I was about to buy wagon r because of budget but end up buying tata tiago. Thoda jyada lage toh lage par safety se compromise nahi karna chahiye and i am really satisfied with the look and ride quality.

Our new tigor till now completed 32000kms. And running fine.
My friend's tigor completed 65000 + kms. And still performance is great .

You are lucky to get gud service support but all over india thats not the case. The new engines from 2016 are much better than old ones. But needs improvement in refinement.

Tiago is also coming in CNG.

Safety, highway stability, ride and handling is good in Tiago.
Engine performance and space is good in WagonR 1.2 not so much in 1.0
I am using wagonr zxi 1.2 l for last 2 years. I found the milege is 17 kmpl in city condition and 20 kmpl on highways even using AC. I drove it 200 km but there was no back pain. Cabin is spacious. Engine is smooth and refined I cant hear engine sound.I find it very comfortable family car as it provide ample space. My son even stand and dance inside it. I think this car is really good in city condition but in case of highway if Maruti suzuki use better metal sheets and fibre elements to make it more safer then there is no comparision with any Tata car. My relatives advised me not to buy TATA car as once problem occurs then this car will create trouble anywhere anytime also service centre is not available everywhere. TATA need to work a lot on it. Safer car is fine but if car engine and service is not upto mark then what is its utilization?

Wagon r is not a family car rather it's a cheap car. People can afford it. For family safety comes first then comes anything else. You have mentioned tata brand, so I must tell one thing , tata car quality has improved a lot. I own tata Tiago, satisfied customer. My car gives me confidence on highways, turns, breaking etc. Stability is top notch. Wagon R sucks.
Tata provides good build quality, safety and decent engine. Maruti provides worst build quality and safety and good engine.

Recently one Tigor car hit me from behind around 40kmph. My car was intact. I can share image. It also depends on position and angle on accident.

Im really sick n tired of idiots boosting about tata cars safety. Thats good but thats just one aspect of a car that one has to consider while purchasing. Tata will never have what maruti has achieved. Its like when hero n honda seperated no matter how many honda shines were sold they just never could come close to a splendor because we associate splendor with some values we consider important to us like reliability, mielage, resale, and spares availability. If you are so concious of safety buy a volvo..oh wait you cant afford it so u have to settle the second or third best option. That the same thing with maruti. Its not just the upfront cost when you buy but also money you spend in a period of 10 to 15 years on service n spares that you need to consider.

Won't recommend wagon r for highway because of poor stability and weak sheet metal
Because on highway there are large heavy vehicles moving at faster speed, so in case of any unfortunate incident, Tiago can take good amount of impact and keep the passengers safe

Tiago is 80k rupees expensive than wagon r in top end varients. That makes it a competitor to ignis and i10 nios. Now as per price wagon r is one segment lower than tiago. Even its 50k cheaper than santro.

Maruti Wagon R is a brilliant car.. have not personally driven but have been in one. It's very comfortable and a nice looking car. However not sure why Maruti is compromising on the raw material used to build their cars. I have seen other people's Maruti cars and the story is the same with all their other models too. The body is mostly crumpled and pressed as if all of them have been in an accident or struck a bus. It's a very sorry state of the way Maruti is building them. What's the use of compromising on the built quality with attractive design. Better charge a lakh extra than going the crooked way avoiding a margin of safety. They have great potential as their designs are unique. But I guess its no use crying over it. Hope Maruti realizes this soon before a large survey of people start noticing and avoiding them.

Ofcourse maruti is tincan. But Tata engine lagging behind suzuki's tried and tested naturally aspirated engine. If Tata make it's engine niggle free then Tiago will be segment leader for sure.
Half of the country moves around in what you call a tin can. I can challenge you if you have never ridden in a maruti till date. If you are so obsessed with tanks buy a jcb oh wait you cant afford the fuel costs. So shut up the fuck up n go ride a splendor.
Still the current tata engines can be trusted. It's not good but not bad either. Most important thing is the ride comfort, stability, safety and build quality. Tata has an edge over Maruti.
