Gvk theme godzilla fit the monsterverse godzilla aspect well in general. While the classic theme is fire, godzillas theme doesn't need changing simply because it's a different godzilla which has already chosen its well fitting soundtrack.
The problem is that Toho is very harsh with rights to their properties and to have any older track (or new track using the melody of an old one) play they need to buy a license for it, so if you wanted to have a full OST consisting of remade Akira Ifukube tracks, the budget would significantly increase. This is the same reason we didn't get any more classic Toho monsters in KoTM and got stuff like Behemoth and Methuselah instead. Really wish Toho was more lenient with all that stuff. No joke, right now Toho's the Disney of Kaiju movies...
This is REALLY better than the film version in some aspect ngl, and not just in nostalgic value. I got emotionally hyped in some moments where I didn't even bat an eye in the theater.

Love the Mothra chants, and always like the some of the shorter quick roars, grunts and yells Godzilla use to makes instead of occasional full roars, made it sound kinda like the were talking to each other like right here 1:39 like he's saying "oh yeah?!"
I'd love to have this fight scene but with just the KKVG theme. It would sound so good with the modern roars and SFX. Even with the showa sounds, the music definitely made this fight better.

The sound effects and use of the old _King Kong vs Godzilla_ music are fantastic; it puts a huge smile on my face whenever I watch this.
The old school Godzilla SFX sounds makes the movie scene a thousand times better!
The use of the ending theme from Ghidorah: The Three Headed Dragon makes Godzilla and Mothra’s reunion feel nice and sweet
i wish showa can still do a movie like this but in old school style.
