London and Diesel's - likely to be DPF related. I remember when diesel's hit 500k miles with only 6000 mile oil changes, now they barely make 80k. That is evolution for you.
For some reason cars invoke an uncharacteristic dishonesty level in people.
The Yaris was definitely not a scrapper, but many people are ignorant or have been ripped off by bad garages.
Kev another quality video! You had me chuckling throughout - especially the "one extreme to the other" with the house numbers😆Brutal luck with the misdescribed vehicles, but at least you got a beaut of a Transit in the end! Safe travels back to the yard and enjoy that well-deserved cuppa. ☕

Love to now the back story on the Transit. It was mint. Even if you had to pay a couple of grand on repairs it would of been worth keeping.

My guess would be DPF and EGR issues, wet belt problems and injector failure. Just like all the other transits from the last 10 years.

it might need expensive repairs though
68 plate transit with 70 odd thousand miles on it ,looked like someone looked after it and smoked liked Thomas the tank engine,could be an injector fault famous for it happening or could be a turbo fault but looked worth saving and hope it goes onto the auction site and someone gets a really good van with some life left in it coz that’s still worth some money and defo worth saving

Hi Kev . I had similar inspections with export cars on pick up & delivery at the docks in London Liverpool etc . Scratches dents . No pictures just written comments. I think you should grab that transit a beauty .

I'm always surprised how many people make no effort to tidy the car. I scrapped a VW Transporter with Trents that had spent a decade as a garden shed and it got a wash! And a garage gven the wrong keys... did you have a look at what you could have snaffled?

Them new Transits don't seem very reliable once they hit about 5 years old. Quite a few seems to go bang after that.

It does surprise me the age of some of the vehicles going to scrap, obviously can only be down to poor maintenance and not staying on top of repairs. No way should 10yr old vehicles be going to scrap.
Probably terrible maintenance as my grandad has an 06 berlingo he got new and it barely has an issue while I see 3 year old cars going to a scrapyard

can a HGV driver carry load inside cab?
I was fully loaded the other day and had no more room, boss asked me to carry 2 hydraulic tanks inside cab, he was insisting it's legal but I doubt it.

I would of refused on health and safety grounds, if you were to have and accident anything in the cab could become a missile causing harm to the driver.

A lot of the vehicles that you've been collecting on your recent videos aren't even all that old.
That’s what I was thinking, but sadly cars are treated as disposable items by most people who just run them into the ground and scrap them.
So many people treat cars as white goods, carry out lots of short journeys where they could easily walk, its death to a motor car engine
And dont clean them or pay for service
My local garage fails so many like this at mot time
I do lots of short journeys, can't really help it with where I live and what I need the car for and only cover about 5- 6k miles a year but I have my car religiously serviced (every year a major service, no minor or interim services) and MOT' ed every 12 months (July), if it gets an advisory in the MOT or they mention something in the service, I get it done without fail and if it needs something in-between, it also gets done without fail.

Every pint of petrol you burn generates a pint of water in the combustion process
That mixes with the oil to form an emulsion that resembles mayonnaise
It's an acid,and eats bearings,and destroys exhaust systems
My car has done 180k in 12 years and sails through emissions, has a full service history,and if I do any short journeys,I bang it up the motorway
Most journeys in town I walk or cycle,keeps me nice and fit, at 65 I am way fitter than most of the youngsters round here
Most of these cars are not that old shocking the amount of 14 & 15 plate cars going scrap that Peugeot is only 10 years old

have you ever been sold a vehicle from an owner and told to pick it up from a garage and arrived and the garage won't release it as there is money owing on it

Surprised they paid that for the transit I offered them my 2019 SsangYong Korando and the cheeky buggers offered me £650
Notice how the closer you get to London the more inaccurate the vehicle descriptions get😂 chancers everywhere 👍

MODERN transit 80 k . LOL NEED the wet/ cam belt changed . WHAT JOKER came up with ideal WET CAM belts ????.
The problematic wet belts are only on the 1 litre ecotec engines, this had injection issues
@@KevTee 2.0 Ecoblue diesel is actually wet belt as well Kev! 😊

@@KevTee To be fair it's quite widely documented for those 2.0 ecoblue wetbelts to cause problems as well, but yes like you say, it's the 1.0 petrol that have the worst reputation 😁
@@KevTee MATE got 2017 plate 2.0 litre transit diesel . WET belt . LEAST my ford back in day 1.8tdi turbo diesel kerosene bio diesel . . did 260.000 miles DIED TIN WORM ROT , Change cam belt kit every 40/ 50. 000 miles inc water pump , DRY belt go on for ever . LIKE 1.6/ 2.0 OHC PINTOS from 1970s / 1980s . dry belts / SAFE trucking . ENJOY .
I took it these were end of life cars
