Great Mickey Mantle/Ken Boyer 1960 Topps card! I have zero Mickey Mantle cards!☹ I used to have a bunch of 1983 Donruss Hall of Fame Heroes cards, but they went with the rest of my cards!⚾
Thanks so much! Yeah, I have a few present-day Mantle cards . . . but was pretty happy to add this one. He also has a player card and an all-star card for this set. I actually plan to add the Willie Mays card first . . . but will have to pick these cards up eventually. Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much! This vintage album is super cool. I am using adhesive discs instead of sticking the cards through the flaps. The paper is just too brittle to add the cards that way. Thanks for watching!
Fantastic Mickey Mantle and Ken Boyer combo card. Ken Boyer needs a deeper look at the HOF and Mantle is a cornerstone in any collection in my opinion. My first Mantle was his 1956 Topps. No way i could afford it now. Enjoyed Danny and congrats.
Thank you, Steve! I honestly expected folks to bad mouth me a bit because it is a multiplayer card . . .but everyone has been pretty cool. When I bought this card, I sat back and thought, "This is my first Mantle!" I knew then that I had the title to my video. I am incredibly proud of this card. I hope to add more over time. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
@@12againsports I hope they would not bad mouth you on it. If they do they are not a true supporter and friend to you and your channel Danny. Great stuff and congrats brother. 👍🏻⚾️
Thanks, David! When I bought this card, I sat back and had a moment. I just bought my first Mantle!! I knew right then what the title should be to the video. I may use it again when I get his player card . . . just stoked to own this now. I think it is awesome you can remember which was your first Mantle card. Super cool!!!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Yes sir, this card is a step in the right direction. I still need his player card and all-star card for this set. Trying to knock out cards 1-216 first. At some point, I will need to Yaz rookie and the Will Mays plyer card. Baby steps!
Thanks, Jason! I still need his player card and all-star, but I am super happy to have this one. Your first being the 58 all-star makes sense as you collected all those. Super cool!
ha ha Sticker Boss gotcha, hate when that happens! Nice pickup for your 1960 binder! The only Mickey Mantle cards I have are modern "SP" ones, from when Topps used to have him be #7 in the set.
Not a great idea to cut your nails the day before needing to peel a sticker back on a video, lol. When I bought this card, I sat back and thought, "I just bought my first Mantle!" I knew then I had a video title. Mantle has a couple other cards in this set. Those will come in time. Right now, I celebrate owning this one. Thanks for watching buddy.
Hi Ed! Thanks, man. I know there are thousands of collectors out there with dozens of Mantle cards . . . but this is my first. Just another example of a card I never dreamed I would own as a kid. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, John. When I bought this card, I sat back and thought, "I just bought my first Mantle!" I knew then I had the title to my video. I am pretty proud of this one. There will be better cards over time, but this one was pretty satisfying.
Very nice pick up Danny, congrats on your 1st Mantle. So excited for you to be able to add this to your collection. Thanks for sharing it, take care and keep collecting.
Hi Omyo! Thank you, brother. This card is a step in the right direction. I still need to Mantle player card and the Mantle all-star card. Because of the numbering, I really need to chase the Willie Mays card first (#200). I am still pretty stoked to now have an actual Mickey Mantle card.
NICE! That is a beautiful Mantle/Boyer card. I know the multiplayer cards are not as "valuable" in terms of collectors pricing but I like the mutli-player cards because as an old school baseball fan I followed players not dollars. I have bought a few cards of late and I agree on the packaging. I appreciate the guys who protect the card but some of y'all get way carried away and make it like Ft. Knox and that is crazy. Anyway Congrats on that great looking Mantle. The book is really coming together!
Hi Tex! I hate to complain about someone keeping a product safe, but like you said, don't get carried away. Adding this card was a bit surreal. The Mantle name carries a ton of weight in this hobby. Mantle has a player card and an all-star card in this set. I will eventually chase those, too. But for now, I am super happy to have this gem in the album. I need the Yaz rookie and Wille Mays to fill this one in. I am making progress though! Thanks for the constant support my friend!
Thank you, Orlando. This album is incredibly satisfying to build. Something about adding vintage cards to a vintage album just makes perfect sense, lol. I appreciate you taking the time to both watch and comment!
Gosh, I never get tired of seeing this album. Congrats on busting your Mantle cherry! Back in the day those backs would have been toast- Thank Goodness for penny sleaves! I bought a '59 Mantle all-star card when I was a teenager at a card show, still one of my best cards. Thanks for sharing and Good Collecting 👍👍💗💗
Hi Robert! Yes sir, I was a little reluctant to get into the Mantle game. I still need 2 more for this set. Baby steps, but I am already looking for my next one, lol.
Thanks, man. You know, I wasn't sure how this video would be received. It is not a high-end card, but folks seem to really respect the fact this is my first Mantle card. It is awesome to get to share that with collectors who seem to understand the thrill. I still need to chase his player card and his all-star card. Baby steps, lol!
For me, I enjoy your channel because you don’t focus all the time on high-end cards and analyzing every flaw (yawn lol) . This is pretty close to being as pure a collecting endeavor as you will see. If viewers are looking for condition talk, pop reports, and “big boy” cards, there are plenty of other places they can go. You’re doing your thing, and I think it’s awesome. I try to do the same on my channel. That’s what it’s about. The Boyer and Mantle card seems like an odd pairing on the surface, given that Mantle was much more famous at the time and they only played against each other in the All-Star Game or maybe spring training. I imagine they knew each other because Mickey played with his brother Clete. I love the card because I am an admirer of both players. Ken Boyer has a solid Hall of Fame case. Have a great Sunday. Terry
@@tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648 Thank you, Terry. I am honestly not very familiar with Ken Boyer. There were several comments praising him as a player. I would imagine it would be difficult for a player to shine with so many superstars of the time. Still, I need to do him justice and study up. I hope you day is awesome!
I have never seen a card album like that. That is a really cool item. The Topps 1960 design is one of my favorites. My first Mantle card was exactly the same card.
@@CleanCheapShots Thanks, buddy. I was looking through collector albums on eBay when I stumbled across this. I got 2 of them, but the set will take 3. Some kid built this set years ago in this album. I am trying to recreate that. Thank you for watching!!
@macwaxxstacks Hi BK! I appreciate you swinging by and checking out the video. Yes, sir, this dude is coming together nicely. Vintage cards in a vintage album just makes sense, lol.
Hey Danny awesome pickup! Congrats! Anything from Mantles Plato g days is pretty cool and Ken Boyer was a great player too, he should be in the HOF! My first Mantle was the 58 Topps All Star.
@PickerJimS Hi Jim! I Qasim pretty excited to add this card to the binder. I still need his player card and all-star card, but will get there over time. Baby steps!
My wife was telling me today that there's always someone mowing when she does her outdoor TH-cam videos. I never have that problem, so I guess I always do my filming at night.
LOL! I have a table upstairs that I like to film at, but if Becky is working, I can't be up there. I make do with our dining room table when I need to. For this video, the kid across the street was running a leaf blower, lol.
Looks great, Danny! I can't help but wonder if that little kid is still walking around on God's green earth somewhere. And how to find him. Do you need cards #15, 38, 111, or 153?
Hi Eric, I checked, and I have those cards already. You know, I do hope this kid is still running around somewhere . . . all grown up and missing his albums. I bet his mom threw them out, lol.
