Note how they let people exit when they want. When Hyeri was on the show they physically restrained the participants and wouldn't let them leave - even though they were in a blind panic and couldn't breath. I guess there was a lot of criticism about that aspect.
The first season was alot more intense since they go full on real military training mode. They reduced it down in later seasons.
Real military have to do it like that, because in a real situation you can't "just leave".
What do you think the military is preparing for?? Korea is still in a war, and when war comes, the gas doesn’t go away just because you had a panic attack.
@@emeru4347 I think the point is they aren't in the military, they are just celebrities making a tv show. Also north korea isn't going to be using those non-lethal gases, it's likely to be deadly nerve gas.
juandenz2008 Yeah, but when they di the show, they sign a contract which is an agreement to “live like the soldiers”. The celebrities knew what they were signing up for, and they got paid to endure the experience.
Also, this show’s goal is not for pure entertainent. Idk for foreigners but for koreans, this show is awareness and is supposed to let us know what’s happening in the military. If the military shows a weak side, then the citizens cannot depend on them. Representation in media has to equal what really happens in military. You can’t expect them to “go easy” just because they’re a celebrity.
Moreover, your opinion about “North Korea is ‘t going to use these non-lethal gases” shouldn’t matter. Your opinion is equivalent to
“We shouldn’t study for a test because the question doesn’t come from our notes and it’s harder than what we are studying fir”
If the soldier gets immune to the practice, they know what to do when their life is in danger.
The thing is...that i don't find it funny about the gas training...because its really irittating and painful with out the filters and after the training... sheesh, its so painful.
its done so you appreciate how the gas mask works and the urgency at which you need to deploy it correctly and as quickly as possible.

Seriously? It's military training. If someone isn't laughing at your discomfort during military training it's because they don't care about you. CS gas is uncomfortable and it sucks, but it's far from the end of the world and it clears out your sinuses really well.

Bro as someone who’s in the Army, that gas is no fucking joke, it burns so bad and I’m actually proud of them for staying that long, but then I completely understand the people who left because that shit really hurts. Once you take off the seal, you instantly are breathing in gas and you can hardly breathe.

It’s CS gas. Basically pepper spray in gas form. Standard military training. In the military you might be in high risk areas of contaminants. The gas chamber is used to test if the soldiers know how to secure their masks correctly. They first put the mask on, seal it and then walk into the room. After which, they will breath in and make sure the seal is working. Then to test how well the soldier is at putting on the mask, or in this case the canister on their mask while in the gas they are instructed to take the canister off, then screw it back on and reconfirm the seal. If done correctly, only a small amount of discomfort is felt. It is not life threatening and is not that bad. I’ve been through it 4 times and can tell you first hand it’s easy.
I hear abt those people who have an immunity to tear gas and I wonder if I have it, but then I remember I can’t even be near cut onions cause they hurt so bad lmao

i love this show. i wish we had something similar in the states. it would shed light on what it takes to build a volunteer off the street into a warrior. and it would help the public understand that when they vote it matters because who they vote for will decide when we send those volunteers into harms way.

South Korea have been doing these kinds of shows for a very long time. In the 80's and 90's there were reality shows where a celebrity goes to another country and live with a tribe for a month. Korea been having reality shows way before US never thought about it. This is like a learning show ...where celebrities go through these expeditions and learn about another culture. When you see the episodes of celebrities that go to the jungles of africa and live with a tribe....those shows were amazing and at the end it was always a heartfelt crying goodbyes. So these programs are for learning about you.....learn about other cultures and life through experience....it makes you grow as a person. But todays shows just different. Still good but different.
