- 🎣 Team Squidward's Cardiff Bay Fishing Adventure! 🚤
Team Squidward embarked on an epic journey to Cardiff for the 46th Open Cod Competition, representing Lowrance. We hit the road with Squidward and our buddy Will, cruising in convoy for a 3-hour drive filled with anticipation.
Cardiff welcomed us with open arms, offering complimentary launch and berthing. After slipping our boats into the water, we enjoyed a fantastic meal at the impressive club house overlooking the bay, gearing up for a Saturday morning practice fishing session.
Navigating unfamiliar waters, we relied on our trusty HDS Lowrance equipment, using sea charts and down scan sonar to scout the perfect fishing spots. Saturday's weather was a dream, and despite a few hiccups with tides and wrecks, we explored different locations, reeling in plenty of fish but alas, no Cod.
Back at port, we joined fellow Lowrance ambassadors, forming plans and sharing stories. Sunday's early start brought a change in weather, but a hearty English breakfast fuelled our spirits. The competition began with a dramatic shotgun start at 8 am, leading us to various marks near Barry Island.
Despite a valiant effort, Cod remained elusive throughout the day. Returning to Cardiff Bay Barrage, we shared tales with other competitors. Lowrance ambassador Jason Williams stole the show with a 5.05kg Cod, securing the trophy and a £1000 prize.
The evening's presentation at Cardiff Bay Yacht Club was a culmination of camaraderie and sportsmanship. We hitched up Squidward, heading home under the midnight sky, grateful for the warm welcome and hospitality. A big thanks to Cardiff Bay Yacht Club for the invitation - mark our calendars; we're already counting down to next year's adventure! 🏆🚤

Brilliant vid and well done to all who took part in testing conditions, only spoilt by anouncing the winners first, should always be minor placings first, leading up to the announcement of the winners at the end of proceedings so that the winners then finish off by thanking e everyone for the day.
Great video again really enjoyed it. But I’m glad I stayed home lol. Looked quite a miserable day. Unlucky with the eels they really feel like cod at times. Maybe catch you out there next year 👍
Great Video!!! I'm moored up in cardiff bay myself still new to all of this lol only had my boat for 4 months still haven't gone out to sea yet I'm crapping myself over it but can't wait to get comfortable with going threw the locks and have some great adventures
Thanks for the feedback, you will be fine, if you have never been in the lock I would consider contacting one of the charter boats and ask them for some support, suggestions, they were all super helpful for us. Take care and have some safe adventures. 💙
Typical Cardiff weather but at least the cod showed well done to all that took part tight lines and a smooth sea crack on
