Genos is lucky. He’s just like us, the readers. Only Genos and the readers were able to see the epic battle between Cosmic Fear Garou and Saitama and remember it. As for Garou, I’m glad that he was able to redeem himself. After 7 long years, we finally finished this arc, had a satisfying conclusion and we can finally start the long awaited Neo Heroes arc, so the manga can finally catch up to the webcomic.

In my opinion Garou is the best example of an incredibly written antagonist.
He was actually pretending to be Evil, but at end of the day he still helped out Hero Assocation.

I haven't heard anybody mention how when Garou jumps away nobody tracks him except Saitama. Everybody else is looking down where he was but Saitama is looking up, showing that he was able to perceive his speed and track his direction.

Btw to clarify to people, Garou, when teaching saitama time travel, the very same technique he said he never managed to master it, somehow ACTUALLY does it.. he goes back in time as well but in the state where the powers are leaving him and he is dying. This could be for 2 simple reasons:
1. Garou does not have mastery over time travel, so he couldn't undo the damage God was doing to him, and he couldnt merge with his old self.
2. Garou did master it, and he did properly travel back in time and should have somehow lived and merged, but god's abilities transcend "TIME" and garou's overall level (Which was semi universal at that point).
So, all what Garou managed to do is to go back time in his dying state to the point he could see Tareo wake up so his heart is assured. That's all. It was beautiful.

i see everyone fails to mention that Saitama didn't get his emotions back, but had an emotional development at the beginning of the fight with Garou. He noticed how strong Garou was and said he was finally getting the battle he wished for, with an opponent that can take his hits and perhaps actually push Saitama, yet he felt no excitement. Because now he was holding Genos core and everyone else was dead due to Saitama arriving too late, so he was more disappointed and sad about himself than looking forward to the fight.
What do you think would have happened if Saitama fought with 2 hands? Genos was grounding him.
It was still heaps sad though, Saitama held on to him through it all.

He is kind of a hyppcrite though he told siryu if he fights for fun he shouldnt even be fighting or something like that but it seems to me that he wants to fight for fun too since he is looking for an opponent that can make him feel excited about fighting, like always king was right saitama needs to get his priorities right he trained so hard to become a hero but then he got bored because no one gave him a challenge anymore, then he joined the hero association to be able to pay rent, now he is looking for someone that he can go all out on, that's why he didnt feel anything he lost sight of his true purpose of becoming powerful it wasnt to look for a thrilling fight it was to become a hero which he failed to do when garou killed everyone I guess subconsciously he knows that which is why he couldnt enjoy the fight

I have a feeling Genos will bring the core to Dr. Kuseno and store those memories somewhere (obviously for all to know Saitama as the Strongest Hero).
I really like this, like if Saitama actually forgot then maybe genos can upload his memories to a screen and show him or even just show others like you said. Id Really like to see Saitama get the recognition he deserves, I'm wondering if like the memories will get to the hero association and they'll understand what he did or something and they'll cover it up slightly so only the higher ups know about it and Saitama will get his A rank like in the webcomic and not be S because that high of a jump from where he is now would seem unreasonable to the public.

I think the only time Garou was essentially bad in a sense was when God’s power was given to him. Outside of that he was still a generally human guy but with his own personal goals that made him seem bad but only because it opposes the heroes even though most of them aren’t really good / heroic people themselves.
I don't think garou needs his memories. I think it will be better character growth if he can change for the better without knowing everything

Saitama defending Garou in front of so many Heroes was an Amazing Detail.
The fact that saitama returned back to his nerfed form was necessary because at this rate he might have obliterated the entire solar system with an accidental fart after a few tacos. But well, this still doesnt change the fact that Saitama can instantly grow to universal threat within nano seconds... and he still invincible anyway.

