What is your fave camera + lens combo? (stuck on a desert island, it's all you have for the rest of your life) **also beware of scammers in the comments, I will not be messaging you on youtube**
I've been using my EOS M6 mark II with a Sigma 16-35. I use it for TV documentary work. That's it. Maybe an additional nifty fifty. I know this gear like the back of my hand.
Tbh I really don’t know, I have too many fave cameras but if I were to choose it would probably be my Canon 5D mkIV, it’s got everything I need (apart from in body image stabilization and a bunch of other stuff)
Loving my c70 with some vintage nikkor lenses or just a classic 24-70. Internal ND is just too important :). But I'm really honestly, currently my favourite is my original A7s with these cheap Pergear manual focus 35mm f1.4 lenses for photos of the kids lol. Don't forget you can technically buy a 49mm to 77mm or 82mm step up ring without needing to stack 7 or 8 or them. Like 10 bucks on Amazon :).
oh hi. youtube has done something strange and now the video is out of sync. my apologies. hoping this fixes itself soon as it wasn't like this always?!
No dodads, wingdings … just the gear you need to to be a successful film maker. So good to see so many new people on this channel! You deserve it Mark. AOD is the best ❤
You guys have been so amazing to upcoming filmmakers like myself. I’ve entered the contest as I’m in need to great gear. Thank you all for even giving us the opportunity! 🤞🏽
Finally popped into AOD a few months ago and have already been a part of a number of shoots with local AOD filmmakers. What a dope community for those of us just starting out!
I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the amazing content you're providing to the film community. Your videos are not only informative and educational but also incredibly uplifting and inspiring. As someone who is passionate about filmmaking, it's truly refreshing to see a channel that focuses not only on the technical aspects of the craft but also on the emotional and personal growth that comes with pursuing a creative endeavor. Your dedication to spreading positivity and encouragement is infectious, and I always feel motivated to tackle new projects after watching your videos. Thank you for all that you do to support and inspire the film community. Keep up the fantastic work!
I'm so excited to watch more of your videos to increase my documentary skills. I live in Eastern Kentucky where there are so many stories to tell, but not enough filmmakers such as myself in this area to bring these stories to life. Thanks for everything that you do, Mark!
Thanks for making storytelling more real, it's hard to find a genuiness in a industry that will ask you to give everything to it and give little back in return. You are a help to the people who love this the most. Thanks for inspiring me to tell more stories, and create constantly.
Looks like a hell of a setup, and the samples of footage used to create this giveaway video were perfect demonstrations. Entered and crossing my fingers!!
you guys are honestly such an inspiration to the film making community. no words for what the whole journey has pulled out of yourself and what youve pulled out of your followers. lifting eachother up like this is what its all about 🙏 thank you
Thank you for your immense contributions to the film community. Your dedication and hard work have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on the industry, and it is truly appreciated.
This channel has helped me with probably the most important aspect of filmmaking: the storytelling aspect. One of the few TH-cam channels that doesn’t always push gear as the answer to making good videos, hopeful to be the lucky winner but also hopeful for anyone that wins to get a chance to up their game or get their foot in the door of filmmaking.
AOD has been a game changer and helped me feel confident to chase down some big dreams! Recently returned from filming a short Documentary in Ukraine 🇺🇦! Mike and Mark are gifted communicators and passionate about getting you a top shelf course!
Nice! I entered the 1st giveaway but eventually learned more about AoD. Even without thinking about the gear giveaway, the knowledge itself when you join the live streams, watch the videos, get the modules is so invaluable and cost 50x more than any gear giveaway. What I appreciate about AoD is how it changed my perspective when I meet other people and hear their stories. I meet people from all walks of life begging their story to be told. I used to be passive about it and would just listen but after AoD helped open my eyes, I am empowered to create the story. It won't be nominated for awards or Oscars, but the visceral impact it has to that person and the people around them solidifies the story and legacy. Thanks AoD for opening my eyes and for teaching the knowledge on how to create these documentaries. More power to you and the team!
