I have a '69 Charger R/T and whenever a ricer rolls up, the driver usually gives me props and says "nice car". I do the same when I see a bad ass import. This happens quite frequently, but for some reason, when people get on social media, they get super confrontational, angry and even hateful. I like bad ass cars regardless of the year they're made or what country they're from. Not everything has to be so fucking negative.
American Muscle is meant to be strong, it could be modified to be fast but in reality it was meant to be what it's called.. " Muscle".. Fact: Hondas, Toyotas, anything made in Japan is a toy that can be modified.. without modification or tweeking, they are normal everyday cars. Ford, Chevy, Dodge make real muscle, even without modifying it.. Meaning you can buy stock and maintain stock and stock will last forever without breaking your pocket..

Here is how it breaks down, imports are usually cheaper to buy off the bat but cost way more to soup up while Muscle Cars cars more off to bat to drive but cost way less to soup up. Imports are better at handling and fuel economy but cost more to modify and repair while Muscle cars are better at generating raw power for less and don't handle as well but do dominate the strait line.

Why are these people racing Civics? -Well, they are dirt CHEAP. You can get a decent Civic, with moderate mileage, around $5,000-$8,000. This is the range for a used Civic with around 50,000 or so miles, but these look like 90s Civics, so they are probably even less than $5,000. -More customizabilty than any other car out there. Go look up body work, tuning, etc and the Civic is easily the most widely avaiable car to tune and do body work on. -Cheap maintenace. Muscle cars are expensive to maintain. Civics will eventually break down, but are very cheap to fix up. -High reliability. Imports last longer and can take more miles than American cars. Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc are consistently rated top reliability. -Easy to tune. People have told me the import engines are super easy to fix up and tune. Unless if you have a lot of money, not willing to put in as much work for your car, etc, then I guess a muscle car is the bettet choice. I am American btw and totally think imports are superior.

A lot of the horse power numbers for these cars were advertised LOWER, so the insurance companies wouldn't raise rates. So, get your FACTS straight. tfeverfred I am by no means a ricer, but I do drive a Toyota Celica. It is however a true Celica not one of these newer GT-S bullshit ones. It's a '77 GT coupe. I've completely modified it and I'm not a ricer I am a tuner. There is a huge difference between a tuner and a ricer. The main being that I understand that if I have a V-Tech engine I'm not going to put a turbo on it because when that V-Tech kicks in it's just overlapping what the turbo would do and make both basically useless. Not everyone who drives import is a ricer you are just a prejudiced ass turd that probably just googled some american engines and drives a chevy cavalier that's about to blow up from misuse and a lack of maintenance.

You're right. It's all a matter of what you want to spend on horse power. But displacement ALWAYS wins. You can add boost to as many cylinders as you want, but a V8 will always make more HP. That's why 500c.i. Top Fuel dragsters run 3 second quarter miles -- and that is under so many restrictions! A tweaked out Nissan twin-turbo GTR is nice, but a twin turbo 6.2L C6 Vette would be in a totally separate class.

You have a lot of vids. Nothing on imports. Sad really. I drive a semi, so I like those vids. I was into American muscle probably before you were even thought of. I'm into electronics, I've done construction work, I've worked on cars since I was 9. I replaced a starter, ballast resistor, and a starting solenoid, on a 79 dodge power wagon snow commando 360 magnum with granny gear and all. Me and my bro built a 94 jeep cherokee, and so on. My buddies as I said before had a garage, and we used to do all kinds of projects in it and beer was not a factor in any accidents, wink wink. Beer as far as I'm concerned is a tool as good as a screwdriver. Anyhow, I got into imports when I saw what Wyotech and the students there were doing with theirs. They took a crappie Honda and with not too much work or money, turned it into a smooth 12 second drag car and drove away from the track. Not real impressive, but the imports have innovation and things that are new to the automotive industry. Basically more things to explore and more ways to get power than a blown nitrous 572 that's been built from the ground up. These motors will produce better power to weight numbers than most v8s. It's fascinating really. I got bored with building 302, 350, and 305 engines. It's the same story every time. If you want power just put a stroker kit or something else boring. Imports have other ways to get power without ever removing the engines or being too invasive. America has just recently started doing different things and other countries have years and years of it. Basically in engine technology, America is behind. We stick to what works. That's safe. But safe is boring. Buy an import and maybe you'll see what I mean. Don't buy a honda. Those people are from a different planet. Maybe buy a cheap 240 like I did. I want an ae86 corolla, 97 supra, and a 280z.
Ryan Brown it's all about forced induction, an equally built 4 banger vs. 8 cylinder and equally boosting each engine and by that a I mean, a 40mm turbo on a 2.0 liter 4 banger vs. a 4.6 liter V8 matching the same boost per cfm would be a roughly guessing a 88mm turbo on a 8 cyclinder, now that everything being equal, there is no way the 4 banger is the better/more powerful motor. Most of these ricer idiots compare a 55mm turbo on a 4 banger then say, yea that 55mm turbo on a V8 is slower then the 4 banger, well, yea...not enough boost going through that turbo for the V8, It's all physics and most of the 4 banger crowd can't understand that and talk ignorant shit. Power to weight ratio. The cars you need to put a V8 in, tend to be heavier than the ones designed for a 4 cylinder. If you had a V8 blown nitrous in an 80s foxbody mustang, I had a 4 banger turd in a 79 dodge power wagon 3/4 ton. Most likely you would win. Hondas and their amazing 4 cylinder setups and the lightweight chassis are just as equal to a V8 in a heavier car. I've seen bone stock b 18 all motor beat a mustang v8 stock. It's the power to weight ratio. Not just power. I think the 6 cylinder is the happy medium. Just small enough to squeeze into a small compact car, and mean enough to produce v8 numbers. Still weighs less than a v8...not by much, but just enough to make a difference, and with the right setup, a 4 cylinder car hits 10 seconds with just a few bolt ons, a tune, and 500 hp.

