I've learned that the hard way several times.
I invited a boy to join our lunch table cuz he was eating g alone. He then started hitting on me and my other friend in front of our boyfriends, invited my boyfriend over to his house to play hide and seek tag with knives, and showed up to my sweet 16 dressed like a cowboy and gave me a bear bracelet. He then asked me why I wasn't wearing the bracelet every single day for the rest of the year.
We called him creepy Austin, and he was probs the most non-threatening weirdo I've associated with, but dang, should have left him alone at that lunch table.

Growing up as a weirdo and being picked on and bullied, I never wanted to make someone else feel ostracized like I was. But as a woman, and as i grew up and had a "glow up" i realized some men will take my kindness as an opening to pursue some sexual engagement. My inner child cant sit back and watch as someone is treated as an outsider, i feel compelled to step in and be a person i wish I had in my life. But as a woman it is also dangerous; 99 weird dudes could be just that, weird, but there is always that 1 guy that acts like because you smiled at them or engaged in a pleasant way that they can push your boundaries. And when you pull back and tell them your not interested like that, they lose their shit.

Agreed. Very impressed; not only by the extra news footage of him going on and on, no one else has shown this. No one else had delved into Lauren's character. A real treasure these days that a beautiful woman, that is smart and busy....open her life up to try to give someone else the confidence they need in life; and that she tried to include him. Her true feelings that someone was in her home. I do the things that she would do; but it always comes to bite me in the ass. I know that one day someone is just going to haul off and murder me. Not only has it already been attempted....and just because I don't want to see people left out. Its dangerous and NOT a random strangers responsibility. I also didn't see all the extra interrogation.....this case is like an onion. The layers just peel back...over and over. This case, I have watched over and over and will continue to. Apparently there were parts to this people wanted to wrap up. I see no reason to get to the bottom of it. I mean just because Lauren wasn't married with children and a big house, and a husband having an extra marital affair ~ JUST BECAUSE that wasn't the case, I feel that things were just wrapped up and closed down. The media didn't find it enough to continue pounding it into the ground , like the Watts Case. I think its just as much important. The poor woman wouldn't have even done anything but move away.

Yes, I agree that this video was well researched and it presented information that wasn’t included in other videos. I have seen maybe 4 or 5 other true crime channels cover this, they all did a fine job, but just didn’t delve into the personality and backstory of the victim and the perp. Well done! The video of him being interviewed by the news was disturbing to say the least, it was even creepier when I saw the long version included in this video. This guy is a really weird dude. It’s not clear what can really be learned, except maybe that it’s not safe to befriend everyone. If everyone in your life is telling you that you need to be careful about a weirdo neighbor, it’s maybe good to listen to them. But, I mean, this guy had stolen a key, was regularly stalking and peeping, and developed an obsession, it’s not clear that there was anything she really could have done to prevent this. Very sad indeed.

Especially with all the stuff leading up to it. I was a single mom with 2 daughters and a maintenance guy was coming in my apartment. It is the most nerve wracking situation. I could literally smell when he had been there. My instincts became so heightened when my daughter got out of bed in the middle of the night, the sound of her feet touching the floor would wake me up. I ended bringing both my daughters to sleep with me at night and I put a hook n eye on the bedroom door, knowing the sound would wake me up and with my kids already there I was shooting through the door. I kept the hallway light on so I could see under the door the dark spot if there was anyone there. I had my concealed carry permit because I worked for a controversial politician. I started carrying a gun everywhere just for my return home. I would have one of the girls unlock the door and go in first secretly holding a gun in both hands behind them, blocking the basement door with my foot covering the steps and the front door. Something was about to happen, I could feel it. I'm so glad we got out in time. If I didn't have kids I'm sure I would have handled it alot like Lauern Giddings.

Anything you do can either provoke some weird lust or anger. Like do you greet them or not to keep the peace. When their gaze meets you do you nod and smile or use a resting bitch face. Their is no winning with these creeps. I do have to say since ive stopped being kind to strangers and stopped trusting men as friends ive no longer been graped, attacked, stalked or anything else. I made it very clear I lived with my partner. After a few weeks he asked me on a date so I reminded him I had a boyfriend and apologised. The next day and every day after for a week he got off the bus at my stop and followed me toward home. I had to just keep walking so he wouldn't know where I lived until I could get someone to pick me up or I'd keep looping the same street so he'd give up. I didn't know what to do because I was scared if I antagonised him he might do something. I ended up stopping at the doors of the bus and said out loud If you get off and follow me again I'm calling the police and pressing charges. He didn't get off. Needless to say I changed buses. There's no harm in being nice, well... not nice, agreeable. BUT I always say to trust your instincts. You know yourself, you know if something is just your mind doing what your mind does or if it's something different. For Lauren that something was unusual, and she did the right thing, she acted upon it by installing that door jammer thing. And it wasn't enough. What would YOU have done? You would think that if you secure your place, the place is secure, wouldn't you? It's a tragedy. I would have felt I did enough to be safe. I would have thought that the only thing that can happen is the house sinking into a hole, the roof collapsing or being bombed or hit by a meteor or idk. What the hell can happen? I can get shot through a window I guess. Someone has put a hitman on my 4SS.... but that's thinking on a bit of a crazy side. It could happen but then anything can happen. And... it did. Wtf. There is always hindsight with these heartbreaking cases but being 100% reasonable when it would have saved a life was exactly what took place. Not everyone has two apartments they can run between. And who knows whether doing that would have done anything because there was the stalking. Does anyone know of more reasonable precautions that should have been put in place that would have saved Lauren? Honestly.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if he did have an actual disassociative psychotic break down, he would either answer none of the questions, or all of them would be given simmilar one word answers. For Steven, as soon as the questions move away from the subject of what he did to Lauren, he's able to speak full sentences again. What a fucking miracle.