So glad I found you and this channel Mark. In murky waters of a late bloomer filmmaker, you make it possible to see some clarity and hope on the horizon. I'm very excited about AOD. A spark has been lit! Thank you again!
Man you`re the legend! It's incredible how much you give, for FREE! So much knowledge, so many little inputs. It would be an understatement that you've influenced me as a filmmaker just a little bit, you did a whole ton! Whenever I'm going for a project, the first one I'm going to for tips is your channel. I'm so stoked on the AOD Courses as well and once I get some more jobs going (which is in the making) I definitely want to join it and be a part of this awesome community of storytellers you've created. Thanks again Mark for everything and big greetings from germany!:) I think you inspire people all over the world. PS: Wouldn't say no to trading my old trusty but very rusty A7III for that tiny but very shiny FX3! :P
How do things like this happen when you need it the most ?! I just want to say this is invaluable what you guys are doing. I mean, literally, making dreams possible. The fact you're giving access to knowledge and gear. My mind is blown, and thank you for pushing the community aspect because you can even share this equipment to help film your buddies' projects!
Wow, this was such a great video! I really loved the camera rig you used, it captured the shots so beautifully. You are truly an inspiration, thank you for sharing your expertise with us!
What I would miss from that set-up is the best accessory ever for the FX3: the handle extension (MD3490 Smallrig part number) Not only doest it add length for a better grip, but also adds a NATO rail on top, which is in mi opinion better than that magic arm that Mark uses, as you can use a Monitor Mount like the 2906 that can be adjusted with friction.. so you can adjust the angle on the monitor on the fly, with one hand, very quickly.. no need to unscrew anything... Also, you can adjust the position of the monitor itself on the rail, to have it more to the front..
As a filmmaker who loves documentary filmmaking, a setup like this would be game changing for me. I tell the behind the scenes stories of life on the road for different bands, love capturing unique stories of exceptional individuals, and have even made a documentary about a dog that was rescued from a dog fighting ring in Dubai. Definitely entering this contest!
Documentary itself represents a natural, organic way of cinema, despite all this types of camera gear and equipment, we can shoot documentary and that’s it, because we feel it, we love it. Of course a good setup will help you achieve the image and the mood you want, I would say a good solid setup for my work would be a fx6 A cam and a fx3 B cam with 2 zoom lenses, a 10-18 and a 24-70 and minimum a prime, for example a helios 44 is such underrated but an amazing vintage lens! I recommend for anyone to learn and watch Werner Herzog’s movies, especially the documentaries because he learned something that is beyond cinema itself, is about pure emotion, a way of experiencing a story and how to style everything up. I am from Romania and I also want to recommend this Documentary for everyone out here, “Black Buffalo Water” 1977. This represents the beginning of documentary in Romania for me! Good luck everyone and hope to see more documentaries soon, from everyone!
@@markbone such an amazing piece of art. I’m still a bit upset that he is not notorious enough yet! Another great scene is in grizzly man, when he listen to the tape, and all the building before and after that scene. That’s cinema! Best of luck and hope to see better and better video, as you got us used until now!
You guys are a massive inspiration to myself and the rest of the community. Thank you all for everything and I can't wait to join the program. I am currently working on my first doc and have 3 more in the planning stages. I don't think you guys know how much you've actually helped us out.
Just enrolled in Module One so excited to start learning from you and Michael, my film journey starts today and I'm setting off as a complete beginner. Picking up this kit would be sensational! Thank you so much for inspiring me, and I'm delighted to now be part of your filmmaking community.
FX6 and the 24mm GM have never let me down on the job, but I'm really enjoying the 14mm GM and cropping to widescreen 2:1 aspect ratio lately, especially if I know I'll be doing any documentary style filming in an indoor location like a home or bedroom and plan on finishing the project in widescreen!