Saitama was serious during the fight but towards the end when he was way ahead on the graph, he was no longer serious because he reached a new height of power. And when he travelled back in time and the narrator says the punch "Powered up on jupiter went back in time". This is pretty simple, he grew exponentially due to a challenging opponent, which confirms his infinite growth rate.

The fact that Garou's spirit showed up to wake Tareo up, shows that Saitama didnt "erased" the timeline like previously thought. He just went back in time, ala Trunks.

It's called, (causality reversal; basically the reversal of cause and effect) so the death of garou was undone, there perhaps time was reversed too, but it's the same timeline.

Amai Mask is projecting. As a monster himself, he's judging Garou based on himself. The majority of the "heroes" were USELESS in the previous battles. Only the ones who actually fought the monsters WITH Garou are willing to let him be. Yes, he was a hero hunter but Tario, Metal Bat and Saitama know he's not really bad...despite trying to be.
I do have a theory that Amai Mask is an Ugmon. His body is the entire mask when he was torn apart his ugmon is inside the body and survives. The body is just a costume.

He was already empty. The only reason he was as brazen as he was is because of the power bestowed to him by god, but before that when Saitama beat his monster form he felt nothing but despair and defeat claiming how Saitama was the embodiment of unfairness until God came.
@@computationjix428 I think it's because saitama don't want to take credits and he might have been hiding his skills on manipulation (based on his current feats) because it's shown that he can break and counter through psychic powers and he's not really affected by it,, also when he time travelled saitama's suit should've been like it was before they fought but its ripped ,could be a possibility that his strength were the same as in the future but he's lying about not remembering anything , also about him feeling empty again is not good nor bad because when his strength abnormally powered up, he got so strong and suddenly were able to 1tap garou that made him bored(again) so it's the same whether he forgot or not., but let's just wait for another chapter so we can confirm some misunderstandings.
I think it is best for him. Reaching that power level will make him more detached from humanity, more bored and eventually drive him to a darker path.
Genos better have a huge power-up like a core for offense and core to power up his defense like a Tatsumaki shield. He could even say it was an upgrade based on battle experience.

I’m glad they came out and confirm in this chapter that their are in fact different timelines and realities and not just one singular universe that the OPM universe is confined too. People were arguing that it’s just one singular universe and that Saitama going back in time erased all the events in the future but Saitama went back to another timeline before Garou killed everyone with his radiation.
Why are people taking Genos' theory as fact it's literally just an explanation he gives for what could've happened it doesn't mean it's what actually happened

We have to stop downplaying saitama. He was gradually increasing his strength to :
Not kill garou but to knock him out/put him down. The problem is garou kept adapting and growing stronger, like the sayain trope.
EVERYTIME he hit garou to put him down, he was underestimating garou (or being careful not to kill him) , at the same time garou would get stronger so it allowed saitama to use more power than he had previously. That’s why garou could never catch up to him. Hence the graph.
Saitama isn’t “weaker” he’s just on earth and dealing with regular people. His serious punch threatened the entire earth.
Think of it like he’s back to base after going SSGSS or something. Not a diff form, but he’s back to his base earthly strength…
Garou will be used as tool for a future enemy. He’ll be beat prolly easily to hype up another enemy, or jump in to help and get railed for hype..

He didn't care enough to bring back his memories, but he cared enough to bring back Genos' core. It's cool how he didn't care about being merged for the time-line to correct itself, but he cared enough about the core and made sure that it did not disappear. Like, woah!

It's not that big a deal that he doesn't remember. I think he knows that his power is limitless, so there isn't really anything for him to fear.
This conclusion was very meta in the sense that they not only did find a way to use time travel and multiverse theory to give us an amazing battle without tempering too much with the continuity, but this also ends up explaining the "blunder" (either intentional or not) of the sitting down and talk scene. It was just another possible future where Saitama and Tareo reached out to Garou before God could.
I'm not sure he lost the power, I think it's just his memory. When he said the punch was stronger than Saitama he was talking about the punches before.