Some ladies learn the ultra hard way with the incel/nice guy breed. It's how they're wired. It goes far beyond "not being able to get chicks", it's a motherboard-installed personality trait, and there's no fixing them. Always be skeptical, always have a back up plan, always record if you feel uncomfortable and spidy senses are tingling, be aware of your surroundings, invest in cameras if you feel in your bones that someone is entering your space. Do a 6-month to year de-bugging of home if you feel one of the vermin planted a hidden camera. Set traps, and stay strapped. You just never know. Sure, some may see it as paranoid, but guess what? Your chances of staying alive increase. Thats the real, truly scary part of this case. You can't just assume every weirdo is going to be like this guy. Yet people like this guy DO exist. It seems like in most cases its usually the lack of kindness and respect that drives a person like him to do such horrific things to people. But in his case, it was the exact opposite. She gave him kindness and respect freely and willingly, without expectations, because it was simply in her nature to be that way. She more than likely thought nothing of it, and it was likely no different than the way she interacted with evryone her path crossed thru out the course of a day...gas station clerks..mail man..waiters..the lady cashier in the check out aisle at the grocery store..the person folding their clothes next to her at the laundromat..etc. Who would ever think for an instant that kind of thing would get a person stalked and murdered? Typically it wouldnt..but for some reason it did in this case. It's very strange, and the complete randomness of it is frightening. Its incredibly sad that fate had put this guy in her life, and her kind nature ended up being the very thing that triggered his obsession, and put her in his sights..while in any other case it would have been a lack of kindness and respect.

I’m not bragging but my wife is extremely attractive and since the day we started dating guys always stare at her and try to pretend they’re not. When I’m not there she gets ogled way more and hit on constantly. I’m not a jealous person and my wife ignores it for the most part and just raises her hand with her wedding ring and says sorry. That being said, she says there have only been a few times she’s felt really uncomfortable as opposed to just annoyed in her entire life. Most men don’t have twisted intentions and only a ridiculously small percentage of men do what this scumbag did. They should all be tied down and let any family or friends of the victim do whatever they want for as long as they want in my opinion. Same for child molesters. Rewatching this interrogation and it’s so interesting how he tries to portray insanity. Even with the monotony and apathy in his voice he’s still strategic and logical with what he remembers and the questions he chooses to actually answer vs “I don’t know”. Very telling

Watching the interrogation is unsettling. He is a f*ing weirdo. He wouldn't shut up when he was talking to the camera. How long was that interview!? It went on and on. He wanted everyone to think they were so close and part of the same friend group, constantly saying "we". He sure had a lot of information about her and her daily movements for a neighbor that hadn't seen her in 3 weeks.
P.S. I hope that rediculous appeal is reason enough to deny him parole for the rest of his life.

The interview with the reporter was like an interrogation too. Can you imagine if he was innocent and her really close friend and was being asked question after question about every little possible thing by thiem. Listen again, it's so incredibly annoying how she asks question after question and he gives long detailed answers. It's horrific to listen to.

He is just so creepy. I can’t imagine her fear when he was hurting her. He’s so horrible. You described Stephan as tidy and well organized but his apartment was not at all.

Having been an awkward type of guy like him before in my life I have never ever thought to be as disgustingly possessive towards another person like that.
Instead I treasure the people like Lauren in my life who showed me kindness and helped me out of my shell.... LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN DOES. Thankfully I'm doing great these days.

Bro was probably doomed from the start. Was a freak who blamed everyone around him. And watched CP. not your typical weirdo who’s awkward.

This video is posted on many channels, but this is the only channel that told about the plan he shared about how he would act if interrogated. Great job!!!

What makes me so angry and sad about this case is how preventable it really was. After the master key was stolen, the property manager should have immediately changed all locks on the premises and revoked any access to that key. A simple camera also would have alerted Lauren of that presence she felt. Her gut and intuition were so spot on. She could have stayed with a friend or family member until her lease was up. All could of, would of, should of at this point. 😔 RIP Lauren, you really did not deserve this.