Your channel has helped me sooooo much! I've been making the switch from black magic cameras to Sony and have been really loving it. The auto focused has helped on so many shoots when I can't get an AC. I'm renting the fx3 for a project this week and this video is so helpful. Congrats on AOD!
I was looking for a good setup for documentary-style shooting and came across this. I'm a military photographer, but recently got into video so now I'm looking into gear that will help me better capture the action and military training in the field. I've been running and gunning with my DSLR since I started shooting video so I think it's about time to get a grip/cage to make the footage a little smoother. This setup is nice because it's not too excessive or over encumbering especially when you're running around capturing the moment.
You guys are freaking amazing for all the knowledge you share and all the things you give away. Thank you for everything and can't wait to see you when doors open in AOD!
NO WAY you're giving away that dream setup!! I've recently dipped my toes into filmmaking and recording the car scene here in Michigan and still practicing with slog color grading on my camera. After a year of car photography and getting into filming it's literally a whole new world I can discover. keep up the great work though and drop more banger videos!!
Found you through Peter, but this channel has been invaluable to me. I've been making films for years, but there's just so much quality information in each video you put out. And now a giveaway? Incredible.
I've had my eye on the Sony FX3 for a while, the kit that you've put together looks so nimble. I also agree that on camera LCD monitors are rubbish, especially outdoors. Nothing like seeing your reflection staring back at you whilst your trying to get frame and focus 🤣
Your channel is one of the most inspiring filmmaker channels on TH-cam. Love your relaxed and engaging way of sharing extremely helpful tips. Your advice has made me tell much better stories, I know this video focuses on a amazing set up but your channel has help me do better on any set up and most importantly focusing on a telling better stories, most by having a more structure game plan before going into a shoot. You deserve all the success you've gotten and more. Looking forward to learning more from you this year!
I am really interested in learning more about the bracket you are using for the monitor mount. Couldn't find it on SmallRig, but it looks very cool. Thank you in advance.
Just entered the giveaway. You guys are incredible and I’m so glad to have gotten to watch part of your journey! Congratulations and good luck on your next adventure!!
Just dropping a message that you channel has been a lot of help so far. Thanks for doing what you're doing and giving new film makers a chance to kickstart their business with awesome gear!
New to your channel Mark but that looks like the best run n gun/docu set up money could buy right now! I make videos on an a6300 and SEL18-200 so this would be a crazy difference. Big respect from Scotland cant wait to see what is to come next in the series!
Excited to have discovered your channel! Use to love using the GH4 with a vintage Pentax Super Takumar 50mm. The sensor turned it into a really nice portrait lens with great character.
Amazing of you to give away your set up . But what I enjoy the most is the education and advice your channel provides to calm my uncertainties while inspiring me to refine my skills as a filmmaker. Thanks again Mark
Nice setup. Just finished building a similar rig with my Lumix S5. SmallRig Black Mamba Cage with Top Handle, Rode VideoMic Pro, NATO Side Handle, Helios 44M-4 and a Ninja 5.2" recording monitor. Crazy to see that the following for the Helios has only gotten stronger in the last 10 years.
Hello, first of all, thank you very much for the opportunity to have this amazing combo to film! And if I'm not lucky enough to have it, I hope that the person who wins will use it to shoot very nice documentaries, short films or other things, because it's a very versatile camera.
I really enjoy my one and only camera it is a GH4 with a nifty fifty. I am trying to get into documentary film and this would sure help out. Thank you for the great content.
Wow this is awesome such a great give away! We learned so much from your TH-cam video's as amateur film makers. Especially to just go out there and try it. That you don't 100 lenses to make a nice film. Thanks for the inspiration! We entered the competition, good luck to everyone who joins to inspire us with awesome film 😍
Is it weird that I started salivating as I saw this kit??🤤🤤 It's such a perfect and gorgeous kit, especially for someone who doesn't even have a camera. You guys are doing some great things with this platform, and I can't wait to see more.
