Omny (tap to pay) has been in service in NY for a year already. But yeah, definitely need a huge improvement with NY subway system. First is really educating the public about common courtesies and littering.
1200 km is 1 Mach, an above-average cruise speed of a Gen 3 fighter jet. The safety issue would be a massive concern because if anything happens, its consequences would be like you would face in the air. I wouldn't placed my bet on it, I would rather more gear toward the high speed train on top of the ground. The gimmick is there though.
