It is not working for me. I thought that the fact that my image was "In line with text" was preventing me from selecting both using Ctlr and click but even changing the wrapping to tight did not all Ctrl click to select both even though a little plus appears next to the cursor.
thanks. the "in line with the text option" was driving me mad. i couldn't find why i couldn't select them both

Thank you so much! I figured out that on a PC, we use the Shift button, whereas on a Mac, it's the command button.
Previously, I'd kept trying to group them together by just clicking on each text box and on the image, but they can't be selected all together UNLESS I follow the steps you've included. Very helpful!!