just remember that 1960's american cars have by far the most power when stock a 1966 pontiac gto can have a 350 horsepower engine when stock while a 1966 mitsubishi colt only has 84 hp so its clearly no contest between american and imported cars of the 1960's.

305s arent worth a fuck, 350s are the stock engine people throw parts into because it's cheap and really simple to get a good understanding, yeah you can make some nice power, enough to get you going and beat a few around the block. But once rivaled against a built v8, the massed strength of the 350 will not be enough. It seems that you underestimate or have little knowledge of the power you can get from a v8 rather then a 305 or even a 350, it's disappointing to see that's all you think is there.

American cars are Junk, you can't exceed the milage of 100k without doing any major repairs. Compare that to a foreign car where it can go 200k miles with only Oil changes and tires. I would chose a FOREIGN over anything.

I have a '69 Charger R/T and whenever a ricer rolls up, the driver usually gives me props and says "nice car". I do the same when I see a bad ass import. This happens quite frequently, but for some reason, when people get on social media, they get super confrontational, angry and even hateful. Here is how it breaks down, imports are usually cheaper to buy off the bat but cost way more to soup up while Muscle Cars cars more off to bat to drive but cost way less to soup up. Imports are better at handling and fuel economy but cost more to modify and repair while Muscle cars are better at generating raw power for less and don't handle as well but do dominate the strait line.

Why are these people racing Civics?
-Well, they are dirt CHEAP. You can get a decent Civic, with moderate mileage, around $5,000-$8,000. This is the range for a used Civic with around 50,000 or so miles, but these look like 90s Civics, so they are probably even less than $5,000.
-More customizabilty than any other car out there. Go look up body work, tuning, etc and the Civic is easily the most widely avaiable car to tune and do body work on.
-Cheap maintenace. Muscle cars are expensive to maintain. Civics will eventually break down, but are very cheap to fix up.
-High reliability. Imports last longer and can take more miles than American cars. Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc are consistently rated top reliability.
-Easy to tune. People have told me the import engines are super easy to fix up and tune.
Unless if you have a lot of money, not willing to put in as much work for your car, etc, then I guess a muscle car is the bettet choice. I am American btw and totally think imports are superior.

The reason most of us import racers lost to muscle cars is because alot daily racers tune their cars for top speed instead of increased acceleration. Its not how fast you can beat the other guy to the line, but how quick you can beat him there.

I've completely modified it and I'm not a ricer I am a tuner. There is a huge difference between a tuner and a ricer. The main being that I understand that if I have a V-Tech engine I'm not going to put a turbo on it because when that V-Tech kicks in it's just overlapping what the turbo would do and make both basically useless. Not everyone who drives import is a ricer you are just a prejudiced ass turd that probably just googled some american engines and drives a chevy cavalier that's about to blow up from misuse and a lack of maintenance.

A tweaked out Nissan twin-turbo GTR is nice, but a twin turbo 6.2L C6 Vette would be in a totally separate class.

