Oh yeah! A shit ton of Black producers AND choreographers in Kpop. I love it so much! On an amusing note, there's actually been a couple of times where someone would say something about C.A. in Kpop lyrics only to find out the person who produced and wrote the English parts for said song is Black. The line is super fine these days.
So... K-pop isn't a music genre, it's what Yoongi has labeled "fusion music." What this means is they feel free to sample from all music genres creating an artistic amalgam. If you really know your music genres, and you listen closely to K-pop songs, you can hear multiple genres in just one song. It's amazing and, I think, the logical next step in the evolution of music. So let those gospel choirs sing!

Ateez wrote this song for Atinys on 11/17 on our 2nd anniversary. It’s to celebrate our uniqueness and individuality. Interesting that you equate this to a choir song. I never thought of it that way. 👍

First off Sébastine, if u didn't you were ATINY before this song....I can honestly say...you are now!!! Welcome!!!
And I just wanted to give you some info that might help....I loved the fact that you got surprised about the producers....here's the thing, when k pop started back in the 90's, Japan also began their modernized version of their music. Now Japan's music is based off American Rock N Roll, check out ONEOKROCK (said like One OK Rock), their songs are amazing BTW, I suggest "WE ARE," or "Stand Out, Fit in." And don't get me wrong, Japan has a lot of Hip Hop songs as well, but they lean very much towards Rock and roll.
Now in Korea on the other hand is very much based off American Hip Hop/R&B. The biggest reason for this is SM. It has been said that when he listened to American Hip Hop for the first time in the 90's that was the type of music he wanted to do with his company. So Mr. Lee did the only thing he could think of, he called around and asked if their were any Hip hop producers who wanted to come to Korea to help them out. And he found one...actually one of the best, and a name you may recognize. The producer was none other than Teddy Riley. Now if I am correct, and if I am not, please correct the time line, anyone. Around the time that Teddy went to Korea, was after he and the others of Blackstreet created a new sound called New Jack Swing. And the song "No Diggity" was born. Teddy stayed in Korea for several years, producing some of SM's most popular songs of the 2nd generation. Songs from Shinee, Girls Generation, and TVXQ. From there he taught others there what to do and he brought over other producers he knew to keep it all going. Now as far as I know Teddy is back in Vegas. But his influence is still in k pop. I know you have heard NCTU's song "90's Love." I wouldn't be surprised if Teddy had a hand in it...since you can clearly hear on the song, "Poison," by BBD, and a whole lot of that New Jack Swing sound.
Teddy's touch was far and wide in the k pop world...I think it's one of the reasons why I was drawn to k pop...they use a lot of techniques of old school Hip hop. What I grew up on and a whole lot of other ppl as well.