I really don’t know how could anyone belive that this is a beatiful finale when there is no resolution. There is no outburst of garou about the hero society, no saitama speech, saitama character development wasted and so like others.

Considering Saitama doesn't remember the time travel and has no memory of it, there is a possibility or a hint of how he got his overwhelming power as well. It could be a different timeline Saitama who merged with the current timeline Saitama who was doing his 10km run, 100 pushup, and 100 squats regime.
That is why he only remembers the regime before the merging for his overwhelming power.
In the chapter, Genos states that "A new you separated from the original you at the start of your time travel, and merged with you the you of this timeline when the movement was completed". Which means there are two Saitama's in two timelines.
The current timeline Saitama is twice powerful (merged one), if not more, than the Saitama giving the serious punch for the first time to Cosmic Garou on earth (when Blast and his team teleports them in space)
Murata has already shown that Saitama doesn't follow the laws of physics, maybe Saitama is a being who comes from the future to defeat overwhelming power but loses his memory in the process, while getting more powerful in the main timeline.

One nice detail is that when garou disappears, only saitama is able to track his movements (saitama is looking up while all the other heroes are shocked.)
So Garou and Saitama drinking tea and talking really did happened in one of parallel worlds. And King dindt get the creadit because his been carring Tatsumaki all the time.
What a great ending of this amazing arc. Well, it's not quite the end yet looking at Murata's tweet. I gotta say I didn't expect Genos to learn the truth from the core so soon, but it's good that he did. The moment with Tareo seeing the ghost of future Garou smiling and disappearing was really beautiful. Also the heroes wondering what to do with Garou and Tareo defending him was really similar to the webcomic. Can't wait to see what's next.

I feel like when he combines with his future self. There will be some sort of changes to this version of Saitama. Think about it, he literally merged. Not just disappears to thin air. It's further proven when his costume also changed after being merged. So either he will remember the events slowly or his strength will be on par with the future Saitama, but he just didn't know yet. Perhaps in the next chapter, Saitama will show one of his punches and will be extremely shocked by how much his strength has been boosted unknowingly

Hmm... so is Tareo a hero candidate too? Amai Mask was charging at Garou likely with considerable speed for his attack and yet Tareo was able to catch up and tackle his leg. That little guy is fast! ^^
After the presence of multiverse has been confirmed , what if god is some kind of evil saitama from a different universe way way into the future and therefore is immensely powerful and has lost all of his humanity and turned into a literal god and probably is omnipotent, but the only thing thay was protecting this universe were those black cubes, but saitama of this universe touching one of those cubes in the past chapters might have triggered something due to which god(evil future saitama) can now transfer power to people of this universe and even come into this world. But he is also scared to face saitama of this universe by himself because he is afraid of saitama(who in a sense is himself).
I guess now as saitama can best literally anyone from his universe easily i think to make the final fight between god and saitama interesting some revelation like this would be made in the future.

Garou was weak in mind and when he got his powers, he became more and more lost..and finally he understood what saitama feels...how a strong person's life is just hollow and painful...he realized how saitama suffers because he is just too strong... garou became a strong entity after literally selling his soul but saitama was that much strong the whole time...the whole time saitama was going through shit that no one understands not even genos..only garou understood him in the end...saitama is a very wise person...but like genos we audience will never know if saitama actually remembered everything or not..we can also think saitama just don't care and comes out as noble by accident...but deep down he is that noble person in real life..because a person can not be sane with that much power... But he manages to stay sane after all of this ...

Saitama didn’t get stronger the whole time, he was just powered up and up until garou is no longer kept up.

Simply moving back in time means that the position of the planet is not in the same position anymore. If you traveled through time - into the past - but remained in the same point in space, planet Earth would no longer exists in the same position.

