A very useful video, it debunks some rules. I also think that a green wall is not necessary, it is definitely a plus, it helps the baby in the first days after birth. Green algae also on the ground. However, the most important thing is the biofilm. There is life there. The larger the sponges, not too dense, preferably 45 ppi, the better, there will be more babies. In fact, they are there all the time. I don't have green glass in my tanks, but where I have large sponges, life thrives. Mothers carry eggs all the time. Sorry for my English, I use Google translator...
My neocaridina were introduced specifically to control an algae outbreak in a 20-gallon tank. They've since been moved to a 29g that has never once had a green wall, and they are happily reproducing. Even being somewhat heavily planted, I can always spot 2 or 3 nymphs or more in just a moment's observation.
I only have 10 aquariums, but what I’ve noticed is that my shrimp breed just as well in tanks with green walls as in those without. In fact, the tank that’s working best right now doesn’t have any green at all.
Happy New Year Bene! I think it really depends on what a person is trying to achieve. Some of my tanks have green walls, some don't. But, I also try to let things happen "naturally" inside the aquarium by "Keeping it Shrimple" and do more observing than manipulating ... and I feel like less manipulation in the tank results in more stability.
I only have a small amount of green dust algae on some bare rocks, none on the glass. My cherries don't even bother with it, they just eat biofilm off the plants leaves, floater rings and substrate.
Happy new year sifu 💪 fresh video today...i have tank cycle only 2 week without green wall, then put my shrimp there, all shrimp fine just need to feed shrimp every day,now tank almost 8 weeks run then my side to side wall have dust algae growing...
I used quite a lot of Bacter AE in the past till we stop using them, they are actually probiotics and can be use for cleaning the guts, but anything that goes into the tank and not utilized turns into ammonia and then converting to nitrate. That nutrient imbalance will cause green wall. High PO4 and Nitrate.
Thanks for the information. I have green walls but they just appeared from using ada amazonia v1. I have bacter ae but I am unsure to use in my tanks. Do you recommend to use bacter ae?
@@grantmurphy7893 I think in small doses it is fine, but i don't see any correlation with using it long term and better health so as long as the feed you are feeding contains probiotics.
I saw a berried Dragon Blood in with some OEBT..are you cross breeding them? Dragon Bloods are incredibly hard to grow and keep a colony here in Australia. Any tips??
we don't focus on green wall at all, 95% of our tanks have no green wall as we also add in ramshorn snails to help clean it. we use the kallax ball to introduce biofilm, some use botanica like cattapa leaves.
@@ShrimpSanctuary I have had the same problem with neritina violacea, neritina pullligera and neritina variegata but never with neritina natalensis or clithon corona.
@@maravedi09 Thanks for sharing that, i do have issues after a while with clithon corona, they are really very hardworking snails, i love them. Maybe i can try Neritina natalensis, but they're a bit bigger. What is your tank pH?
Happy New Year! Green wall dont hurt and the issue is that you have put to much impotance and emphasis on it that it has not. I have 0ppm of all nitrogen even NO3! Managed by boosting plant growth. The thing were i thought that 0 ppm NO3 ment no need of water change. And i had reached that goal... There were a effect that i had not accounted for.. As having neocaradina i also added in smal amount leaf litter, a leaf per week only.. The NO3 were 0ppm but the degradering leaf tannins lowered tje Ph. So probably no leaf litter and 0ppm NO3 should mean no water change? If not anything else breaks that a regular water change would keept in check.😅😂 So leaf has a consequence if doing no water change. That could be neglectible in normal cases. (Neocaradina that do t want acid water..) Guess that the wite bio ball have the same effect. In short everything that goes in into the glas box will have consequences.❤

Hello Russian shrimp keepers and welcome back to my channel
Hi Bene what's your experience with bacter ae for example with biofilm and green wall?

such an interesting take on green walls. thanks for this video
What are those metal/aluminum grates holding the substrate?
They are stainless steel basket mesh, but you can use plastic as well
@ShrimpSanctuary do you have a link for the baskets?
@@jtm71 There are many vendors, so you can pick them by searching through the picture function. Price varies as well so is shipping.

Dragon Bloods are incredibly hard to grow and keep a colony here in Australia.
Any tips??
Dragon blood once established are very simple shrimps. a tip is they don't like low pH like crystal shrimps. They prefer the Tiger higher pH around 6
Très instructif 👍, merci beaucoup et bonne année 2025
Happy new year 2025!
All the best to you and your familly!!!
THanks! appreciate it, happy new year to you and your family!
Any thoughts on focusing on a stable tank promoting biofilm growth as opposed to a green wall? Any recommended methods for biofilm production?
