ECX Temper Gen 2, Is it the most fun 1/18 Crawler you can buy for the price?

- This relatively inexpensive 1/18 rock crawler is the most fun crawler I've ever bought for under $200, its not the most capable or controllable but, for the price it gives you the most smiles and laughs you could want in a small RC! Hope you enjoy!

I have a blue ECX Temper Gen2 rock crawler I absolutely love it lights beads locks can't beat it for the price !!!!!!!!!!!!!

A few little things and that little buggy would be a killer little crawler. Great price point for someone getting into the hobby as well

Coincidently, I'm not far from there, I was born and raised in the Coeur D'Alene area. InControl Hobbies is in Post Falls Idaho. I was looking for a size comparison for this crawler because I travel for work and would like something small to take on the road. ECX is always a good option for budget RCs. I got a ECX stadium truck for my wife it is impressive for the price.
Most common problems with those are the driveshafts. They are not strong enough for the rig. Super easy fix. Pen spring mod and siping the tires work really great for this rig. You can also buy a carbon fiber body to lighten it up. It will require different links though. I have two and I am happy with them! Glad to see you picked one up!

How do you fix the weak driveshaft
@@isaiah9313 I have two of them. I used a 1/10 driveshaft from ECX and also a universal metal one. Both driveshaft you have to clearance the transmission case.

I fell like all the bad reviews, the people were insane. the temper is pretty good, toss a 1080 it in and it really comes alive! I love mine!
I haven’t looked for any reviews about this rig but I’m shocked that anyone would say anything negative about it, it’s so fun 👍🏻
What I really like about these is the central 540 motor vs like Grayson’s danchee that’s motor on axle. It allows many options for mods.

Yeah that’s kinda what I think it’s comparable too, never ran the Danchee but I’m sure it’s similar
@@UpperLeftRC It looks like its wicked fun, much faster then the Danchee. So Id bet a dried creek would be so fun to haul up and down with that rig. or even just doing a hill climb! and for that price, might have to get one now!
The axles are it's weak point. I can't buy/find them anywhere. I did an aftermarket esc and receiver and the control is awesome.

These are more like 1/12 scale.. almost bought one at horizon fest this year. They’re really really capable
Yeah it’s pretty big, I think 1/18 scale is a stretch
I live in Coeur d’Alene Idaho and I go to in control hobbies almost every week and I also have a temper but it is blue

That is a really sweet little rig. Looks fun. Different motor and who knows. Could you run a lipo with that motor. I was thinking its semi rock bouncer style for sure. But could just change some gearing and well you know. Say word. Thanks as always.
Yeah it can run a Lipo I just haven’t tried it yet but I will lol 🤘🏼
I have the older ECX, you can run a 2S Lipo.
