saw the old girl splutter into life!!!! Keep up the good work mate!
Me too, I was sure this was it...next time! Thank you!

Hi. I like that you try and try again. Greetings from Norway.
Its the only way to win in the end (unless you pay someone)

not really with fuel injection, it needs a high pressure feed
Did you have to change the fuel pressure regulator?
from about 4:16 theres audio issues btw
I know, didn't spot it after editing, sorry
Try to pour a little bit of fuel into the kjetronic housing where is disc plate to see if it will run short
Ive been thinking about doing that for fun

If it is the tank then its definitely the kind of job that needs 2 pairs of hands, youd be welocome! Im in the South East, where are you?

Zidane, how do you manage to be a soccer coach and also do this :). Cheers handsome w123 owner like myself.
Did you even put fuel back in the tank after installing the pump?
no, but there was no sign of fuel falling out, that said more fresh fuel will be making an appearance before the next video

keep up the good work!
Can we crowdfund a Wind Break for you. Like one of those beach ones?

@@furiousdriving Hopefully yes, but realistically you have a fair chance the fuel distributor is all gunked up