First, I want to say thank you 10000 times to Murata for being an amazing human being at handling my favorite series all these years. Now we have our second arc completely done after the alien-invasion arc. Now please hear what I have on my mind. You can hate me all you want if it against your own opinion. First, time travel is pretty cliche and that's the last thing I wanna see in OPM and it did happened. Can we come up with some other way? I really wish chapter 168 gets a redraw and it didn't happen. Truly a disappointment.
We lost a bunch of great moments from the webcomic such as the table flip being witnessed by Zombieman, although that's OK it happens in IO because it's basically a planet-desctruction level so nobody will have a chance to witness it.
Not only he lost his memories due to travel backwards in time, Saitama didn't even try to convince others that he's the one that put Garou in his place. Flashy Flash said it was a naked figure that took him out with a one punch and then he flew away. For a smart person as he is, he should be remember a person that can took monsters with just a raw single attack, I mean he was with Saitama all the time in the underground. But instead he said maybe it was Blast. What, butthurt because he was outclassed by Blast? I think he's gonna simping for Blast now. The same for Saitama, he just had to running his mouth and mentioned Blast. Of course everyone will agreed if it was Blast who defeated Garou without give it a second thought. Not only that, where is the moment when he say "But you will never defeat me" in front of Garou? Just like it says in the panel "Reputation damaged", everything is damaged. Now how is he going to get promoted to class A without doing anything (in other's perspective)? How and for what reason Flashy Flash going to approach Saitama now to ask him to become his disciple?
The point of Garou's hero hunting is for planting the seed of fears of him to everyone. Look what happened now, it's the opposite. They only felt the fear in a minute and proceed to beat him up. Instead of the heroes that got beaten up so bad, it's Garou that got beaten up by some dirty punks even though it felt like nothing to him. Where is the fear now? The heroes should be suffers and thinking about changing a carrer from this event but no. The fear that Garou gives should have a big impact to society so much to the point it will reduce the number of heroes. This could lead to Neo Heroes arc at some point. I prefer Garou to be seen as a threat to humanity and lose with shame because of Saitama because that's just how things should have been. I didn't blame Garou for not fighting back when those punks touch him because I think it's the effect of his ability travel back in time. What I really want is, the both sides got hurt so bad. The heroes suffers from the fear that Garou gaves and Garou suffers from his dream being crushed by Saitama and how powerless he is in front of him. But this is what we got, I think I'm just gonna have to live with it. I've never show my happiness and dissatisfaction for a chapter before and this is going to be the first one. I'm sorry, but chapter 168 (starts from page 55) and chapter 169 was so fucking bad.
The root of this problem is because of that time travel shit. Really ONE, MCU all over again? Endgame was the only reason I stopped watching a fiction movie anymore, it's just hearing "time travel" makes my blood boils and my hate just grow at an unexpected rate. When there is something just happened to be in a broken state, do you really have to use "space and time" to fix it or just live with it? Just accept it and move forward for the love of God

i agree with a lot of the takes here especially garou being the fearful character, i enjoy this chapter but the ending left me unsatisfied, i too want to see how scary and fearful garou is in front of the heroes...
this is my own prediction for the future arc, especially the neo heroes arc and i think garou must be a part of this cuz if they have their own class S heroes i think this is the time that he can show how fearful and scary garou is. i think Murata and ONE might transfer this to this arc, but if not then well so be it.
tho after chapter 170, the epilogue for this arc, i'll stop reading OPM for a long time( maybe after 2-3 years i'll continue reading XD)

I think it would've been better if cosmic garou accepted defeat and seeing tareo dead decided to bring back the fallen heroes but due to this "God" strips him of this power, but I'm alright with this ending as well. It's not great but I wouldn't say it's that bad that you have to drop the manga for it.

wait I thought he just didn't listen to what genos said? more of it shows that he doesn't care as he doesn't like long sentences and there are signs that Saitama still stronger then before where Garou escape while everyone with looking some other place only Saitama was looking upwards, Garou speed was faster before they started fighting but now Saitama saw where he escaped