I'm really grateful to have found this channel. This seems like an amazing opportunity, and I've never won a contest before, so I'm hopeful that luck will be on my side this time. Thank you, Mark!
These days I like the Meike mini cine lenses with the bmpcc 4k. The whole thing could be clunky, I need extra v-mounts batteries, a monitor, but I still love the color science. I am based in Japan so no way I could attend your academy, but still wanted to say that I really like your channel. Honest, to the point, and not peddling gears or luts like others I won’t name here. 😊 Looking forward to more making of, bts kind of things. Maybe something about color and the chromatic circle maybe? Playing with the fx30 these days, I don’t mind the cropped sensor that much tbh.
It is true in many fields that less is more. It is the old idea that limitations breed creativity. Going gear crazy gets in the way of doing, in so many areas of life.
best giveaway i've ever seen on youtube 🤩 like i'm actually looking for money to get a first fullframe camera (lumix s5 II or A7SIII) to tell my stories but FX3 will be so much cooler.
What is your fave camera + lens combo? (stuck on a desert island, it's all you have for the rest of your life) **also beware of scammers in the comments, I will not be messaging you on youtube**

I use one step up from whatever diameter my lens is to 82mm
I have many different lenses and filter sizes so it helps remain flexible
Popped up on my feed and so glad it did! Seems like a great community to be involved with. Entered to win fingers crossed 🤞
wow...what a nice give away! I already purchased Module 1 of AOD and I can't wait for Module 2.

🥰
Fingers crossed. Literally a game changer of a kit! *crosses fingers and toes*
Is it weird that I started salivating as I saw this kit??🤤🤤 It's such a perfect and gorgeous kit, especially for someone who doesn't even have a camera. You guys are doing some great things with this platform, and I can't wait to see more.
Thank you for all your inspiration and continuing sharing your great vids. Greetings from Costa Rica. 👍🏻📸☕☀️🌋🏝🌴🌊
Would still go with the c70 over the FX3 for those internal NDs, internal raw, and better dynamic range without noise reduction.
Thank you so much for your contributions to
the film community.
cool cool💥 it's a great thing ya'll doing. been gathering budget gears myself to bring folktales alive again from a corner of Tribal world .
Great video Mark - thanks so much for this oppurtunity.
Focus on story. The most underrated, but the most important, advice for all the filmmakers. Thanks
I'm really grateful to have found this channel. This seems like an amazing opportunity, and I've never won a contest before, so I'm hopeful that luck will be on my side this time. Thank you, Mark!
@ 5:45 it looks like warp stabilizer (clouds wiggle). Is that in post of from the camera stabilization?
or from... not of
my fav cam combo would be the fx3 + 16-35. heavy, but oh so pretty
Awesome work y’all have been doing! Since I started my journey I have been watching your videos! You are very helpful and inspiring, thank you 🙏
These days I like the Meike mini cine lenses with the bmpcc 4k.
Playing with the fx30 these days, I don’t mind the cropped sensor that much tbh.
th-cam.com/video/SLG6Q2y9R14/w-d-xo.html (I know, too much slow motion haha)
Our academy is online and the videos are accessible 24/7 so it doesn’t matter where you are in the world
It is true in many fields that less is more. It is the old idea that limitations breed creativity. Going gear crazy gets in the way of doing, in so many areas of life.
Maybe this time ... 👀 Good luck everyone!
13.03 will be here soon. Good luck to everyone!!
Very dope, I just found this page today. I'll be tuning in for more.
Amazing content. Learning so much through the channel as a newbie videographer. Interested to see where AOD is going.
Hope to see you a part of AOD!
Incredible giveaway! You are rockstars!
best giveaway i've ever seen on youtube 🤩 like i'm actually looking for money to get a first fullframe camera (lumix s5 II or A7SIII) to tell my stories but FX3 will be so much cooler.