You have a lot of vids. Nothing on imports. Sad really. I drive a semi, so I like those vids. I was into American muscle probably before you were even thought of. I'm into electronics, I've done construction work, I've worked on cars since I was 9. I replaced a starter, ballast resistor, and a starting solenoid, on a 79 dodge power wagon snow commando 360 magnum with granny gear and all. Me and my bro built a 94 jeep cherokee, and so on. My buddies as I said before had a garage, and we used to do all kinds of projects in it and beer was not a factor in any accidents, wink wink. Beer as far as I'm concerned is a tool as good as a screwdriver. Anyhow, I got into imports when I saw what Wyotech and the students there were doing with theirs. They took a crappie Honda and with not too much work or money, turned it into a smooth 12 second drag car and drove away from the track. Not real impressive, but the imports have innovation and things that are new to the automotive industry. Basically more things to explore and more ways to get power than a blown nitrous 572 that's been built from the ground up. These motors will produce better power to weight numbers than most v8s. It's fascinating really. I got bored with building 302, 350, and 305 engines. It's the same story every time. If you want power just put a stroker kit or something else boring. Imports have other ways to get power without ever removing the engines or being too invasive. America has just recently started doing different things and other countries have years and years of it. Ryan Brown it's all about forced induction, an equally built 4 banger vs. 8 cylinder and equally boosting each engine and by that a I mean, a 40mm turbo on a 2.0 liter 4 banger vs. a 4.6 liter V8 matching the same boost per cfm would be a roughly guessing a 88mm turbo on a 8 cyclinder, now that everything being equal, there is no way the 4 banger is the better/more powerful motor. Most of these ricer idiots compare a 55mm turbo on a 4 banger then say, yea that 55mm turbo on a V8 is slower then the 4 banger, well, yea...not enough boost going through that turbo for the V8, It's all physics and most of the 4 banger crowd can't understand that and talk ignorant shit. Anyways....good day.
But I'm a straight 6 enthusiast. Ill knock v8s and 4 poppers until im blue in the face. Straight 6 4.0 liter vs v8 4.0 liter. Toss up really. Depends on design of everything. Is 1 a low compression turd...does it have a turbo, supercharger, or procharger, is it all n/a with 4 valves per cyliner and duel overhead cam. Lots can be said. A mazda quad cam probe v6 is genius, or hondas self oiling hydraulic vtech higher cam lobe thingy, maybe the supercharged hemispheric heads on dodges v8s....its all technology. What youre into. You cant really say one motor thats different than another is better. Both have equal opportunities to be just as badass. Its really the person that built it. Its a religious war to say one is better than the other when theres always room for improvement. Power to weight ratio. The cars you need to put a V8 in, tend to be heavier than the ones designed for a 4 cylinder. If you had a V8 blown nitrous in an 80s foxbody mustang, I had a 4 banger turd in a 79 dodge power wagon 3/4 ton. Most likely you would win. Hondas and their amazing 4 cylinder setups and the lightweight chassis are just as equal to a V8 in a heavier car. I've seen bone stock b 18 all motor beat a mustang v8 stock. It's the power to weight ratio. Not just power. I think the 6 cylinder is the happy medium. Just small enough to squeeze into a small compact car, and mean enough to produce v8 numbers. Still weighs less than a v8...not by much, but just enough to make a difference, and with the right setup, a 4 cylinder car hits 10 seconds with just a few bolt ons, a tune, and 500 hp.

305s arent worth a fuck, 350s are the stock engine people throw parts into because it's cheap and really simple to get a good understanding, yeah you can make some nice power, enough to get you going and beat a few around the block. But once rivaled against a built v8, the massed strength of the 350 will not be enough. It seems that you underestimate or have little knowledge of the power you can get from a v8 rather then a 305 or even a 350, it's disappointing to see that's all you think is there.

Dude I have a 96 mustang gt(a mustang mind you) with 140k on the engine and have done no major repairs. Only thing I've done is oil and flush the radiator a couple of times. Engine runs like a champ

It takes little skill to drive a straight line, a little more skill to control all that horsepower in a straight line, and a maniac with unbelievable skills to tame a dragster..... but it takes an assortment of skills to drive on a race/road course and take turns and factor in other cars, weather, tires, gas, as you whip around the track, and do not dare say "we have NASCAR!" because then you sound like a complete idiot, once again making one direction turns, with a few road coarses, every driver sounding like a baby.... the WORST Formula 1 driver alone trumps any driver who says they are the best racer from NASCAR. there are many racing leagues and many cars that are tuned for this, and american cars rarely ever finish in the front. Oh I am sorry, but the Corvette with it's plastic and fiberglass body parts that last as long as the milk in my fridge with its GERMAN made engine doesn't count. You want to claim American made cars are amazing, they are beautiful and have a lot of power, but stop bragging and saying they are the best when clearly they are not in the league of others.

Most drag-racing videos aren't going to tell you much more than which particular car/driver combination is faster than another. Anyone can modify their car (American or import) to be faster than another car.
