Well done mate. Great time too. I finished at 9:30 just as it got dark. Ditchling is a beast when you’ve been on your feet for over 10 hours. Onwards and up and up and upwards.
Wow!! Awesome Howard!!! Great inspiration.... Really impressive... Loved watching this lovely video. Family meet in between is so nice & motivational. Best wishes! God Bless!
Wooo well done! 😁 The first video I've seen of it so far! Impressive time!!
Awesome! Congrats on the achievement and thanks for taking us along on your journey.
Just did this at the weekend x
Thanks for that video! And congratulations!
Great video and great time! I did this as well, finished at 11pm so it's nice to see what the route after Plumpton College looks like in the light 😂
Well done on finishing and I imagine Ditchling Beacon is even more challenging in the dark. Did you choose to start at 8am or was that your allocated time?
@@howardsway101 Allocated time. It suited me as I travelled in on the day. I also hoped to finish earlier but massively underestimated the second half!
@@CraigRowand , I also travelled up on the day and didn’t appreciate the full elevation in the second half. I was glad for the 6.40am start but just presumed that was standard for all the runners, hence why I asked.
@@howardsway101 I think we were spread out through the first few hours. I finished with a guy that started at 9. I think the walkers were also spread as we passed loads all morning.
Great job! I attempted this at the weekend but the hills between oaks park and Henshaw farm destroyed my hip.
Hope you have a speedy recovery and get to have another try at this event. The hills between Tulleys Farm and Ardingly get even worse, plus Ditchling Beacon is just brutal. Keep running!
Howard, please add the total duration of the Marathon in the description.
Second time I’ve watched this. Really enjoyed it. I’ll be trying it in 18 days time. They looked like road shoes - what were you wearing and what would you recommend? Cheers
I did run in road shoes (Asics DS Trainers) as they were my preferred shoe that I've run in for many years without issue, indeed on this run I didn't get any blisters!. If the conditions are dry and you have a pair of well trusted road shoes then I think it's a good option, especially as there's quite a bit of road in the first half. In 2022 it was very dry and hot so I also found changing socks every 25km'ish a good idea plus using kientic tape on any potential rub areas (arch of foot, shoulders if wearing a hydration vest etc). It's a great race and really well marshalled - good luck and enjoy it.
@@howardsway101 thanks so much for your reply really appreciate it 👍
Well done! Looking to do this 2025.. how would you rate the signage.. did you ever feel lost at all?
Signage was excellent and I only went off course once and only for a few hundred metres. My advice, if you get to a turning and don’t see any sign then just check you’re on the right track as there normally always is one!
It was very signed , just did the weekend, the only thing I would say there was not enough good to fuel you from 3rd stop to 4th xx
Hi Howard. I’d love to chat to you about this sometime to pick your brain as I’m looking to enter next year. Is there a way of getting in contact? Thanks 🙏
Hey am hoping to get in this year as we speak on own individual basis having already done the TCS London Marathon already on 23rd of April 23. 😂🎉😅😊
